Ok,here is my question should Captain America make his debut in the Avengers movie instead of a solo movie? It just seems to me to be a logical way to introduce the character without yet commiting to a whole movie. What are your thoughts?

You mean starting off the movie with Cap being discovered in the ice? I don't think so: I'd like Cap to be a well-rounded character. He's almost as iconic as Spidey and the Hulk.

It's possible... there are about five comic book projects on the move for a 2010 release (MOS, SM4, Silver Surfer/Magneto, Marvel's two in-house)... and it would be foolish to think the studios will be jamming all of that into a single year... Marvel could easily go one in house in both 09 and 2010... meaning one major hero gets pushed back... I'd think they'd make IM and Hulk sequels the following year instead of starting a different franchise assuming both movies do well this summer. Captain America starting out in ice may not be such a bad thing... you sign a big name from day one to play Steve Rogers and maybe do a prequel later on. If they try getting all these solo movies out before Avengers then the budget will just be so astronomically high when the time comes for it. Especially if they sign more "names" for these roles... they already will be paying Norton and Downey 10-15 million by that time. If that's the case they should just do Avengers in 2012, scrapping the Captain America movie in between... I wouldn't mind one bit so long as we get a prequel... I mean its not like people don't know who Captain America is let's be real. Ant-Man and Thor need movies though that's for sure. Nick Fury and Captain America don't because people are aquainted with their backgrounds.

I can see it working either way. I'd like for a Cap movie to be set during WWI so whether Avengers is a sequel or Cap is a prequel of it I dont think it would matter

Hell no cap should get his own movie period if anything ant man should be introduced in avengers rather than cap

Yeah but Captain America is going to cost a lot more than Ant-Man... plus whoever they bring in as Cap will probably want a 1.5x salary increase for the next movie at least. The reason why this MIGHT be a good idea... say you bring in a lessor actor for around 3 million for Captain America... lets say Captain America is a mega-hit... now when Avengers comes around that guy's salary is going to inflate to 6-8 million. With that money they could bring in a more recognizable guy from the start whose presence alone can be that "box office draw" type actor (regardless of who they bring in they won't have to pay him sequel money that's my point). Plus instead of making a solo Captain movie, you can carry that actor over for Avengers 2 if Avengers is a smash hit and by doing so you still give it marketable value by returning a major star from the original for a sequel. Wolverine is going to come out what... like 9 years after X-Men? It gives you flexibility to make the prequel when the time is right because it really doesn't matter when it comes out. As long as they don't wait too long... make a solo C.A film within six years of Avengers and it will be fine. Just trying show some forsight as to why this MIGHT work. Still a ways to go of course.

Tell you what: I rather see Cap solo movie than the Avengers movie.

Regarding salaries, just include future Avengers projects in the contract.

Having Cap be found in the Avengers movie doesn't really work, because it requires that he be the focus of the movie then, instead of the stars of the previously released films like Iron Man and Hulk, who the audience would be familiar with. Either that, or you end up with a seriously half-assed handling of the character.

I'm sure it is in the contracts or will be at least from here on out... but why take chances if you can avoid it? Obviously I'd prefer it to be in chronological order... everyone wants things in order but it doesn't have to always be that way. Just look at the Hulk... they are moving directly into the story bypassing the origin in the beginning. Besides Avengers is the last movie for character development... just heroes getting together for an event. Jammed packed 2:30 minutes of wall to wall action. Sort of like Transformers or Independence Day or what JLA intends to be (who knows about that one though) or something along those lines. Masters of Evil plan global destruction... SHIELD puts together a team... Hulk goes bad... etc. etc.

Marvel already said that they will need the holy trinity for an avengers movie to happen.... and they consist of iron man cap and thor

If they did a Cap solo movie set entirely in WWII, followed by an Avengers movie where he reappears in the present, that's something I'd like to see. I know that kind of thing is tricky to negotiate. The ideal situation for a guy like me would be for the Iron Man, Thor, and Cap solo movies to all continue with Avengers, making it a kind of three-in-one sequel. I think they've considered doing that, but like I said, hard to negotiate.

I also would rather have a Cap movie than an Avenger movie

i hope the cap movie takes place during ww2 only and found in avengers... any other way will suck imo

The again you wouldn't have to do a thirty minute segment of Captain America recovering from the amnesia and getting acclamated with the present day since you need as much screen time as you can get for the rest of the characters in Avengers... having half the C.A movie take place in the present fixes all of that... the only thing is then you'd definitely need to do the movie before hand. They can tell it like the Godfather part II.

Captain America deserves his own film. He's about as iconic a comic book figure as Spidey or Batman..

Of course I can see him in either scenario if he's done justice...

Captain America should have his own movie. If anyone should be saved for an Avengers movie, it should be Ant-Man.

Yeah, and it's going to bring in a lot more than Ant-Man. As far as I know, Marvel is set on making Captain America a franchise.

I'm pretty sure a solo movie is planned.
It be better that way as to not make the half of the Avengers movie a Captain America origin story.

If you ask me, Marvel is seriously dropping the ball with Captain America. After Spidey and Hulk he's one of Marvel's most iconic heroes and would be integral to an Avengers movie. I think moving in slow motion with Cap and sitting on their hands with Thor could seriously jeopardize Avengers from ever happening. I think a Cap movie writes itself and there are no sparse amount of actors capable of playing him. I think Cap needs a solo WWII movie, then Avengers could effectively serve as Cap II and maybe the sequel to IM and Hulk at the same time. If Marvel could fasttrack a Cap movie and make it great, I would say an Avengers movie would be a 100% certainty. More than anything, I want Cap done right, given the prope film he should've had long ago.

I think if they introduced Captain America in the Avengers movie it would use half of the film focusing on him exclusively .
