Wonder Woman Movie in Development

Finally! So curious what direction they take this in since I doubt we get another origin story for her

How 'Superman' shepherds the DC universe of tomorrow (exclusive)

In this world, humanity has been clued into the existence of metahumans (i.e., super-powered individuals) for 300 years, Gunn reveals. ("If you saw a shark-man walking down the street, you'd probably vomit and s--- yourself to death," he says. "If they saw one, it would be more like if you saw Paul McCartney on the sidewalk in New York.")

Wonder what this means for Wonder Woman? It's not 300 years ago, but I still think a live action version of her in WWII with the JSA would be tops.

I’m torn. I would love Wonder Woman having a history with the JSA, but I also don’t want her leaving Themyscira/meeting Steve Trevor to be presented as something of the distant past all over again.

About time, lets cast a decent human being for once. :o

Either of these would make a SPECTACULAR Wonder Woman. And it's not often that I like fan castings.

What comic runs would you like the DCU WW to be mostly inspired by, and why?

At least Adrianne Palicki was a well cast pick. Better then 95% of the actresses mentioned on this thread, so far.
Oh - did you know before becoming an actress she worked as a model for over 4 years? Hey here is an idea... Let start looking at some Models turn actresses - From all around the world.
You know Charlize Theron, who was asked to play Hyppolita, on the last run of the characer was a model turned actress. So was Lynda Carter and Megan Gale, who pertrayed her in the past. Crazy, right?

Are you under the impression that the names mentioned in here aren't consider model level beautiful or haven't indeed done a lot of modelling themselves?

That's fair. Given Gunn's statement that the DCU has known about meta-humans for 300 years (and the references to Themiscyra in Creature Commandos), it would make sense that WW is active in the present-day.

If they go modern, I could still see Gunn/DCU pulling from King's latest WW run w/ the U.S. Congress passing The Amazon Safety Act after a rogue act is committed. Then you could have the Amazon Extradition Entity (AXE) task force run by Sarge Steel (like the comics) or swap with Flagg Sr. depending on where that character goes after Superman.

It's not my favorite story, and I'm hit-or-miss when it comes to enjoying King's take on DC characters, but I think there's potential there. Maybe the Sovereign is revealed to be Vandal Savage, a Cro-Magnon warrior who gained immortality &advanced healing abilities after encountering a strange meteorite during prehistoric times.

This is a cinematic universe. I still don't know why its so important to prioritize a Supergirl movie over Wonder Woman, especially its being released just 1 year after Superman.

You say this as if...Supergirl isn't a major DC character. One who headlined a popular TV show. One who was important enough to get a live action movie back in 1984.

Where, in my entire message did i say anything like this?

I still think Charlee Fraser is the best choice in terms of likeness but the only thing I've seen her in was Furiosa and I don't see any other credits announced for 2025 or the future so we'll see if she's actually a viable candidate.

Otherwise Adria Arjona is the best fancast at the moment, IMO. She's just on the short side, which is not a major deal for most characters, but I think WW has to have some stature to her.

Monica Barbaro is slightly taller. but I think I'd still prefer Arjona between those two. Wouldn't be so bad having an Oscar nominee play Diana though after Gal's lackluster "Kal-El noooooo"

yeah I would be cool with Monica Barbaro

We can always bring back the classics:

She registers as more of a classic version of Wonder Woman (1940s and 1950s) as opposed to the contemporary depictions.

Which, if Gunn is leaning into the Silver Age, works for me just fine.

Oh, Dua Lipa got engaged so I've officially lost. But that's off-topic. :o
