LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- Paris Hilton will serve about half of her 45-day jail sentence and will be separated from the general inmate population, authorities said.
The hotel heiress will spend about 23 days in a "special needs housing unit" at the Century Regional Detention Center in suburban Lynwood, Los Angeles County sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore said.
Her sentence was shortened after jail officials gave her credit for good behavior, Whitmore said. Officials considered several factors in calculating the credit, including that she appeared for her latest court date, he said.
Hilton will stay in a unit that contains 12 two-person cells reserved for police officers, public officials, celebrities and other high-profile inmates, he said.
Like everyone else in the 2,200-inmate facility, Hilton will get at least an hour outside her cell each day to shower, watch television, participate in outdoor recreation or talk on the telephone, he said.
The 26-year-old socialite was sentenced to jail this month for violating the terms of her probation in an alcohol-related reckless driving case. A judge ordered her to report to jail by June 5.
A call to her lawyer, DUI specialist Richard Hutton, was not immediately returned. Her publicist, Elliot Mintz, declined to comment.

... I thought celebrities were not supposed to be above the law?

good behavior my ass, she slept with those guards.

Good behaviour... wait, isn't she being locked up for BAD bahaviour?

laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame!!! seriously, thats f**ked.

The "Good Behavior" thing was put in there by the media, her sentence was reduced because of prison overcrowding CRDF (the lockup she's going to) is the only local all female facility, and a such it is nearly at capacity. Hilton will serve a lesser sentence to make room for harsher offenders.

I think I could accept that.

**** the media.

That's pretty much what I figured.

They should just beat her for an hour instead of sending her to jail.

lock her up in Rikers!

ugh i can't stand her

Make it a full 24 hours with no breaks using heavy duty rattan canes and i will support your proposal.

I buy that.
You "buy" the idea that she slept with the guards to reduce her time? Despite the fact that she hasn't served ANY time yet and has had ZERO contact with any guards? She doesn't even go in until June 5th.

You know shes going to have 0 jail time
Yeah her jail time is mandatory though so... you know... it's only the law.

I can understand all this distaste for her and the disbelief that she will serve time. Now, I hate her just as much as the next person with a f**king brain, and I hate her ignorant, stuck-up excuse for a mother just as much; but the fact remains that she broke the law, TWICE, and she's doing time, it may be minimal, but she's going in.

This f**king "CSI Effect" is only perpetuating the scavenger attitude of the media. If any of you had any sense you stay the hell away from Network "News" altogether.

This is my favorite part:
"Her sentence was shortened after jail officials gave her credit for good behavior, Whitmore said. Officials considered several factors in calculating the credit, including that she appeared for her latest court date, he said."

So now actually appearing for court constitutes good behavior? Have we as a society lowered the bar that much? We are now giving rewards to people for doing what they are supposed to do? The older I get the less the world makes sense.

I knew she would get off. I reckon they should put her in a room for 23 days and let members of the public come in and kick the crap out of her. Thats Justice.

I say she wont you know what these celebs are like, you watch her jail time will be non existant and she will just get community service or some **** like that

She's not getting off. It's an appropiate sentence. What is she supposed to get extra time for being famous and blonde? She was barely at the legal limit, and almost every single adult in this country has committed the exact same crime.

I saw on the news the other day that in a poll something like 90% of the country wanted the book thrown at her.

I think everybody is just acting like a hypocrite here. It's not like she's some horrible criminal. Because of the innacuracy of the breathalyzer used on her, there is a small chance that she wasn't even over the limit.

She had one measily light drink. and got in a car like 20 minutes later. I'm sure every person in this thread has done it before.

"Her sentence was shortened after jail officials gave her credit for good behavior, Whitmore said. Officials considered several factors in calculating the credit, including that she appeared for her latest court date, he said."

... is a misquote. They only "spoke" with one "jail official", Steve Whitmore. He's a SPOKESPERSON not a "jail official" and what he actually said was.

Steve Whitmore said:
"But under Los Angeles county regulations she will receive good behavior credits at the start of her sentence. Provided she behaves well, she could be released after 23 days."

I hope one of the other inmates injects some gasoline into the lightbulb in her cell.

you gusy also have to realize that because she's famous and would be a target, she will be in solitary confinement and not put in with the general population.

Do you have any idea how hard that time is to serve? It's like torture almost. She is being plenty punished. Solitary confinement is not like regular jail.

I know. There won't be anyone to pay attention to her in solitary. It'll be hell for her.

Showing up for my court dates never won me any favors.:cmad:
