Reggie confirmed that the Wii U is not backwards compatible with the GameCubei'm guessing the WiiU will play current Wii games, but any word on whether it will be able to play Gamecube games?
Hey, just so you know, the Wii U plays much better than u think. This is a pretty damn cool system. I will be interested to see what happens, but there is a ton of potential in what I played.
I don't mind that it's not BC with GC games. The PS2 was (I believe) the first system that had BC, we survived without it, we can do it again. Besides, at some point you're going to have to not support a previous generation.Hopefully since there is still time to finalize things, Nintendo will listen and change some things around such as allowing more than one Wii-Pad to be used and backwards compatibility with the GameCube.
Excellent news. Hopefully that means they'll have better servers too. Definitely a step in the right direction nonetheless.E3 2011: Wii U Ditches Friend Codes
Nintendo's Wii U will have an account based online service.
UK, June 9, 2011
At Tuesday's press conference, Nintendo were frustratingly coy when it came to details of Wii U's online service. But it seems that the new system will scrap the Wii's friend codes in favour of an account-based system, more akin to Xbox Live and PSN.
Speaking to MTV, Ubisoft producer Adrian Blunt confirmed that users will make individual accounts on the Wii U; when asked would it be "Equivalent to a gamertag on Xbox Live," Blunt replied,"Yeah, exactly."
Discussing Ghost Recon Online, Blunt also said that it would be much easier to connect with other users on Wii U, with friend codes being a thing of the past.
