Yeah but he could have said something like it had pacing problems or the script was bad or the action was bad..
I think he was allowed to say that much
I respect people's opinion and myself thought the movie was far from perfect but the way he said it was something someone like Anno would do to piss people off
I'm replying to this post in here since it really doesn't belong in the general discussion board.
Yes, he could have said something about why he didn't like it, such as a poor script or whatever but he chose not to. It's still his opinion though and the backlash he received was ridiculous.
It's really not fair to compare him to Anno. First of all, I never had an issue with Anno...all my debates with him were done in a respectful manner. Second, RIM never, at least not to my knowledge, ever had the type of reputation that Anno seemed to carry around here. He wasn't the troll or flame warring type poster that would have made some kind of remark just to "piss people off."
RIM provided us with a lot of insider details and let us know from the marketing side a bunch of 'heads up' info that quite frankly we were never entitled to have--he did it out of being helpful to other fans. That was my impression of him; if someone knows differently then maybe they can share.
The main point though, is for someone to give their opinion, no matter how unliked it may be, to give a person that much grief was completely uncalled for.
