I think it would be cool if Spider-Man 4 took place in the winter. The first Spider-Man film took place in the spring, summer, and fall. And, I'm not sure about Spider-Man 2. But, I think it would be awesome to see Spider-Man fighting in the middle of a blizzard or something. It would be a nice change.

Agreed... visually, just imagine the coolness of seeing Spidey swinging around during a snowstorm, or fighting on the rooftops,

It also opens avenues for the plot and tone to take --- for one, we get to see some more of that trademark Parker luck as Spidey has to track down the villain in the freezing cold, wearing nothing more than his standard spandex costume.

Or, say, they could follow that one Michelinie/ McFarlane storyline and have Peter and MJ get evicted from their apartment during a snowstorm.

Basically, a bunch of different avenues could open up if this route was taken with the next movie.

Spider-Man 4 should be a Christmas story. Here's my idea:

People say that Peter & MJ break up in Spider-Man 3. That MAY happen since Gwen has been introduced and we'll probably see Felicia/Black Cat in a future film. But...let's imagine for a moment that Spider-Man 3 ends with the marriage of Peter and MJ. And, I guess, we can be certain about Lizard as a villain. So, I think Spider-Man 4 should be about Dr. Conners family life. His experiments and his eventual transformation into the Lizard hurt his family life. And, since it's the Christmas season it makes things worse. Now, we cut to Peter and see that his marriage to MJ isn't too smooth. Like that we can have a connection between Peter and Dr. Conners. So, basically the entire movie is Peter/Spider-Man trying to stop and save Dr. Conners/The Lizard. And, their final battle is on Christmas Eve. Spider-Man defeats The Lizard and turns him back into Dr. Curt Conners. Then, the next scene takes place on Christmas day. We see Conners forgive his family. Then we cut to Peter and MJ and see them try to fix their situation. And, the film ends with a nice upbeat Christmas moment.

Thats actually not a bad idea. Funny when I read this post I immediatly thought of Spider-Man Blue, where Spidey fought the 2 vultures during winter.

Sony should hire you instead of David Koepp. :o

Well, now we know that the Vulture could be useful for something.

It could be interesting, but I doubt Sony would go for it.

I'm all for it,but I hope Raimi wouldn't make Kraven wear a parka riding a dog sled.

So Batman Returns meets Spider-Man?

I would toss in Kraven in there as another threat to Spider-Man and The Lizard.

For that film to really work it should come out in Thanksgiving 2009. You can't have all the Christmas stuff in May or July, it would still do great business in the fall, marketing it would be perfect, you would have the action figures out just in time for Christmas (you know how Arad like selling toys) and Sony originally wanted Spider-Man for November 2001. They could film it in fall/winter 2008.

One of the things that makes Batman Returns stand out is that it takes place in December, with the snow etc. I don't read 616 Spider-Man but does winter show up like it should in the comics? USM has never had snow.

lol. I doubt it. Then again you never know. :ninja:

I knew someone would make that comment, but I didn't think it would be you.

That's what most of us agree on. It's funny...now that we've gone through 5 villains its getting easier to pick these villains. Before it was a HUGE debate on who Spidey who battle next. Now, everyone agrees on Lizard and Kraven. lol.

A winter release would be great, but its breaking tradition. Although I'm sure the movie would still be a big hit.

I was surprised nobody had mentioned BR.

Yeah it is easier but after SM4 it could get perhaps harder since there would be half a dozen left and each one has equal pros and cons.

Well it isn't Star Wars tradition. SM1 was supposed to be out in Nov'01, then it was May '02. SM2 was supposed to be out in May '04, then it was July '04. SM3 took an extra year for May '07. Harry Potter is switching back and forth between November and June/July releases. If it took a holiday/winter spin then it would feel better for people to see it in late November/December.

Nothing beats seeing NYC at Christmas time with snow and lights and then stepping out of the air conditioned theatre into the warm summer rays. Maybe Batman Returns could've done better, people weren't in the mood to see a Christmas movie in June. And when do they usually air Batman Returns on TV? October and December.

It can open on the Wednesday Nov.25 or even Nov.24 for an extra day the fans at this point will show up and I doubt any other blockbusters would challenge it on the Friday 27. Some counter programming targeted at females would be out. And it would be 30 days until Christmas.

Oh yeah, the winter season would make great atmosphere for the movie, especially those winter nights. Imagine Spidey and the Lizard, or some villain fighting in a blizzard.

The idea works because it would be different. The franchise could use some change to spice things up.

LOVE the WINTER idea. Snow storms, snow blizzards, would work well. But "NO CHRISTMAS" theme, they work horribly in these types of movies.

Christmas theme could work for Conners since his family life is damaged because of his transformation into the Lizard. I think next to Sandman/Flint Marko, Conners will be the only villain to live. So, might as well do something special.

I would love to see this happen. I don't think that the Lizard would be a good choice for a villain, though, because isn't the Lizard's weakness cold? The Lizard wouldn't take Connors over during the winter, because Lizards want warm tropical climates. Kraven and Vulture would be great, I think. Perhaps we could see Spidey put Vulture in jail in the beginning, then he "dies" and tells Blackie Drago where his Vulture suit is, then the real Vulture survives and Spidey has to deal with two Vultures while being hunted by Kraven? That could be great with some work, I think.

The Winter climate could force THE LIZARD underground. That's where we'll have many sewer fight scenes with LIz and Spidey.

Why, dude? What's wrong with a story taking place during the winter?
Oh there is absolutely nothing wrong with it...I also love the idea, but I don't think others (especially Sony) would want to make a winter film OR release it during the Thansgiving-Christmas/Fall-Winter time.

And I agree with Visionary, this hopefully will not be a Christmas story...because yes it is good for Connors's story, but it will make the film seem too happy, which I don't think that a giant Lizard is very happy.

But, if it happens, I won't be mad or disappointed at all. :word:

^ Too happy? The Spider-Man films have their dark moments but for the most part its pretty light-hearted. Atleast if you compare it to other Sam Raimi films. Especially Darkman.

But if the Lizard is forced underground, and all of the cool fight scenes are underground, then what's the point of putting it in Winter? I would rather see the snowy New York used as a battleground, and see how the snow affects Spidey's fighting style. Putting the fights in a sewer would make it like SM3, with Sandman in the sewer. I'd like to see Lizard in a movie, but not a Winter-based one. Unless they go to Florida for part of the movie, then I'd be fine, but again, no snow in Florida.

^Yep,but we need at least one scene with the Lizard in public so Kraven will know about him.I hope that scene is at the college. And it would be a nice change if Dr.Connors family was held as bait for the Lizard instead of MJ a hostage for spidey.

Just because it takes place in the winter, doesnt mean it has to be released in the same season. For example, Batman Returns came out in June.

Yeah, but a Christmas themes would be too damn light-hearted and cheerful. It's hard to follow up on serious scenes, after hearing people saying Merry Christmas and the giving of presents with glee. Not good. Winter scenes, yes, Christmas scenes, no.
