i would do it for for the critical acclaim

The love of movies and critical acclaim. I would want my name to go down in history.

Definitely for the fun of it,but eventually I would probably get obsessed with Critical Acclaim.

this is how i see it

If you do it for Fame - you become like Brett Ratner
If you do it for money - you become michael bay
if you do it for acclaim - you do oscar bait films
do it for fun of making movies - you get danny boyle or chris nolan

I'll direct movies for the money and the fun. Then I'll become Kevin Smith.

id do it to entertain people... that'd be my main goal in making a film

but i would have to get paid lol

For me I guess the big one would be to entertain. I would try to be double edged with it, though, I'd set out to make a entertaining but I would still want to also use that movie to explore themes I found relevant. There's nothing wrong with popcorny entertainment or anything, but I know if I were in those shoes I would want to at least express something with my work.

As far as money, well, we all need money to live, but I think I would be okay if I made enough to help keep me and a potential family decent financially with a little wayward to splurge on some things. I'm pretty easy to satisfy honestly as far as materialism is concerned.

Critical Acclaim would be nice, but I tend to not give a **** about stuff like that. It'd be cool to be praised and lauded but I don't think I'd do anything purely for that reason

That poll needs more options.

I'd like to bring back the funny spoof movie like Spaceballs, Air Plane, or Hot Shots.

So I guess I'd do it for the comedy fans.

And if you do it for all of the above you become Steven Spielberg. :cwink:

i think you can't put a director in one of these categories.
its a mixture from all of them...

For fun and to hopefully resurrect some careers (Wesley Snipes I'm looking at you).

I would make movies because it would be what i love doing. Critical Acclaim and money are all part of the machine of making a movie but i believe if you make films then you have a belief in what you are doing and you care for the project and you would enjoy what you are making.

I think every good director does it because they enjoy it.

So I could sleep on a big pile of money next to some beautiful women.

To quote a better man than I, "For the money, for the glory, and for the fun. Mostly for the money." :woot:

I would direct for the fun of movies, not too bothered about the money but if I get decent income, then that's just fine.

As for Critical acclaim, I would not give a s**t what Critics think since they like Oscar bait movies.

I would revive genre's such as the badass 80's/early 90's action movies, serious Crime movies with Neo-noir visual style.

Also, I would direct comic book movies that are moderately true to the source material.

For the fun. But honestly, if I got critical acclaim for one film, I might seek it more actively in subsequent films.

For the fun of making your vision come true.
