Was looking at a bio of actor Oscar Isaac and it occured to me how much he kind of looks like Mr. Sinister and in some ways, how little he looks like Apocalypse.

Now don't get me wrong. I think that Oscar Isaac is an amazing actor and will probably do very well in this role. Besides, he seems to be a fan and wants to make the character the best it can be, which is great!

We know that he's being cast as Apocalypse, but at the same time I've been expecting and hoping that Sinister would be announced, as he is so ingrained in the story of Apocalypse.

But since Sinister has not been announced, and with the look of Oscar, it got me thinking...

What if they are going to turn Apocalypse into an amalgamation of both Apocalypse and Sinister?

Truly hoping that this will NOT be the case, but with Singer and Kinberg, anything is possible?

Thoughts? Would you want Mr. Sinister in this movie or a future movie, or would a combination of the two into one entity work for you?

No he doesn't.
Looks more like Middle East/North Africa guy than English guy.

Oh dear if they combined Essex and Eh Sabah Nur into 1 person.. I wouldnt be happy.

Right there with you psylockolussus! This is now my new, and latest concern, and unfortunately, it's something I could see them doing!

Yes, I agree with kasjan that Oscar has a middle eastern look, but that's mainly skin tone. In both cases, Sinister or Apocalypse, the skin tone is different, so that would be less of a factor. With the shape of his face, hair color and style, nose, eyes, etc.; I see a closer reseblance to Sinister than I do Apocalypse.

So here's a good question to get debate going...

How would you characterize Apocalypse and Sinister and what is the main differences between the two as far as motivation, style, character, etc. that you would not want to see combined?

they won't make 2 villains into 1 villain because they likely will wanna save Mr Sinister for another movie

That's what I would hope is the case, but...

Wouldn't you have thought that Sinister would have been cast by now in this Apocalypse movie?

Not really i ain't expecting Mr Sinister to be in it at all and kinda surprised anyone else would expect that

they will likely play it safe and cast Mr Sinister when they are actually using him as the Main villain as to cast him now they would have to have a plan for the next movie and i honestly doubt they do, its likely all about this film right now and to expect Mr Sinister because of the comics... probably best not too

Mr Sinister is a very interesting villain it would be great if they finally introduce him!

Guess the way I look at it is that Sinister and Apocalypse have very often been associated. It would have been great to show that association in this movie, with Sinister being subserviant and not being in the final battle. In fact, someone like Sinister could have/be the one to take the defeated Apocalypse and put him into the regen chamber so there is the possible threat of Apocalypse coming back.

Not only would this introduce Sinister, but it could set him up to be a main villain, with an origin story, sometime in the future in one of a number of movies, from a future X-Men movie, to Gambit, Cable, etc...

In fact, Sinister is who he is because of Apocalypse (though that is something they could easily retcon - which I could see them doing). Also, this could have been a great opportunity to show Sinister when Cyclops was recruited (the whole orphanage thing). Ultimatley, Sinister has been, for generations, bidding his time to take down Apocalypse, which is why he puts into motion the events that results in the birth of Nathan.

To me, Sinister's involvement with Apocalypse makes him more interesting and a bigger threat, though they can just forgo all of that and make him a scientist focused on evolution and manipulating DNA, which is how he becomes augmented. They could still make him focused on the Summers bloodline, or whatever, even if it's not about defeating Apocalypse, but to me this is/was such an opportunity to introduce such an important character!

I mean, who really looks like Apocalypse?

I certainly hope they don't combine the characters. But speaking of Sinister, I think Jude Law would be great in that role.

Well, off the top of my head...

Just want to point out that Isaac is 5'-8" tall.

For perspective, that's about the same height as McAvoy!

And Ben Hardy is 5'-10", taller than Isaac!

So... CGI or what, cause Apocalypse better be an imposing character, bigger than those who are subserviant to him!

none of them look like apocalypse. AT ALL some may have an imposing phsyique but look like him? NO.

ROFLZ @ the rock looking like apocalypse.

Now Brian Thompson is the only face I can think of but thats just being mean IMO

Lol, what's his height go to do with it?

Tom Hardy is 5'9 and look at how he looked as Bane.

Spader is 5'10 and Ultron is an 8 Foot Tall Robot. They made that work just fine.

He will be. It'll be a mix of CGI and practical effects like Isaac said a while ago.

I also hope they do NOT merge Sinister and Apocalypse.

That would be wrong on every level.

I like that animated episode of Sinister's origins where he exists back in the time of Charles Darwin, or something like that, and how he used experiments to give himself abilities and longevity. Not that i want to encourage too much more of the decade-hopping.

They already did it in First Class.
Mixed Shaw with Sinister.
Shaw in FC was Dr. Schmidt and he was excited of mutant genes. It's Sinister's personality trait.

You can say the same thing to Trask so not really. They didnt say Essex wasnt on Shaw's body and mind.

IMO the biggest difference between what Sinister should be and what Trask or Shaw were is what he would do with the knowledge gleamed through the nefarious acts that he would use to get the data.

Shaw was trying to unleash certain individual's powers. He wasn't, as far as we were told, trying to understand the DNA of these individuals, or try to take those powers, while Trask was trying to take that information and apply it to his own ideas to create better technology, that could be used against mutants. This makes Shaw similar to Stryker.

Sinister, per the comicbooks, understood the true threat that was Apocalypse and he had a two-fold purpose. He augmented his own DNA, to make himself more powerful, while also working towards creating a superior mutant who could go up against the threat of Apocalypse.

The motivations are everything when it comes to these villains!
