I've been thinking about this for quite sometime. I love the first film, and think it's a classic (but can live without the rest of the franchise).
I've watched this film many times, and always think 'what if?'
What if they expanded on the mythology of the immortals? What is the prize? A greater understanding of the quickening? All these questions are never really answered in the film, nor for that fact in the TV series.
I would love to follow the journey of Connor Macloed (Not Duncan, Quintan etc) from his beginnings in scotland to the final battle... the gathering. I'd really love to see this world given some real epic treatment.
Highlander is such a great concept that, while some films shouldn't be remade, some should, and I believe Highlander is one of them, even if it is considered a classic (and i consider it to be).
Who here agrees? Imagine it. You follow Connor on his quest to find out about the immortals. Why do they exist? What's the purpose? Going through the ages. Each minute revealing that little more until the end when the big reveal occurs.
This franchise has so much potential that the original film only really faintly scratched the surface with.
Only with the right writers and director could Highlander be turned into an epic classic.
