A 2017 study by the MPAA revealed that the Latino demographic of movie goers is the only one steadily increasing, Mexico and Brazil are some of the biggest consumers of Hollywood movies in the world, almost 1/5 of Americans are of Hispanic descent and the recent successes of Black Panther and The Fast & Furious movies, just to name a few, proves diverse films can find an audience and become incredibly successful! With all that in mind, I'm asking the simple question, will we see a Latino led superhero film anytime in the future?

If so, who will it be? And will the character be from Marvel Or DC? If no, then why not?

Obviously, my wish is Kyle, but who knows what the future holds for the DCEU?

Since Miles Morales is getting his own animated release, he seems like the most likely candidate for a live-action headliner in the near future.

I want to see Jessica Cruz asap.

Voted for Kyle Rayner but I'd certainly be happy with Jessica Cruz.

Same here. I feel like we might get her sooner, rather than later. However I myself voted for Blue Beetle. I feel like DC will beat Marvel to giving a Latino superhero their own film.

I picked Miles, but Blue Beetle, Jessica Cruz, Ms. America and White Tiger would all be great.

I'm 100% sure it won't be America Chavez, because China. I picked Nova. I mean, unless Into the Spiderverse counts... in that case we already have a winner.

Hispanics get oddly overlooked all the time in terms of cultural conversations unless the convo is about illegal or even legal immigration. The drama that will forever be ongoing between Americans of European descent and African-Americans always drowns out everything else, which is going to lead to some odd realizations in a couple of decades since the "browning" of America has a lot less to do with the increase of the Black American population and everything to do with the numbers of Hispanics across the board, not just Mexican-Americans.

So... It's no wonder that there is a dearth of Hispanic characters to choose from in the canon but also that there's so few Hispanic American acting stars one can think of to fill these types of roles. Before anyone comes at me with a list of Hispanic actors, if you can still understand colloquial English despite the best efforts of the Internet to scrap the ability to absorb context and nuance, yeah, there are Hispanics in the industry, but at a certain level the exposure is less and less until eventually you barely see them represented at all. Lots of reason for this, but I cannot deny that I would adore to see WAY more Hispanic representation in blockbuster super hero films.

And can I get this off my chest? I know that Kyle Rayner was revealed to have a Mexican born father. I know lots of Hispanic fans cheered, as did many White fans. Two things... Can we all admit that is truly a revelation that feels very much like a strange retcon more than anything? Was anything every really done with it in any way? It came VERY, VERY late in Kyle's run as Green Lantern. I mean, from the early 90's to the early 2000's he was another White hero and then BAM, it's revealed he's half Hispanic, and now get's included in the list of Hispanic American Super Heroes. Two questions:

1. Do people feel that this is the equivalent of "Race Bending" in any way? I am surprised I never heard more backlash over this change that happened so late in Kyle's time as the headliner of the franchise.

2. If you are someone that usually is offended by said "bending" did you give this a pass? Is it the same thing to you?

Just curious.

There have been many latinos characters created over the years but most of them have been poc latinos ,and poc latino in the u.s. cenus in real life are not the majority latinos in the u.s.census.
Most latinos in the u.s. check white as their thier race.

That could be one one of the reason why more latinos characters are not being created as fast.
There are already many white characters.
So you could say white latinos are underrepresented in comics, but poc latinos are not.
It depends on the latino you are talking about.
Overall white latino characters are still underrepresented ,but poc latinos are not in comics.

1) I don't really consider it race bending in the sense that we knew nothing about Kyle's dad other than a name, which turned out to he fake. It simply turned out that his father was Mexican. I'm more stunned that DC decided to keep the fake Rayner name, rather than give him the Vasquez last name.

2) The only reason I gave this a pass is because it didn't change anything about him as a character. He was still Kyle, just now he knew his true heritage. I also feel a lot of DC fans gave it a pass because without including Kyle as a minority character, DC looks really bad in terms of successful Non-White heroes.

In my view though, Kyle isn't the same as say Jessica Cruz, Jaime Reyes, or Cisco Ramon. They all grew up Latino and being raised as such while Kyle was raised by his White mother. Different lives, different experiences, which is probably why some fans have a problem with including Kyle as a minority character. I'm curious to see who they cast as a live action Kyle, a Latino or a White guy. Could end the debate once and for all... Anyway I voted for Blue Beetle.

I really doubt they would do Ms. America, when there's no Spider-Woman and She Hulk movie in the works.

I voted for Nova.

Same here. He has a cool power set, an awesome look, his own unique villains, his own support cast...etc. He's a perfect candidate. He has that Spider-Man vibe going for him as well.

That's very true

Yeah there folks who still view Kyle as white.
He would be white latino in comics but they could always cast Kyle as poc latino in dceu but they still may cast a white actor playing a white latino or white latino.

I'd like to see Aztec. Blue Beetle is most likely IMO.

I would think given the power set and the link to The Guardians of The Galaxy that Nova is most likely to get his own movie. Perhaps as a sidekick Luis of Ant-Man might be MCU'ed into a White Tiger. However the concept of White Tiger itself would probably be a better fit for Netflix, or I guess going into the future Hulu show giving us another new character for the White Tiger.

I wish I could vote for all of the ones I was interested in.
