WiiU

Just buck up and get an external, see it as a 400 dollar console I guess. I have had my 1.5 terabyte for 2 years almost and have filled it half way. I use external drives like no other anymore. I can't see myself with out one so that's why it does not bug me in the least. I think it's becoming more common to have, especially those in the professional world, where back-up is key.

They could have done more, but I guess I just don't mind as much, because myself and many of my gaming friends already have external drives. To me they are nice to have for everything, I have that thing with my PS3 and Computer at all times.

I'm still mixed&not sure about the Wii U yet,IF I get it then I'll wait for the delux version to go down to 300 or 250 some day

Two things.

First you've made a lot of claims about the behavior of "the average person" without backing it up with any data.
There are tons of articles about fifty percent of Netflix' user base streaming via consoles. They shouldn't be hard for you to find. If you can't see how consoles are transforming then I can't help you there.
Second, I don't give a **** about the needs of "the average person". You know whose needs I care about? Mine. And to me, such a pathetically small drive is a huge inconvenience. Having to go out and spend more money to fix a problem myself that shouldn't even exist in the first place is a huge inconvenience, and it's a hidden cost that (and I hate use this term) any "real" gamer will have to pay.
It's not a hidden cost. I'm an avid gamer, and I own many externals, so this isn't a problem for me at all. I installed a 750gb on my PS3 that I had lying around. But like I said, I know from friends and family that they never even filled the 512mb capacity of a Wii because they only value it for certain games. Honestly, and I hate using this term, but hardcore gamers need the larger space and those people will likely have extra storage.
It's not a shock. It's not shocking at all. Nintendo has always been very conservative with their hardware, and I fully expected Nintendo to **** up or cheap out on something about the Wii U and they did just like I knew they would.
They didn't cheap out though and they're using a SSD, which is more expensive than HDD.
And before anyone labels me a hater or whatever, I fully intend on buying the Wii U. Like I said earlier in the thread, everything about it seems great, just with one unfortunate exception.
I'm not labeling you a hater, I'm just stating that this has been common knowledge for a long time. They could have gone the XB360 route and labeled the Basic version as their "Arcade Bundle," which has only 4gb of storage, but is aimed at digital content. You have to buy their more expensive propriety drives (I'm not sure if you can plug up any external now, but that's how it was for a long time) for increased storage. That's deception.

If you have an old iPod lying around that you don't use anymore or even a laptop, you could use those instead of buying one. If you have a SD card from a phone or camera, you can use those.

I stuck a 750gb in my PS3 like two years ago when the HDD hit like $50, :woot:.

Actyually they did. Its not like they are using a more expensive 128 or 256gb SSD.

I think gamers are extremely hard to please. I remember gamers would say "I want 3rd party games" then when it gets third party games people are now saying "I could play those on my 360...Where's my classic Nintendo stuff!"

@Benstamania

I'll freely admit that I'm hard to please, and I don't necessarily think that's a bad thing.

Though similar to what you were talking about, I really think we've gone through the looking glass. Just a few years ago people would complain when an exclusive went multiplatform, but today I've seen so many people complaining (perhaps rightfully so, honestly) about a multiplatform game going exclusive.

So basically if you break it or lose it somehow you're ****ed.

I actually don't mind that because it will make sure people don't just treat them like they do every other controller.

No, you'll just have to contact Nintendo's CS to get it repaired or replaced instead of just buying a brand new one from a store.

Not an assumption as I based this off of you telling Benstamania that you won't get Wii U because of the storage size.
I said I wont get it. I never said the reason was bc of storage size. What you made was an assumption

You did when you responded to him about if he should get it because of the storage capacity. :oldrazz:

Back to the positives...

The latency looks really smooth. All the games they showed at this event has shoved away my original fears that there would be lag issues between the TV and controller screen. More so in the Balloon Trip game.

The Gamepad actually renders faster than the TV.

I'm just ready to get this... I see myself putting a lot of time in Nintendo Land... More so than I thought I would. That Balloon Trip game brings back old school NES memories.
