Wonder Woman Movie in Development

I love those people, who thinks tall women(Actresses) can't act.

I think some people become fixated on this as a problem because there are few noticeably tall actresses (it can be a bit of a challenge to be taller than the prospective male lead in most media, alas), so if you're fancasting only based on established names (which is all that fans can really do) you're going to come away with the perception that pretty much all the most prominent star actresses are ruled out.

I'd expect the audition process for this to cast a wide net. Who knows, maybe the WB casting director will turn up some former basketball player who has a real passion for theatre.

This is why i hope for an unknown.
I also wish the search for the next WW will be a worldwide search(Every one can send an audition tape no matter where they are in the world).
I also hope the casting crew will send notification to every acting agency in the world in the search for the next Diana Prince(espacially countries with the highest height average of women, like Sweden, Netherland, Germany etc. ). And that why i also think the casting has to come with an Height and age restrictions. My Ideal - will be 5'8 and over and age: 20-32(Yes - no Barbaro, no Arjona. no Debicki no Berrara, no De Armas No Daddario and evey other name that keeps coming up in the fan's casting).
I also think they should tryout (Runaway) Models and maybe even Athletes.

Lol you and your height and age obsession

(Yeah, let's get models and athletes, screw acting )

I'm glad we got someone who deeply cares about writing at the helm of DC, and thus will be looking (together with the directors) for actors who can pull off the dialogue and screen actions.

Kal el , no!!

You have to admit, Gal had the Wonder Woman look though. Her acting was passable in BVS and the Wonder Woman movie. After that I don’t know what happened to her acting. It’s like she just mailed it in.

I hope the next Wonder Woman casting will be open to Women of all colors. There are at least 20 actors that I have seen fan casted of all nationalities that would be excellent Wonder Women.

She looked the part, and was surprisingly solid under Patty Jenkins' direction in the first movie, where the fish out of water story really served her strenghts, and she and Pine had good chemistry.

I wasn't as enthusiastic about her turn in BVS as most were , and Kal el... No!

Nonetheless, I would like to see what a genuinely good actress could do with the role.

I liked her in BvS/WW/ZSJL. WW84, however . . .

This is like The Room of superhero movies, the feminine version of Tommy Wiseau.

I'm glad we got Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. I don't understand people turning on her portrayal after spending years praising her. But yeah, it's time to have new blood.

However, I still think that Antje Traue, who plays Faora in Man of Steel, could've pulled a better Wonder Woman.

Again, this is silly, nobody said acting doesn't matter. Physical profile is simply part of the character.

Kal El no was in the Justice League and yeah that was absolutely awful. Then I watched Wonder Woman 84, Death on the Nile, and Red Notice. So yeah she has to go.

So i'll ask - Do you think all tall actresses can't act?
Do you think there is no way a model can become an actress - And a very good one? An Athletes?

What is so terrible in putting an height and age limit for the auditions? Do you, actually, believe there is no way, if this kind of restrictions will be made, they'll be able to find a suitable lead? A lead that not only has the Physical profile, but also the acting chops?

I have no height and age "obssesion" with WW, what i have is a respect for the character.

Finally read Wonder Woman: Dead Earth. ****ing badass read! I love violent, bloody, mythic Wonder Woman. I would love if they lean into that style for the reboot.

At the news that Alcock would be playing Supergirl, my first thought was: maybe a tad too petite for the role…? But it’d be fair to point out (as some did) that the character has never really been defined by physical stature. So if an otherwise great choice for Kara happens to be two inches shy of average female height, it’s hardly a scandal.

Different situation for WW, though. In that case, fair to say, stature/height is more relevant and intrinsic. But the specifics are debatable. So while we might agree that 5’2” (e.g., Milly Alcock) is too short for WW and 6’2” (e.g., Elizabeth Debecki) is too tall, there could be compromise about borderline cases like Monica Barbaro (5’6½“) or Adria Arjorna (5’5”).

But at least in theory, there are actresses (including very talented ones) who are not physically suitable for the part.

Same, I prefer bloodthirty Wonder Woman who learns the way of the hero over Barbie Wonder Woman anytime of the day. Creates a more interesting dynamic with the Justice League and their moral code.

6'2 is definitely not too tall to be Wonder Woman. If they found somebody that height with the necessary acting chops, that'd actually be pretty great.

Definitely no to that. She is an emissary from a more enlightened civilization, that is the core of the character.

I agree 6'2 is not too tall, however it's not the height they should aim for. 5'9 can be enough, over this can be better.

I'm not a fan of blood thirsty Wonder Woman, too, however i'm also not a fan of a WW that will be too...soft. Superman and Batman - "No killing policy, no matter what" should not be part of her resume.

I think it depends on the interpretation/incarnation. If the Diana Prince secret identity is more-or-less non-existent, then an Amazonian physique (6’2”... or even taller) could serve the character and mythos. But if, more classically, the Prince “disguise” is to be plausible, something closer to normal height (say, 5’7” to 5’10”) would be required. (For the same reason, Superman probably shouldn’t be 6’9”. :cwink:)

.....since when is 6'2 too tall for WW?

It's like saying 6'5+ is too tall for Superman

What comics storylines would you guys want the reboot to be based on? I definitely want more mythological elements - gods and monsters were sorely lacking in the last two movies.

I'm a big sucker for New52 Wonder Woman, especially Meredith Finch's run. It's basically God of War with Wonder Woman instead of Kratos.
