Gamestop.com has them up for pre-order I just bought my Deluxe Edition!

They said from the beginning that space was going to be small and that people could use externals and SD cards. What's the point in including a bigger drive when it won't be filled by the average person?

Hell, I have friends and family that own a Wii, and haven't even filled the 512mb capacity.

You can get a TB external for around $60-70 now, so why have them jack up the price for bigger storage?
Digital content is going to be a bigger deal in the next gen than it is in the current ones. Many people thought the PS3's original 60gb was more than enough and whatever the 360 offered and now you have them offering drives over 200gb, bc many didnt anticipiate the need for that large a drive when both were originally released. Nintendo seems to be embracing online services in terms of video content and downloadable games more now than they had 6 years ago, so only offering tiny drives seems puzzling. That stuff will fill up fast, especially if they want people to be using the system to their full potential and that will involve making money off of them through online purchases

Bayonetta 2 is exclusive to the wii U too. I 'm not sure if alot of former fans will like that. I'll have update the transformers prime thread.
most likely timed exclusive. I would bet money that a complete edition of the game will go to the 360 and PS3, 6 months to a year following the Wii U release

Nintendo is publishing it.

But for the larger audience, bigger storage won't matter.

Nintendo is publishing it.

And MS published Ninja Gaiden 2 exclusive for the 360. That didnt stop another publisher from taking it and releasing an enhanced version on the PS3. It's exactly what I see occurring here

I'm sorry Havok but when they say "exclusive" it' means their doing what sony did with certain franchise like rachet and clank for years. only with franchises that have been on other systems with content that'll only be on this system. I saw Reggie say it. It's the same deal with Arkham city on the Wii u with that early stage batman(since that's what the Beyond suit's supposed to do) suit that enhances strength via kinetic energy.

Huh? That makes no sense. Ratchet IS a Sony IP and has only ever appeared on Sony consoles. Bayonetta is not a Nintendo IP

Sorry I was re updating that. Please re read what I said. The point is the content in the Wii U is for them only and with Bayonetta 2 it's all of that ip.

Mass Effect 1 was published by MS and we will never see it on another console. It's all in the agreement. If Nintendo doesn't want it on another console, it won't be. IMO, they have it locked down.

Well I pre-ordered Pikmin 3, Rayman Legends, and New Super Mario Bros Wii U, alongside my console. I hope they put up the pro-controller.

For the people that do that, then they have the option of adding an external. Research has shown lately that people are using consoles for other purposes over gaming, so they won't be filling up all that space.

Same here.

I don't understand why people are so shocked at the low storage when Nintendo stated over a year ago that storage would be like that. Before I heard the 8gb rumor, I thought the console would only have 4gb, color me surprised.

Totally agree... i actually feel they should just stop the optional console internal memory and just have the customer go buy external memory that fits them. Its cheaper IMO for the customer and manufacturer.

Geeze,, must be nice to have that kinda dough

GameStop taking Wii U preorders, $60 trade-in credit for Wii

Quick as a flash, GameStop are now taking pre-orders on the Wii U, which today received its release date of November 18 and prices for its Basic and Premium SKUs. Gamestop is going by Nintendo's RRP, with the Basic set (8 GB white Wii U, white Wii U GamePad) priced at $299 and the Premium set (32 GB black Wii U, black Wii U GamePad, GamePad Cradle, Wii U console stand, Nintendo Land) priced at $349. You can place those pre-orders here.

GameStop are also offering an $10 incentive for trade-ins tied to a Wii U pre-order. So the $50 current trade-in for a Wii U goes up to $60 with a Wii U pre-order. That deal applies to all console trade-ins, but only one trade-in can be applied to the Wii U pre-order.

As yet, neither one of Amazon, Best Buy, or Toys R Us are taking pre-orders. Continue Reading

It's on Gamestop's controller tab already. $50 too, considering that PS3 and XB360 controllers are around $55.

This pawn shop I know has a bunch of Wii consoles for like 20 bucks. I know what I'm about to do.

ok on the memory

Nintendo Wii U expandable memory, TiVO integration explained

Nintendo's Wii U will launch with 8GB and 32GB internal memory models, but those limitations will be easily expandable.

"You can plug in a full-on three terabyte hard drive if you want. I'll love you as a digital consumer," Nintendo America CEO and president Reggie Fils-Aime told Engadget. "The reason we did it that way is that the cost of that type of storage memory is plummeting. What we didn't want to do is tie a profit model to something that's gonna rapidly decline over time. We'll let the consumer buy as much as they want, as cheaply as they want."

The memory expansion, like that on Sony's PlayStation 3, will be available through USB on Flash sticks or external hard drives.

Fils-Aime also stated the Wii U doesn't have the TiVO hardware built in. The DVR functionality will require an existing TiVo or DVR unit. How the two pieces of hardware will connect and work together is currently unclear.

I imagine that it might work like the Fios app on my phone. Download the app to you WiiU and use the GamePad. Of course, it's not that simple.

I'm gonna hold out for the obligatory price drop this spring.

Bayonetta 2 just secured a bunch of people's money for this system.

Very smart move by Nintendo securing one of the most coveted sequels in gaming right now.

Honestly, a price drop will only depend on how the consoles sell. If it turns out to be like 3DS, then I could see them doing a price drop with incentives, but I think this price is on the button, IMO, and a price drop won't happen until PS4/XB720, or if the prices of current gen drop where it will affect sales of units.
