And so it begins.

Producer Michael G. Wilson broke the news today that work has begun on Bond 23

In a very brief interview with The Sun during the Ivor Novello Awards at the Grosvenor House hotel in London last night, the longtime James Bond producer said: ‘We have started work on the new film, which I can’t say anything about. Daniel Craig is very keen to get going.’

While that was all he would reveal about the latest Bond production, Wilson went on to speak about future contenders for 007 themes after Welsh singing sensation Duffy won the PRS Most Performed Work award at the event.

‘I would love to get Duffy to sing the next tune,’ he said. ‘I think she is wonderful. Amy Winehouse would be good too.’

CommanderBond.net readers will recall (here and here) that both singers were contenders for the Quantum of Solace title theme.

With this news that things are finally beginning to get going on Bond 23, it’s safe to assume that further details, reports and all of those fun rumours will soon follow in the future. Good to hear, hopefully they'll get a move on. Probably going to be a fall 2010 release?

Also, Muse for Bond theme

i just hope that the villain will be awesome. and bring back Q.

Muse, Radiohead, Duffy, Buble, Massive Attack would all be good choices for the Bond theme. Winehouse is to cracked out to work right now.

Lets get this film to be more like Casino, but a bit more noirish like the older Connery films and it's time to introduce Moneypenny and Q!

Duffy is actually a very solid choice for the song.

I just hope that we get a CR vibe with this next film.

I could very well see Duffy doing the theme. She has a nice voice

What the **** is it with them and Amy Winehouse?

YOKO ****ING KANNO! LOOK AT THE MISTRESS OF MUSIC!

I hope we get a more fuller Bond experience. I think Quantum of Solace was a good movie but ultimately a misstep and a disappointment compared to Casino Royale. Pretty anticlimactic as well.

QOS suffered, script-wise, from the writer's strike -- I was disappointed with it, especially since CR was a good, solid Bond movie. QOS was just an empty, Bourne-style movie with Bond and M in it.

Broccoli and Wilson need to get a solid script before they snag a director.

My problem is that because Quantum of Solace was pretty much Bourne, it took away the uniqueness of James Bond as a franchise. It's one thing to be influenced by pop culture, a James Bond standard, but in QoS, it was a little too much for me.

God, Winehouse ofr the theme? No....

Muse and I like the mention of Duffy.

I don't really care who's gonna sing the song (IMO it'll be hard to top Goldeneye anyway).....I just want bits of casting :hehe:

Yup.
And to compensate for the "lack "of storylines , the producers just included one action sequence after another.
Although i don't consider QoS a good sequel , i do think that it's a solid movie on it's own. However the producers ( or for that matter anyone else) should really reconsider the MTV-BOURNE shakey cam style of filming. In fact i am willing to go so far to say that if someone wants to use that particular style of filming , he/she should be sodomised for all eternity.
Seriously is it so hard to keep the camera focused on one thing ? Casino Royale was very well shot.

Anyway , i just hope that the producers ( and Craig) decide to focus on the story this time around.
Also what are the chances of MArtin Campbell returning ? Campbell is currently busy with GReen Lantern

I personally find CR over-rated, so wouldnt mind if they kept the darker tone of QoS, but yeah, cut out the crazy editing and add more story and character this time. One other thing they should keep from QoS is the 'britishness' also, CR felt like an american movie made for americans to me, QoS had that vintage britishness that I felt CR lacked.

Forget Duffy if you are going to go down the "white female soul singer" route choose Adele she is 10 times the singer duffy is but unfortunately her average looks and her being slightly overweight is keeping her from even greater fame then she has now.

Another great singer i would personally use is former American Idol winner Fantasia Barrino who ha one of the most wonderfully original voices i have ever heard.

We all know QOS was prety poor stuff it was rushed to capitalise on the success of CR which i agree seemed to Bourne and not enough Bond (something both movies are imo). I will never really like Craig as Bond, he looks like a thug who seems permenantly to look like he will either punch you in the face or burst out crying, but we are stuck with him now the Aingst over Vesper is over maybe they can try to bring back the charm bond has he will never be a connery, brosnon or moore in this department but if they make him a permanently totured soul i am done with this "new style" of Bond it plays far to much to an american audiance for my liking.

Back on the song/singer debate whcih is the best ever Bond Song i all your opinions?

Either would be great, though personally Winehouse would be perfect for me.

Morgan Freeman as Q
Christian Bale as Rouge Agent (villain)
Chris Nolan as director (the man is a bond fanboy)

Craig Vs. Bale.... BRITISH FIGHT!!!

Who do people like for Bond villain?

Michael Fassbender
Still a relatively small name, but he's an excellent actor with great on-screen presence and is someone who would stand up well to Daniel Craig in my opinion. He's also supremely talented with slipping into different accents, so could pretty much play anyone.

Agreed, he is awesome and is set for a big couple of years with IB, Centurion, and others, a great performance in 300 also, has the physique and acting skills to pose a threat, excellent suggestion.

I still say Christian Bale... someone who can really go toe-to-toe with Craig's Bond...
He should play a Patrick Bateman type character...

While this is hardly huge news, I find it very exciting. A new Bond movie is always good news, and time to speculate about the title, the villain and all that. Bring it on!

God bless you, matrix_ghost.

I agree completely, ANYONE who still thinks this annoyingly crazy MTV style of filmmaking is the new fad (*ahem Dan Bradley*) should really get fired, especially if they're editing the film.

'Casino Royale' had beautiful cinematography thanks to Phil Meheux and Second Unit Director Alexander Witt, which I believe was reminiscent to the beautiful locales seen in Bond past.

The thing about 'Quantum of Solace', which everyone has pointed out, was its lack of story. I still think it had some redeeming values (Daniel Craig, M in a larger role, the opera scene) but yes, in no way was it due to the plot really. There were some good dialogue, very British (as AVEITWITHJAMON pointed out), but that's pretty much it.

I think it served as a book-end or epilogue to 'Casino Royale' at best, and a movie you would need to see immediately afterward to appreciate it a little more.

I really hope they still keep some grittiness and the whole "grounded in reality" concept. Yes, humor is a must but don't make it "clownish" or Daniel Craig-lite.

Zoë Saldana or Emily Blunt as Moneypenny! :O

I vote Metallica for the new Bond theme.
It's probably a stupid choice, but their calmer songs like Unforgiven, sorta give me the impression that maybe they could do something unique and badass for the new movie. Plus, Craig's made Bond more of a tough-as-nails beast, so maybe Metallica fits?

As an epilogue to Casino Royale it fails IMHO because I mean you have this big deal about finding out that Vesper's lover was an evil spy, and I mean, he should've been a villain. They made it seem like Dominic Green was the guy who killed Vesper.
