Wonder Woman's role in Superman vs. Batman movie

Is any one else kinda bummed the world's greatest superheroine gets her first cinematic debut in a Superman sequel.

I'm not hating or anything,...just thought bring it up.
Yes. I understand why they're doing it, but I just think it speaks to a deep-seeded lack of faith in the character that isn't going to lead to an actual solo film any time soon. Especially not one carried by Gal Gadot.

I could see them using Gadot like they did the red head in Captain America. She clearly wasn't going to be Natalie, but she was a good introduction. This is what I hope they do with Gadot.

I think that Wonder Woman should be the one in the movie who in the end resolves the conflict between Superman and Batman and be the founder and creator of the Justice League. While Superman is an alien trying to fit in with humanity and Batman is a reclusive billionaire, Woman Woman is more a political figure since she is an Amazonian Princess. Her skills as a leader would be ideal to locate and organize super heroes from around the world and the stars into the Justice League. Like Nick Fury in Iron Man she could have a scene at the end of the movie where she introduces Superman and Batman to the Justice League (the group of superheroes she has brought together to battle emerging evils that they could never defeat individually). Zack, I hope you are reading this!

You read my mind! I think it would be cool if WW had already created a 'strike force' if you will of some of the greatest warriors/heroes on the planet to prepare for an impeding threat. However, she just needs to recruit the most powerful man on the planet and the most dangerous man on earth! At this point in Supes life, he really couldn't give a flying fig about some "league" of do-gooders, since he has enough on his plate already. And Bats is just not a teamplayer. WW would be an effective leader in her own right, she's just smart enough to know that on any team, you want the best in order to win!

So you don't think she'll be used to fight Superman if he's exposed to red kryptonite?

I could see her being asked the truth about her lasso and Superman volunteers to be questioned by her understanding his private life and those of his friends and family are out of bounds.

Still see Lex trying to goad him until Supes challenges him to be questioned whilst touching the lasso of truth at the same time.

What if Zod was fleeing something?

Or what if another alien race turns up because of Zod having done something to them when he and his people salvaged the destroyed Kryptonian colonies?

One thing that has given me a little hope for Gadot is something I read yesterday about how she will be willing to do her own stunts. She trained in the Israeli Defense Force (as I think all Israelis have to) and she knows martial arts. Yes, she's skinny but time and time again it's been stated that she will bulk up. That's what actors/actresses do anyway. They get in their roles.

In any case, there was a time when I said that Wonder Woman should be introduced in a Trinity movie instead of World's Finest. It'd be something of a 'backdoor pilot' for her role in Justice League which would (hopefully) lead to a solo movie that people could get behind after seeing her in two movies beforehand. Now, I'm a bit shaky on that really being the plan only because of the way this movie as developed.

Just before MOS was released, WB announces that they've fast tracked a sequel which made me thing "Awesome! They've got enough faith to move forward with this new Superman franchise." After seeing MOS the first time, I was like "Alright, that was pretty cool. Looking forward to see him flesh out a bit and meet Lex Luthor."

And then the Batman announcement comes out and I go "What? I thought this was a Superman sequel? Are they really going to take things this direction? REALLY? -_-" But eventually I came around and said "Well ok, people were saying that a World's Finest movie would be the best setup to Justice League which makes sense. Luthor can still show up and they can maybe add someone like Metallo who Supes might need a little help fighting."

But now they drop this bomb that Wonder Woman AND Flash are "locked in" to appear along with a whirlwind of other rumors like Doomsday, Darkseid, Lobo, Nightwing... My head is going to fall off if I hear any more rumors of any more characters. Is the Green Lantern Corps going to show its face as well? How about the Teen Titans? The Thanagarians? Supergirl? Why don't we just make this Batman vs. Superman: the DC Universe almanac. The fact that all of these elements are being injected into this movie that was supposed to be a Superman sequel which turned into a Batman/Superman film is worrying me that WB is impulsively changing the plan on the fly as they grow more nervous for the 2015 lineup of popular movies. That wouldn't be so concerning if we already had an established, well liked universe with multiple franchises going on, but we only got one movie that was decent (not dazzling). If they blow this, we can kiss the DCCU goodbye. It'll be back to Batman for another decade.

For this movie to redeem itself, I hope they scrap Doomsday, put Wonder Woman in a cameoing role or one that simply involves appearing on TV/at the UN or whatever (no fighting, no organizing the League, none of that until the official Justice League movie or her own), make the Flash strictly a cameo (preferably powerless like in Arrow), and make sure Luthor hits a home run in this. He should be unlike any Luthor we've seen before since I know people are growing weary of the bald rich guy who is super jealous of Superman. Give him his cunning, snake like traits that made him such a great villain in the first place. And Metallo would be a cool supplement if they can explain Kryptonite well enough.

Anyway, I'll get off of my soapbox now. But I just really want this to be good since it has so much riding on it. If, for whatever reason, we get another Green Lantern 2011, I'm content with where Arrow and its Flash spinoff are heading.

WW could come into picture by way of Batman investigating rumours of a hidden island inhabiting a super powered warrior. Perhaps Batman seeks out Wonder Woman to form an alliance to take down superman, should the need arise.

Or maybe Diana is sent to man's world as an ambassador to investigate the super-powered being that leveled metropolis.

WW being the only possible mean to stop superman could be a thing since kryptonite hasn't been introduced in this continuity.

Since the casting call did have "Bruce Wayne's love interest" written down, I speculate we could see maybe at most this kind of interaction between the two?

Wasn't Diana Prince a secret agent at one point in the comics? They could play with that and have her go undercover to get in with Bruce Wayne and look for evidence that he's Batman?

I doubt it. I think it's far more likely that she will be Wonder Woman in any future movies.

Who's Natalie?

I'm still not convinced on this until I see her in the movie., She could, of course, embody the role like Cavill did and blow me away...but until then. I'm not convinced.

So they're going to introduce her as WW in this movie, which is supposed to be the start of a shared universe and than replace here with someone else? That doesn't make any sense to me.

I'm saying it could be another Natalie situation. She might have a few lines and not much else. Yet, you are probably right and she could have more significant appearance. Likely she will, but Gadot has to KILL it to get her own solo movie. If she doesn't then she'll just keep making appearances as Wondy, but she'll never be in her own movie. At least that is my opinion.

I don't think that chick in Captain America was supposed to be her. If so, this is the first I've heard of it.

I don't know who she was supposed to be. As someone who is not familiar with Marvel that's immediately who I thought she was. I don't remember which came out first...IM2 or Cap, but I was a bit confused. Anyway, my point is that's the type of role Gadot could have. It could be really minor, but since they announced casting and all that then I doubt it will be that minor. It could be, but that's unlikely. I just don't think she's going to have a big role as in lots of minutes on screen until likely the end.

I am hoping she knocks it out the park though. Don't get me wrong. I do hope she does.

IM2 came out first. The character at the end of Cap was just a SHIELD agent, not Widow. There's absolutely nothing to indicate otherwise. If it was supposed to be the same character they probably would've got Scarlett to do it. All the actors in the Marvel movies don't seem to have a problem with doing cameos.

Edit: Oh Yeah, I forgot.

Gal is gonna ****in' rock as Wonder Woman.

lol...I hope she does. I truly do.

As for Widow...well there was a bit of an uncanny resemblance, and again I'm not familiar with the character. So red hair plus SHIELD equal Widow. I know I am not the only one who thought this because someone asked me.

I'm just happy wondy is finally getting the big screen treatment.

Bizarre that anyone thought the redhead was widow in cap 1. First time I've ever heard that one. The chick from the Mentalist looks nothing like scarjo for starters.

Except for the red hair...lol

Again, I'm not familiar with Marvel characters, but I did wonder. Someone asked me thinking I would know the answer because I read comics, but I had no clue. I thought it was supposed to be a stand in. Meh...lol. Shows how much I know about Marvel. :woot:

I've been thinking about Wonder Woman's role in Superman's sequel and given that Superman still needs to be properly introduced to audiences, Batman also needs to be introduced and at least one (possibly two) villains need to be introduced, I'm guessing that Wonder Woman will have a fairly small role. If so, I'm hopeful for a few scenes which really highlight her character. Perhaps something like the following.

- First scene could be an interview conducted by Clark Kent and Lois Lane of Princess Diana the Ambassador from the mysterious island nation of Themyscira. This would help to establish Superman's personality as "Clark Kent", Clark's role as a reporter for The Daily Planet, Clark and Lois' working relationship, Clark's interest in assessing potential "threats" to the safety of the world and could provide a very brief "summary" of Wonder Woman's origins. They could even address it openly by having Clark openly ask Diana why the Themyscirans have decided to reveal themselves now with Diana's answer presumably referring to the events of the first movie and the decision by the Amazons to send a representative to man's world (although Wonder Woman's origin film could potentially reveal that Diana defied her mother's orders in leaving Themyscira). Other good questions to quickly and efficiently reveal "Diana" would be for Clark to ask Diana about her rumoured "super abilities", her past interactions with the US military and in particular her assigned "minder" Steve Trevor, etc.

- Second scene could be a charity event in Gothan City where Princess Diana is the special guest of honour for one of Bruce Wayne's charities. This would help to establish Batman's "Bruce Wayne" persona as a playboy, but also reveal his charitable interests since "retiring" from being Batman (i.e. he still helps people in an alternative way), Bruce's interest in assessing potential threats, Diana's charitable/compassionate interests (especially if the charity was a women's shelter or maybe an orphanage) and potentially some Batman/Wonder Woman chemistry.

- Third and final scene could be Wonder Woman joining Batman and Superman in the climatic final battle with the villain. Wonder Woman could urge them to fight as a team instead of everyone doing their own thing. It would also be great if Wonder Woman simply calls them Clark and Bruce revealing that when they were both individually "questioning" her, she was similarly assessing them and determined their true identities and their heroic character. This would help to establish Wonder Woman's nurturing aspects in bring together the two quibbling heroes, evidencing her strategic knowledge about battles (when she suggests a battle plan which showcases each of their individual strengths) and her intelligence in learning their secret identities.
