Spoke to Bay this morning...

...as I said, he will post later on later regarding the designs (when I say later it could mean tonight or in a couple of days).

Among some of the stuff:

-They (Bay & Co.) are commited to maintaining total secrecy about this project until it hits the screen. We spoke of how there was no surprise factor to Peter Jackson's King Kong. You knew the whole movie ahead of time. There are some in the team who believe the audience's first peak of the robots in their normal mode should be when they sit down to watch the movie in the theater (in other words, no sneak peak of them in their normal mode in the trailers).

-The reasons why they went with a huge long nose truck for OP (BTW, regarding the flames, there is a context for them like Orci pointed out). Bay said they did test with flat noses (FN) for scale purposes, and the FN would only be about 20 to 25 feet tall, so they went with the biggest truck they could find: the Peterbilt. We're talking 40 to 50 foot tall robots here. The physics for these robots have to be real...aka no magically disappearing parts. Also, OP is going to have much more red than what was shown in the supposedly "leaked" photo.

-Regarding the designers... all I can say is he said they all had to be fans of the show in order to get their jobs.

-Regarding the Ludacris rumor...no, he does not have a part in TF.

Take it as you will.

ya didn't have to make 3 threads, ya dork. glad to hear OP will have more red....maybe we won't have nearly as many complainers.

makes sense....
I also agree with the secretcy as I mentioned in another thread the first time we should see the robots should be in the movie

There going to do exactly what they did with War Of The Worlds. By not showing there bot modes but only just there alt modes in the trailers and TV spots most likely.

I am fine with that...I am just tired of going to a movie and knowing everything about it(while I type this I did notice the irony of posting this in the spoiler thread)

What context could the flames possibly have?

you may have to see the movie to find out...maybe Optimus is undercover

"We spoke of how there was no surprise factor to Peter Jackson's King Kong"

Well no ****.

"There are some in the team who believe the audience's first peak of the robots in their normal mode should be when they sit down to watch the movie in the theater (in other words, no sneak peak of them in their normal mode in the trailers"

Hope they don't win over:o

"and the FN would only be about 20 to 25 feet tall, so they went with the biggest truck they could find: the Peterbilt."

As I thought. Makes complete sense. And I always thought a long nose looks better:o

"BTW, regarding the flames, there is a context for them like Orci pointed out"

riiight. I'd love to hear that one.

"Regarding the Ludacris rumor...no, he does not have a part in TF."

...I never even heard that:confused:

"Regarding the designers... all I can say is he said they all had to be fans of the show in order to get their jobs."

Good to hear if true.

"no magically disappearing parts"

I hope the trailer still dissapears. Just for the hilarity factor.

Maybe some young guy bought Prime and had him painted, and Prime will reveal himself and be pissed at him.

THe long nose truck might look really good in vehicle mode but it totally changes primes look when he transforms into robot mode, because he cant have the truck face chest anymore, unless you want his chest to stick out 20 feet because of the long nose.

Prime will look nothing like his GEN 1 self in this movie because of this.

You know, that sounds like a very good possibility.

We don't really know how the long nose will transform. It may split up and part will become his torso etc.

I thought something like that, but with some punks painting OP while he is in truck mode...

There are multiple pictures of a decent looking gen 2 Prime with the truck face chest floating around here with the long nose portion forming his shoulders. I doubt Bay's design crew is going to go this route because that still leaves quite a boxy shape and Bay's crew hints that the designs will be very angular.

Going all the way to the release date without showing any of the robot modes is probably the silliest idea in the history of creation.

The rest I'm taking with a pinch of salt for now, except to say that there's no context where Prime should be daubed in flames.

Maybe he enters a tractor pulling contest and they deck him out to intimidate the competition...and then he transforms and squishes the competition.

I'm going to be nice and am trying to say that in the least offensive way possible, could you please be quite and stop your whining about his chest sticking out 20 feet?

You've already been proven wrong at least twice in the leaked picture thread.

There you have it. Armada and Generation 2 Optimus were both Long nose Trucks and neither of them had a 20 feet long chest.

Can it get any cornier than the "Optimus Prime" tatoo on his chest?
And is that horrid hunchback bookbag thing on his back the rest of the cab?
And is he plastic too?
No wonder Transformers has continously never recaptured any of its G1 phenom.

Actually that's quite wrong...the long front could swing down and split, becoming part of Prime's legs or it could come up to form a large portion of his arms/shoulder pads...either way we'd still get the window section as Prime's chest, and maybe with a "grill-like" designed abdominal area too.

That's why I stick to Takara products...like the upcoming Masterpiece Starscream *drool*.

That's actually one of the best-made Prime molds...the G2 Decals and colors aside, the mold itself is incredible. The repaint of it as RID Scourge is extremely well-done.
Here:

And yes he's plastic, because by that point in time, when he came out Metal was taken out of Transformers...mainly due to the fact that back then a new toy guideline had been issued, stating children's toys around that size couldn't have but a certain weight in proportion to the size of the toy. That has been changed once again, but back then they had gotten a bit strict with the toy laws.

How about having his name and a picture of him across the whole tank?

No humans, don't pay attention to me. I'm not a giant robot disguised as a Truck.

G2 was a great storyline (comics)...and had some good sculpted and designed toys, but yeah stuff like that just hurts the brain.

How about this as a compromise?

Would you rather see silhouettes of the robot modes and save the actual robot forms for the movie?
