As an IT consultant, this is damned scary stuff...

I know this really more of a techie thing, but it's pretty important, so I put it here so more will see...

Gotta be sure of sources before DL. There are some nasty scripts out there on top of all kinds of shady hosting sites that this stuff can come from.

Our IT department at work sent out a notice about this a couple of times.

Unfortunately, it won't stop the morons I work with from clicking on sketchy email links even when I tell them not to.

The wellness center by me gets these seniors that are RABID coupon clipers and keep going to coupon sites that freeze up the computer they're at. Time and again I tell them do NOT go to coupon sites. Go to STORE websites, they're MUCH safer

But those coupons are for like an extra 5% off. That's like a whole nickle.

Yeah, that was some serious ****. The world gets more and more like syndicated 90s tv every day.

This thing ain't no joke, it's still going on. Apparently this 22 year old dude found a way to halt it, but the cynic in me says he was in on it.

Gotta be sure of sources before DL. There are some nasty scripts out there on top of all kinds of shady hosting sites that this stuff can come from.

Some of these are quite well crafted and hard to identify as fake unless you are either very observant or paranoid.

That being said, always implement security patches as soon as possible and don't put it off. This thing was patched in March and should not be the threat it is now.
