Wolverine NO LATER than 2009 release per Peter Cuneo.

Restart? No need for that. They could do an Origin film though if that's what you mean.
Nope. I don't mean an origin film. A restart. I'm so sicked and tired of this series and inconsistencies.

First, Singer and his. Then Ratner and his. It's just time for this series of X Films to be hung up in my opinion.

It's no fun to just give up. I say start from scratch and make something good!

Problem is for some of you die hard fans...the general audience doesn't give two craps about inconsistencies or differences from the comic book. The just go and enjoy the film for what it is. The studios can never please everyone. Every film (even the best) has it's share of rotten reviews or disgruntled fans. The studio doesn't care about them. They're marketing the film towards the majority who like this stuff. It's a business not a student film.

In the case of the X-Men movies and a restart, I don't see a need to restart when you can do more sequels with new actors and some old and continue the story. You can do Mister Sinister as a main villain. Or you can do a governmental supervillain like the Sentinels. And during these two you can rebuild the issue of the cure that was used in X3 and how it doesn't ultimately work on the stronger mutants.

In the case of the Wolverine movie, this is a piece just on him. Consistancies are not needed for this movie. Brian Striker can be recast. Sabretooth can be recast and most would not fret bc everyone will know that this is a prequel and a piece on a sole subject. Truthfully I believe this is the only origin story that anyone would go and see out of the XMen characters. The Magneto one? Come on and the idea of Gambit one is rediculous. Just cast Gambit in the fourth XMen installment.

If the release date is not till 09 then we shouldn't even worry about casting, stick with pre-production and storyline issues at most Marvel guys.

Yep. I actually hope this is a Winter 08 release or a Summer 09 release. 08 Summer is filled and honestly not enough time to cast and release next Summer.

Just an update on Hugh's schedule - Hugh starts filming "Australia" next week and the latest word is that finishes filming in either October or November.

So probably a January or Feb 07 shoot. 8-12 months of total production. May 09 would be key.

If shoot will start in January '08 (January-May - 4 months long filming is clausible) premiere in November or December '08 is possible (like Casino Royale). :wolverine

Cool news... I'm hoping Tyler Mane gets some screen-time or even Brian Cox as Stryker when production officially starts. Or maybe they'll go with something new...

They are going to put this thing up next to Superman MoS Summer 2009 and Wolverine will show us all who the real MoS is....

nah just kidding, but it makes sense, 3 years after X3 we get Wolverine, Marvel gets to try and stick it to DC at the box office yet again

Quote: "but Fox is very adept at making a quality film very quickly."

Hmm... Yeah, that's what happened with X3, right....:whatever:

That's EXACTLY what happened with X3.

What didn't happen... "Fox is very adept at making a film that appeals to sniveling fanboy whiners very quickly."

AD sums it up perfectly...

I knwo it'l lbe rated Adult here
so i want it to release in 1011 at least so that i can see it!!

I just got an e-mail from Tom Rothman, and he thinks Wolverine might be out in 2008, but wasn't sure.

“It’s really soon to tell.” said Rothman. The most important thing is to get the movies right! If I had to guess, I’d say Wolvie in ‘08 and Mag in ‘09, but it could change.”

2008 is too crowded unless it's a Winter release IMO. Snag a date in May 2009 right now and stick to it. Winter 08 would be cool too but that would greatly effect toy sales and dvd sales as has been historically shown. It's better to open the film in the Summer to have the initial toy sales, and then release the dvd during Holidays and you'll get another boost in sales, video games.

Hugh is filming "Australia" at least through September/October so it will be interesting to see what the timeline is going to be.

Wonder if they'll have stryker, maverick, deathstrike's father, sabretooth in this. Maybe even Alpha in canada.
