sadly i think its completely a possibility.(regardless of the quality of the film)

mainly affecting the future US marketing plan...

How much did it make?

Btw street fighter as a live action movie will always suck. Same as a Mario movie. No substance.

No not really, Fox knew Street Fighter sucked thats why it had no promotion and was only released in 1100+ theatres. They didnt bother to release it in Canada, Australia or Japan i think.

Street Fighter made just $1.7 million Friday, itll make around $4 million for the weekend and it may end with $10 million when the budget was $50 million. But that film was always gonna bomb.

With Dragonball they know its a far bigger franchise and thats had some great promotion in Asia and decent promotion everywhere else. A sequel script was written and theres talk of 2 sequels.

So it shouldnt affect Dragonball no.

Please keep in mind 20th Cent. Fox didn't MAKE Street Fighter. Capcom and Hyde park did. All Fox did was distribute.

For Dragonball, Fox was one of the two production companies along with Star Overseas. So they have more money on the line than they did with Street Fighter.

Basically, if Street Fighter doesn't make money it's not that big of a deal for them. If Dragonball doesn't make money it IS.

No, not at all.

i knew SF was going to suck since the beginning, i mean, only 2 trailers and some clips, and no one looked like their characters, Van damme´s SF looks way better....is that marketing?...in fact DB looks way better and it actually has marketing.

SF had plenty of advertisements...

they had a ****load in foreign countries first..

then tons of tv spots playing on tv.
and their trailers were shown in front of quite a few movies.
unlike db.

This movie failed because no one asked for it.

I personally have been asking for a dragonball movie since 1999 when I first began watching it at my friend's house. We had a party to celebrate Goku becoming super saiyan, good times... Good geeky times. Now my life's kind of well, stupid, anyway yeah, this movie MEANS A LOT TO ME and probably means a lot to many other fans unlike this hot garbage that was anorexic fighter. what happened to all that booty I used to see in the smallville boards? :csad:

well the movie looked very bad in the trailer and in tv spots.

thats how easie it is.

I only saw like 3 commercial for the movie in the last 3 weeks...very bad promoting IMO

no i actually saw alot on tv... on alot of channels too.

people know it came out... they just dont care to see it lol

Most people I know didn't even know it was Street Fighter. People can still recognize Dragonball. That's one of the huge differences between the two.

you just gave the defenders an idea .

if DB will not make a lot of money some will say that its street-fighters fault.

I think it might actually help elevate DB:E's enjoyment. Watch street fighter first followed by DB, wherever db is quality wise, it'll boost it by a point or two. :cwink:

Yeah, that's what I said when I saw SFLoC:

DBE has to be better than this...I'm actually more willing to see DBE now.

of course DB is better. i dont need to watch any movie to know that its better then SF.
but why would i have to watch SF to watch then DB? SF is an insult

I wasn't serious, nothing would get me to watch SF. Along with any sane person.

From what I've seen, they look like (or rather look to be) two crap movies. DBE may end up being the lesser of the two evils. SF was that bad.

 If anything SF:TLOCL showed the people who werent looking forward to it... thats things could be a hell of alot worse then what they are thinking... i know there are a hand full of hypsters that went and seen SF out of curiosity will also see DB for the same reasons or that they actually want to see it cuz it looks good.

Yeah, SF was a free ticket for me, and DBE will be, too (hell, same with Watchmen). If I could sit through SF, I'll give DBE a fair chance, too.

I can see where you're coming from since the target demographic is generally the same for both movies. However I'm not sure Street Fighter's failure is a hint for Dragonball's performance.
