ER has been doing very well since it 10 + years ago. I have a feeling that Heores will be the ER. If they don't screw with the formula.

The formula is basically like Spiderman, but given more time and room to breath. I see it lasting at least 7 yrs or so. No other show I have seen this year comes close. Not even Battlestar Galatica. I like it that it has a Soap feel to it. Also, its cool that not every single character is on every week or heavily focused on.

To me the stars of the show are Hiro, Peter, Claire, Chandra, Matt and Mr. Bennett. I even like thier supporting cast. Ando, Simone, Zach add so much to the heroes lives. Even Mattt's wife is kind of foxy.

If Heroes is lucky it should aim to be Law and Order instead of ER. L&O has been on the air for what...14 years. I mean I have nothing against ER that show is good and thankfully this season they breathed some new life into it. Becuae ER in the past was kinda losing its appeal...for me anyway.

Hell. No.

Heroes definitely doesn't need to be on the air for that long.
I think 5 seasons, is enough, and that could be pushing it.

Well im not saying it has to stay on the air for that long but it should be aiming for longevity.

No unlike most shows on tv like ER,CSI,or Law and order. Heros seems like a show with a possible ending. The other shows that I listed deal with real life events thus the storys are never ending no large plot just a bunch of one shot episodes. While Heros has a story and sooner or later the story will end. Now I can see the show getting a spin off or two using characters we have already seen or completely new ones.

I think it could last as long as they can keep it fresh.

which could be a really long time when you look at all the diffrent things they could draw from.

They could make this show last if they wanted to. But they need to make it keep it fresh and not keep playing the same world saving scenarios each season. It would be easy to accomadate new characters and characters leaving.

You can't really compare it to L&O because almost every episode is stand-alone... that's why it works. They don't have to worry about a whole season's story arc sucking... they play it episode by episode some good some bad so the over all quality rarely plummets (Though I do miss Jerry... RIP).

Hopefully they have an ending planned out, not like LOST where they keep stringing you along never resolving anything. I hope the end of this season has some closer for the events of this season and next season they start a new arc with a new challenge for the heroes along with new villians and heroes replacing the ones that die/leave/ect.

How about a much darker spinoff?

Villains?

I am hoping it's more like C.S.I. where they make a few spinoffs based on geography, like the West Coast Heroes, or the Great Lakes Heroes!

Seriously though, they could create a spin-off called The Statesman with Nathan and model it after the comic Deus Ex Machina.

I doubt Heroes will last that long. I love it and think its a great show, but I cant see it being too original for that many years.

that would be interesting...

I compare Heroes more to shows like CSI or even The X-Files, in the sense of being a show that starts off with good or just decent ratings, and builds momentum out of word-of-mouth.

Thats why I stopped watching Lost because it was really beginning to piss me off.

Here is a story about how to fix shows like Lost, hopefully Heroes will not fall into the same trap :: http://nymag.com/arts/tv/features/23763/index.html

Or yet another season of Lost, that show that started out so well but is now meandering all over the damn place? Puzzles are meant to be solved, not prolonged. You can only tease viewers so long before they feel like they’re being mocked.

I hope Heroes will never go as long as ER... Like all good things, it must know when to end. I like my stories to have a beginning, middle and an end. I'm all for a good mystery but Lost is just trying to cheat the audience and the audience ain't dumb.
Personally I don't see Heroes going beyond 5 years and maintaining its present momentum.

that's what they should have done with 24, and it's also the reason 24 can work even without Jack Bauer

the thing with Heroes is that you've got here an unlimited cast that could even be rotating, once establishing the whole backstory, the things that can be done with the show are way too many, imagine a season of Heroes just devoted to HRG, his shady work and how it affects people's lives, kinda like 100 Bullets

That depends on what people are watching the show for, the established lore, the characters or even an individual character, as this could all be the Hiro or Claire show for all we know. Jury is still out.

I would personally love to see the show go on as you are talking about, and even seeing spin-offs happen for the characters that are really popular, as long as those spin-offs are connected in continuity.

or better yet, since the show's format has many similarities with comics, why not just do some "mini-series" that link in continuity to the main show, two or three episode mini movies relating to the main cast or to peripherial things that happen

ER? Good Lord, I hope not. The day they bring John Stamos in as the newest superhero is the day that I quit watching the show.

i hope not. I've never even seen an episode of ER. is still on the air?

if Lost can get renewed...ANYONE can get renewed

but no, 10 seasons is overkill for a show of this genre/style
