Wonder Woman/Diana's powers

If she has flight, they would obviously diferenciate from Superman and make the explanation, cause if not they are gonna say but why the other Amazons can't flight.. after all she's half amazon and hald greek god. They need to adress if it's as either part of the Zeus heritage, or being gifted by Hermes. (that be so cool)

I could be down if flight is something that doesn't come until a second film. No skin off my nose.

She should have flight. That's a "must" imo.

Being a Superman chauvinist (:word:), I sorta resent how other characters have gradually commandeered his unique awesomeness. E.g., some are just as strong (or stronger, or have omnipotent power rings or magic), one is faster, another is smarter, etc. It’s almost to the point where a name change might be in order because there’s less and less about Superman that’s actually “super”. :cwink:

It would be nice, therefore, if Supes were allowed to excel in at least one area; and methinks that should be flight - arguably, his most iconic power. Thus, I’d prefer that WW not fly. Obviously, she’d still be a formidable hero; and given her preternatural strength, pseudo-flight (i.e., “leaping tall buildings in a single bound”) would be within her wheelhouse.

That said… if WW must fly (and, admittedly, it’s a convenient and cool way to get her from A to B) then it should be made clear that this ability is manifestly inferior to the Superman version. I.e., in terms of acceleration/deceleration, maximum speed, maximum altitude (and resistance to the associated frigid temperatures and low oxygen) Supes is better in every way. Now this might seem obvious and acceptable. But I think there’s a tendency to assume that “flying is flying” - and if you bestow this fantastical ability on WW (or anyone else), it’s assumed to be essentially identical to what Superman can do. So once again, his preeminence and uniqueness gets diluted. :csad:

Well, while I agree on most of you say. I must say that Green Lantern can fly also. But the difference is what you've said. The difference on acceleration, how did he/she have the ability (Supes due to his krytptonian powers, Green Lantern with the ring, Wonder Woman by the gods, hermes). And yeah I'm all for they differenciate how these flying characters had that power but under different circumstances. To have a stamp in each of the characters flying would be the way to go IMO.

Wonder Woman having being able to leap buildings may be similar to the Hulk or Aquaman (new 52). So if Wondy is a demi-god, that may be the reason for her being able to float/fly, althought in a different way than Supes and with a different origin. I'd be all for it being Hermes or henced that if she can fly (maybe she can't at first), is she's blessed by the gods.

If Superman's uniqueness can be diluted by other characters having similar powers then he's not that great of a character. I happen to think he is a great character so WW flying won't take anything away from him...especially since this JL will be inhabited by other flying characters. I think people are going to be so blown away that they won't be comparing powers.
Example: Avengers featured 3 human hand to hand/weapon characters (Cap, BW and Hawkeye) and yet at no time did anyone feel the BW was diminishing Cap because she knew how to fight.
So let WW fly...let GL fly...let Shazam fly....Superman will still be Superman.

I just want her to be able to fly man. She's gotta have flight.

I'm holding out hope that she'll fly

Well that quote said she can jump high and practically fly. But not quite I guess.

If she doesn't fly but almost do it like jumping and then diving, I'll be fine. I think she eventually will fly by the blessing of her gods.
