Thanks guys. Normally I hate people who don't take the time to read stuff but I feel like the information is hard to sift through and find since it was just announced today.

Ugh, Nintendo, why can't I buy the the Deluxe in White? :cmad:

Nintendo TVii supported by 'all' major US and Canadian cable companies, dish services.

Nintendo TVii will support "all" cable and dish carriers in the US and Canada, Nintendo director of strategic partnership Zach Fountain told Engadget this afternoon. He said that no major carriers are excluded, and the only requirement for signing up is inputting your cable company's account information to the Wii U. DVR and TiVO functionality are plugged in similarly, where users input information via web, and services resultantly pop up on the Wii U. Nintendo TVii launches with the Wii U on November 18 in the US and Canada for free, and remains exclusive to North America for the time being.

People online are trying to say Google and Apple and other apps have already done it, but this is a whole new thing.

What's with the super low hd gb storage? I thought 100gb+ was the standard now?

Sigh...read the past few pages.

It's because you can buy storage (external) for a super cheap price where ever now. I bought a 1.5 terabyte external for 70 bucks.

It's a Solid State Drive, and Nintendo stated over a year ago that it would be low. You can use a SD Card or external HDD if you choose.

I missed out on a lot of 2TB deals last year during Black Friday for under $70. I was so pissed off.

It is. That's not going to stop people from defending such a bad decision on Nintendo's part, and one that only serves to inconvenience consumers.

How is it an inconvenience when the average person will not even fill up 8gb?

Plus Nintendo said over a year ago that Wii U would not pack a lot of storage. What's shocking about this?

8GB just seems too low for out of the box. At least make it 16GB. It'd almost be better if they took $50 off the price and made you buy your own. I do have a spare external HDD I can use (assuming it accepts it via USB connection).

So you don't think the average person will buy games, download demos, get DLC, add their music etc? I think they will. 8gb and even the 32gb is not very much in this day and age and will easily get filled up.

Can Apple and Google TV play console games? Didn't think so. Those alone are around $100.

Well that's why I went with the 50 dollar more expensive console. The deluxe edition is 32 gigs.

No. There are many that haven't filled up the 512mb from Wii or the 4gb from the XB360 bundle because they're being used more for other things than gaming. The average consumer doesn't care about DLC or the like. Consoles are evolving into an entertainment center than a gaming machine for a lot of people.

I think most people honestly have some other kind of storage lying around at work or home or school or whatever that they can attach on to it. We do the same thing with computers.

Two things.

First you've made a lot of claims about the behavior of "the average person" without backing it up with any data. Second, I don't give a **** about the needs of "the average person". You know whose needs I care about? Mine. And to me, such a pathetically small drive is a huge inconvenience. Having to go out and spend more money to fix a problem myself that shouldn't even exist in the first place is a huge inconvenience, and it's a hidden cost that (and I hate use this term) any "real" gamer will have to pay.

Plus Nintendo said over a year ago that Wii U would not pack a lot of storage. What's shocking about this?

It's not a shock. It's not shocking at all. Nintendo has always been very conservative with their hardware, and I fully expected Nintendo to **** up or cheap out on something about the Wii U and they did just like I knew they would.

And before anyone labels me a hater or whatever, I fully intend on buying the Wii U. Like I said earlier in the thread, everything about it seems great, just with one unfortunate exception.

But like people have said we live in a technology age where literally everyone has an SD card lying around the house or an external hard drive. It's really not that big of an issue when you think about it.

Nano Assault Neo Announced
The 3DS shooter inspires a Wii U follow-up.
by Lucas M. Thomas
September 13, 2012

Nintendo concluded this morning's Wii U Preview Event with a rapid-fire listing of over 50 different titles that will ship for the new system in the "launch window" between November 18 and the end of March 2013, and while we knew about most all of them there was at least one new name snuck into the mix – "Nano Assault Neo" from Shin'en.

Discerning 3DS gamers will recognize the name, as Nano Assault was a brilliant, beautiful shooter that flew well under the radar when it released this past December for Nintendo's newest handheld. We don't yet know whether Nano Assault Neo is a sequel to that title or simply a Wii U version of it, but either way, Nintendo fans are in for a treat – its adventure into the microscopic depths of a human body is seriously intense and visually stunning.
