Stay safe my fellow Texans. Stay warm.

It sucks, I know.

I don’t know if this makes you feel better but last week or so it was -25 degrees with the wind chill. We still had to go to work.
Yeah we're not prepared for snow and freezing temps here. So snow tires and salting our walks and drives are not the norm.

We kind of shake our heads when southern states seem so unprepared for winter but we have to remember that you guys don’t need to be as prepared as we do.

Amazing how varied our country can be.

I remember my city being the coldest place on earth once. -55 celsius. Cars have block heaters here so there's no excuse not to get to work for us.

Ah yes, when it is a frozen hell outside and your boss still wants you to show up.

Yes our 10 gallon hats and bow low ties are useless here.

On the other hand, we had a lot of 90+ degree days last summer and I was ready to accept the Apocalypse.

I blame Ted Cruz, but that's just on da GP.

Even for the more northern areas, this is not fun.

Let me tell you though, after a week of sub zero temps, it makes those 20 degree days feel like jacket weather....

Absolutely. After a long winter 40 degrees feels amazing. The first summer days seem impossible.

I am extraordinarily lucky right now. Almost everyone I know has been without power for a distressingly long time and it’s 18 degrees right now. I think my proximity to a hospital has saved my ass as I haven’t had any power loss. My daughter is oblivious to how rough it could be right now.

****ing hell Texas. How many people will have died because a power company refuses to take a loss...

My power has been up for two hours, but it could still shut down again.

What the ****. What the ****ing ****. They pulled the plug to avoid not making money and now we have to foot the ****ing bill?

Get ****ed, capitalism. And people wonder why I'm extremely leftwing.

Today power wise has been better than yesterday......yesterday only one hour of power after 14 hours of black out. Today, 2 hours of power in the morning, 3.5 hours of blackout followed by 2 hours of power and one hour of black out. Right now there is power, but that will eventually change.

I am holding on for a few more days. A week from now, this will be a memory.

No power outages where I live but we got a lot of snow and the cold. Ironically I think the hurricanes last year helped out by knocking down most of the trees by powerlines that would be weighed down by all the snow and ice.
