Wonder Woman's Script Turned In

In a previous forum, there is a list of possible film release dates (based on tentative schedule and other upcoming films).

Sometimes they can put too much of their own spin on it, and they spin that **** right out of a profit.
Of course they can. And Whedon may do that. But we can't say that's what'll happen just yet.

All I can say is YES! I really hope Whedon has something special in store for us. And I'm sure he does, I also hope the script turns out to be a great one. This could open up a lot of doors if so. :)

Any Whedonite can tell you that Joss hates being given notes by studio/network execs. During all of his tv shows, he's rarely ever followed what the network told him to do.

With Serenity, the studio pretty much let him do what he wanted. But that was Joss' baby.

The question is whether Warner Bros believes in whatever Joss' vision of Wonder Woman is.

There no doubt will be several rewrites. I really doubt production could start until next summer. And Wonder Woman has to be a summer film. Fourth of July would be the a good possible release date, or Memorial Day. Probably 2008, if not 2009.

Does any one out here have contact info for Silver's Company or Mutant Enemy. This rumor about Katherine McPhee is pissing me off. I need to send them a letter or something letting them no that even thinking about her Wonder Woman is Bull****!:down

there has been several rewrites already. they've been passing it off as just "the first rewrite" since last year.

if they play up the whole star-spangled banner thing. but if they're gonna go with the greek emphasis and if WW will follow the "serious" streak like what BB and SR have been doing they would be better off releasing it as a winter movie.

I think that after SR's disappointing preformance, the WB is going to be a lot more picky about Whedon's script.

Jessica Beil for Wonder Woman!

There is a world of a difference, though, between Christopher Nolan's Batman, or Sam Raimi's Spider-Man, or even Bryan Singer's X-Men and say, Pitof's Catwoman, Rob Smigel's Green Lantern, or Brett Leonard's Man-Thing.

It's only appropriate when people here hear of Whedon's changes to the Wonder Woman mythos to worry that it results in one of the former and not one of the latter.

No it's not appropriate, it's only expected for this forum. All of the former had major costume changes, DRASTIC villain revisions and changes to the powerset. Each and every one (with the possible exception of Spider-Man's costume). Fans for some reason don't figure out that they don't care about changes to the character. They'll gobble it up on Batman and spit it out on Superman. There are other factors in play.

It will likely go the way of Superman because people in general, don't care about the character of Wonder Woman. They don't relate to her, buy her comics or put her on their 'top ten heroes' teams. Nothing wrong with the character, there's just a disconnect between her and the average comic fan. She has fans, but she has many MANY indifferents.

So when the movie comes out there will be changes, and, with Joss around the spirit of the character and the greek origins will remain intact. The appeal of the character will be there, but if that didn't get you reading the comics, it's not going to get you liking the movie. But guess what? There will be changes, too... less chagnes than Singer's XMen, but changes nonetheless and we can peg those for our dissappointment... blame Whedon for doing the same thing Singer and Raimi did, lampoon the movie as WhedonWoman or WWINO ("we know"), and STILL not care a lick about Wondy, buy her comics, build fansites for her or anything like that.

That's how it works. This "changes from the canon" stuff is misleading, miscontruction and myth, and makes no sense in the face of complete visual overhauls like the X-Men and Spider-Man movies.

Sweet. I'm glad the film is moving along more and more. Hopefully this script turns out to be a good one, and was get a decent WW film. I got my own faith in Whedon, so I think he'll do fine. I'm glad he's trying to bring life to the character's story matriel then focusing on casting too soon.

Sorry dude, but I don't think she'll get it. Even though she was rumored before. :)
I want her for the role but I just know somebody lame is going to get it.

Eh, I think someone not that well known is going to get it IMO.

Thats a fair statement.

Personally, I can easily see WB atleast attempting to give Joss a hard time with the script and wanting rewrites. But I sincerely hope that this doesnt cause Joss to lose some of his passion to bring in an awesome, as well as truly unique Wonder Woman film to the masses.

Even though I dont think her age is that big of an issue, I really wish the lovely Jennifer Connelly was atleast 5-8 years younger. Her chances would likely be much greater than they are now, even though her current age would make her a great contemporary for Christian Bale's Batman I think. I've always thought Connelly would be great in the role, and even though I am at the moment leaning more towards Morena Baccarin as WW, since a younger/less known actress is more likely to land the role, Jennifer Connelly will always be my first choice.

Our thoughts are one. Exactly what I have been thinking.

I suspect that a lot of WB´s potential issues with the script with be related to budget. After spending so much money on SR and not seeing it deliver as expected at the BO, they´re likely to not let Whedom go too crazy with the scope of the movie. If you can´t make more than 370-380m out of Batman and Superman, there´s no point to throw 150m-plus at Wonder Woman.

Yeah, I would be really surprised if WW's budget was any higher than 100 million.

depends on the script, the creative team they hire and what WB ultimately plans for the WW movie. if they're gonna mold the film into some kind of summer tentpole i can see the budget going above $100M, but probably not over $150M. $100M doesnt buy quite as much as it used to in the old days specially if they plan to shoot most of the film domestically.
