The Amazing Spider-Man 2 With Great Sequel Comes Great Lounging - Part 1

So I've been thinking about something when it comes to Spidey, and specifically Webb's series. I didn't want to bring it up in the general thread because it has something to do with Nolan's Batman as well and I know how frosty it gets when you bring up the name of Nolan in that thread(:o), but anywho...with how Nolan purposely broke Bruce in so many different ways in The Dark Knight(mentally, emotionally, spiritually) and finally gave the final two-puncher(financially and finally physically), what areas do you think Spider-Man could be, or will be, broken in Webb's trilogy? I assume we can take out financially, and maybe even physically since Spidey has all of that strength, but maybe mentally? Emotionally? I'd assume Green Goblin is going to be the villain who does all of the "breaking" and when he eventually kills Gwen, it's going to wreck Spidey and will that be enough in Webb's trilogy for him to overcome true evil?

I'd like to hear your thoughts about this

Well, I def agree about the financial aspect being left out, at least for now. I mean, until we see him working at the Bugle and attempting to earn a living then maybe we'll talk about it. Although in the Ultimate comics Peter ends up being fired because JJJ gets pissed at him for defending Spider-man's actions. I could see that playing out in this series.

As for strength, I really like Nickoray's idea of having Oscorp/Norman or whoever making an "anti-serum" that takes away Parker's powers. That would be pretty neat. There's all sorts of angles that could be played with that scenario and how does Parker regain his powers, etc.

For certain I think we'll see Parker get wrecked mentally and emotionally in this series and I hope it's at the hands of GG. Part of that has to be with the death of GS and the aftermath...his guilt for not saving her, for not keeping the promise to Capt Stacy.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss man.

If it means anything, since you're the only firefighter I know(and even that, it's not personally), thank you for what you do

Thanks man, I totally appreciate it.

Thanks and I was totally thinking that. I'm not sure how he'd get his powers back or even how long they'd be gone. BUNCH of ways that could go down but definitely Oscorp would be involved as they are the...not culprit but masterminds here.

For the second bold part, I think it's a given that he's gonna be wrecked. I just wanna see how they handle it. Seeing someone at an all time low is no fun.

I always felt that a Spider-Man series should be a quadrilogy instead of a trilogy. Though it's hard to keep mainstream audience invested that long I guess

It's weird how we're kinda "supposed" to see a hero broken down in such ways possible. Especially Spider-Man. He's known for always remembering who he has and what he has in his life to rise from worst case scenarios. I only say it's weird because it's not comforting to see our heroes broken down, but how they handle it defines them I guess.

I think it's pretty smart that a hero needs to be broken in certain ways, which is indeed necessary now after Nolan's trilogy. The idea that a hero should be broken and rise up from the ashes in specific ways...it should be followed with Webb's Spider-Man, Snyder's Superman, and so on and so forth.

So I was at red robin and all the staff had on shirts advertising The Wolverine but in important news I've discovered the BEST TV SHOW EVER

Which show is this? Hannibal? :woot:

Agreed that Green Goblin needs to be the one that breaks Spidey in whatever way Webb wants in his series.

Agree. A trilogy always feels perfect to me and for more reasons that one as it does lose some audience investment with a fourth film.

Morning all. I've been gone for a little while dealing with some personal issues and I wanted to come in here and share. For those that don't know, I'm a firefighter. Come this December it will be 10 years that I've been working in this field. It's a great job, but sometimes there's stuff that happens that really affects you.

A couple of weeks ago, someone I knew personally and had worked with on occasion, was killed in the line of duty. It's been pretty rough for me to say the least and I'm very thankful for my wonderful family, friends, and 'other' family at work for their always loving support. That brings the total to 3. That's 3 firefighters that I have personally known in my relatively short tenure, that have died while on duty. It may not seem like a lot but each one was a brother to me and each passing has been very difficult, still affecting me now and prob for the rest of my life.

I didn't come in here to be a 'downer' or whatever so I'm sorry if you take it that way. I did however want to come in and share my feelings and ask a favor of you guys/gals...whenever you're out and about and you come across someone in the emergency field, i.e. Police, Fire, EMS, etc. please give them a pat on the back and simply say, thank you. They're out there everyday putting their lives in harms way and the support of the community makes a huge difference. Thanks and take care.

Oh man... I'm so sorry. Even though I'm a man I get teary-eyed kinda easily, and this certainly got me

Don't worry, we don't think you're a downer. It's quite ok to share these kind of feelings

Okay, cool

also another question: does anyone of you think that hypnosis really exists? They say that you can't be hypnotised if you don't want to be hypnotised, but I really want to experience what it's like but I have never been able to go into a trance

Danny Boyle would urge you not to do it.

Just found out that the major developers are all having their E3 Press Conferences on Monday. Usually it's spread out 2-3 days. It's gonna be an amazing Monday. I'll be watching the clock, waiting for school to end and for my E3 2013 experience to begin!

Anyone plan on playing The Last Of Us?
I just pre-ordered it today! Next weekend will be awesome, with MOS and TLOU :D

So did a mod finally close that one thread regarding Bane? Lol.
