WiiU

Ya it's a little more powerful then current gen....but I really don't believe it will be near the power of the PS4/XB3 which could release next year or the year after. I'll have to try and find it, but there has been some developers already saying that.

I would like to read it if you find it. I've been hearing the same ole [PS4/NewBox] is only 20% more powerful stuff.

Well the PS4 there is no "confirmed" specs or anything like that, that is lots of rumor. Whereas even Nintendo admits it's not about horse power with the Wii U, and Dev's have said the same.

Even the father of Nintendo says in the article above he does not think it is as powerful as the PS3/X360

The Wii U is a big leap over what the Wii can currently do, but its on par with what the 360/PS3 have been doing for years. The PS4 and next Xbox should be quite a leap over its predecessors, which would obviously be outperforming the Wii-U by the time they come out

Nintendo doesn't even want to try to reach MS and Sony's levels regarding graphics. They keep wanting to go the route where their innovative streak is what sets them apart.

This is based off of the Durango specs. Although, those can change.

First off, Eurogamer is not a trusted source, they are full of **** a lot of times. Second, it's already been confirmed by IBM and IBMWatson that Wii U is packing Power7 tech, not PowerPC.

It's going to packing a little more under the hood sure, but leap in graphics will not be as big as previous generations have been. On top of that MS wants to sell the console at a relatively cheap price, and while they could afford to sell at a loss, it's not the best strategy.

I hope the Wii U is as awesome as the Dreamcast.

I mentioned in the Halo thread that my friend is a manager at the local GameStop and he was in Texas last week for the annual Managers Conference. Anyway, he played the WiiU and said it was the best thing he played there. He said there's so much he wants to tell that he's not allowed but he confirmed that Nintendo will be announcing the release date and price on the 13th.

He said that he would "put money" on the 250-300 range. No more.

Said the graphics are great and the online features they were shown (that no one knows about) were pretty sweet as well.

Now I'm even more stoked.

I can hardly wait for it.

I hope the Wii U is as awesome as the Dreamcast.

I just hope it doesn't meet the same fate.

Nintendo doesn't even want to try to reach MS and Sony's levels regarding graphics. They keep wanting to go the route where their innovative streak is what sets them apart.

That's where the future of consoles is going. Expect to see Sony and MS integrate the Move and Kinect into their next consoles more as well as other bonus features. Releasing a $500-600 state-of-the-art console isn't sustainable in the long run. It takes too long for them to make a profit off of it.

State of the art doesn't have to be $500-$600. Plus, almost every new system is sold at a loss in the beginning. The money comes from software.

Talking specs right now is fruitless. Rumors change every week. However, IMO WiiU will be a small upgrade to current Gen, but PS4 /720 will blow the current Gen away. The thing Nintendo has going for it is their stable of first party games. They just sell like crazy. The problem may be 3rd party games when the more powerful systems come out. That's looking to far in the future though. So many unknown variables. Hopefully we get specs for WiiU soon.

For Nintendo it's always been the principle of the thing. They got more than enough resources where their next consoles could surpass everyone else in the game with power, but they want to prove that's not all there is.

The cover art of Tekken Tag Tournament 2 features the main protagonist of the Tekken series, Jin Kazama, along with his trainer/grandfather, Heihachi Mishmima. The game will launch later this month for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and this holiday for Wii U.

Any word on if this will be backwards compatible with Wii games? There are some Wii games I want to try, so I don't know if I should look into getting a Wii or just wait for the WiiU.

I believe it is backwards compatible.

If that new Zelda matches that Wii U demo from last year, bring it.

Unless that tech demo was secretly part of the real game, Zelda on Wii U will probably look even better than that.

Remember when this blew everyone's mind?:

Well that looks like ass compared to what Nintendo actually went on to do with that hardware.

It'll be backwards compatible with Wii games but not Gamecube games.

I'd argue that that fake Zelda trailer contributed to most of the backlash against Wind Waker. Fans got something very, very different from what they expected. Said backlash against Wind Waker and its look, is why they made Twilight Princess.

yeah the best answer to support this was said in this pod cast at fan Expo that just past recently by the people of EPD.TV/ ROTR @ "12:24/51:53" ( warning if you do listen to this whole pod cast/thing in it's entirety there's quite a bit, "not huge" but a bit of swearing. You've been forwarned )

For Nintendo it's not all about the graphic's for them.

That is the thing that makes me still love Nintendo. Even though I wish it was a little bit more powerful, I do agree with their principal: "Gameplay is the core of it all."

One thing that has irked me moreso in the past decade, is the waning of gameplay, either simplified, no consequences, or just very short so they can try to stylize it with generic stories. To me there are three things that make a game:

1. Gameplay
2. Environment
3. Story

Now story has become more important, but sadly at the expense of others with a lot of recent games. Gameplay is what makes games....a GAME, and some of the newer generations of gamers seem to forget that. It is not about a story first, gameplay second, it is always about gameplay, the challenge, the fun of overcoming and learning. And this is one thing Nintendo strives on, they always focus on gameplay first. Yea...they could work more on stories in their games, but I'm glad their main focus with games like Metroid, Mario and Zelda is the actual fun and challenge you have playing a game.

So with all of that I agree with you, in the end, games are more about their gameplay, over tech/story. Though tech and story can be very important, the first is always key to a game.

Totally agree with most of what you said there.

Has anyone seen the October cover for GameInformer?

I mean, if they want to release a Metroid that has graphics on par with both GOW's, I won't complain. But I also wouldn't want them to sacrifice good gameplay mechanics for photorealism and repetitiveness.
