WW maybe set in the 1920's.

I was thinking with Ares... and as a battle and scenario we have Wonder Woman and the Amazons facing all time deceased warriors since ancient very ancient times to the present day.. I even can think of this villain for the JL with that type of scenario. Imagine the potential :wow:

WB would be a bit stupid to not have WW help lead us into JL that comes out the same year.

Why? It's not like it is going to help it's box office intake. I don't see how it helps or hurts anything either way.

A period set WW could work.Depending on execution.

Howver that Rumoured execution sounds terrible.

HALF OF THE MOVIE ON THEMYSCIRAN WAR?Thats stupid.

This is WW movie not Themyscira movie. Dont drag out the Origin. The other Half sounds wayyyy too political

I don't think the first half will feature the war. It'll explore Themysciran life, including politics, religion and relationships. With all sorts of conflict that will keep us interested and ultimately lead up to the Amazon civil war. We'll likely see flashbacks of young Diana, hopefully Ares secretly training her. I also doubt they'll actually spend half the movie on the island.

And I don't see Diana heavily involved in politics once in man's world. Sure, she'll be appropriately dismayed that women just got the right to vote. She'll observe. But won't be attending or leading political rallies. They'll be some sort of adventure and grave danger to overcome.

What more have we heard of this rumor? Anything else?

Nope, nothing else except various forums across the net dissecting the rumor in a zillion different ways, which I promise makes for very interesting reading. :yay:

This could definately be something new to the genre.

Wonder Woman fighting zombies?!

So long as WW gets the zombie kill of the week. Maybe lasso off a zombies head followed by some cheesy pun like, "What's wrong? A little tight around the collar."

Picture it: a young Amazonian princess longs to honor her people by doing something of great importance. Suddenly, a plane crashes near her home. A man miraculously survives the fiery crash, but is quickly taken prisoner on this exotic island full of warrior women. The man meets a beautiful raven haired warrior named Diana to which he takes a liking to and shamelessly flirts to persuade her in releasing him. Diana finds is customs strange and is unsusceptible to his charms. A council is formed to what to do with the man. Hippolyta, Queen of the Amazons seems to conflicted with executing him or escorting him back to Man's World. Diana tries to convince her mother to allow her to be the one to escort him back, but Hippolyta outright denies this notion. She agrees to allow him back to his world, and to throw a tournament to decide who his escort shall be. The winner will be entrusted with sacred armor to help them on their journey. Diana disguises herself for the tournament and enters, winning every battle until she is victor. Hippolyta begrudgingly accepts her daughter's victory and gives her the armor as a prize. Diana takes Steve to Man's World where they have a run in with Axis troops as it is revealed that Steve has intel that could help the Allies win the war. Diana's escort mission turns into one of peace as she strives to end this war, but along the way learns to befriend the people of this world and to love one of them in Steve. It is then revealed Ares created the war in order to become more powerful and tries to prevent Steve from giving his intel to the Allies as he plans to prolong the war for as long as possible to increase his strength. Diana takes on each obstacle and finally takes on Ares herself. Steve dies in battle, but left his intel in a letter to Diana explaining why he had to fight and proclaiming his love for her and ends his note by calling her "Angel".

Nice plot idea, but I see strong potential for Unfortunate Captain america comparisons

Other than WWII being in the mix there are no parallels to Cap what so ever though.

I'd watch this movie for sure. It's basically the classic origin set in WW2 to boot. And I do think they need to go with classic origin regardless of time period. But the story needs multiple twists to keep throwing moviegoers for a loop. Like the rumor about vying Amazon factions, an Amazonian civil war (great for first solo, sets up potential Amazon villains for sequels--good). I also hope they go with an ancient evil imprisoned on the island ironically referred to as Paradise, with Amazons guarding and periodically losing their lives to contain the great evil behind Doom's Doorway. Ratchet up the conflict, keep tossing in unexpected plot points, come up with a cool mcguffin, give us new dangers and adventures in man's world. But please, please don't kill Steve. :yay:

Not too surprising if true. A period WW film has been talked about and thrown around for awhile now. I don't have any problem with it. It will come down to how compelling and fun the story is and execution of course.

I wouldn't be surprised if Rocks Black Adam is involved also.

You need to check this... It's World's Finest 28. In there is talking about Wonder Woman from Earth 2, who is centuries older, and yet beautiful :D

Seeing this comic, I could not be mad if they took some inspiration for the new Wonder Woman in live action. You must read it. :) Then if his origin (I'm talking about her age not her lover lol) is sort of like in this comic I wouldn't complain. But what do you think?

Yeah, I noticed this. Can you just jump in if you haven't read World's Finest before? (especially the previous week's issue featuring Superman & Batman)

^^^ Yes you can... Actually the World's Finest comic most of the time was about Power Girl and The Huntress (Earth 2)
This #28 issue is a "Secret Origin" for Wonder Woman in Earth 2 told by Lois Lane (Earth 2) Must read.

Stupidest ***** ever. Wonder Woman can and should be easily modernized, just like Thor.

I'd rather see modern day WW from the off.

We've not heard much about this since Maclaren was brought on board. I have a hard time thinking this was ever true. I'm willing to be proven wrong, but it always sounded like stuff made up just to ruffle feathers.

Good. This project is going to be challenging enough without a big extra complication like this.

Agreed.

I never wanted this, and also never believed it to be true.

Nothing has been confirmed one way or the other. The title says "maybe". There maybe a flashback sequence set in the 20's or during WW2 which would illustrate her immortality.

I realize bleeding cool has gotten stuff both wrong and right. I'm thinking Warner heard many pitches for the WW solo film and one take probably did start in the 20s and move forward in time for each movie. Whether that was MacLaren's winning pitch, I couldn't say. I do think it'd be a very interesting way to do the WW solos, especially if all the other DC-verse projects are set in modern-day.

Personally I prefer WW in her own universe. Her solo book under the Azz run was superb with no interaction with her fellow JL members. The main thing is that the script is good so the time this is set in shouldn't matter. It can be a period piece and then flash forward at the end to emphasise her immortality or start in the 20's and half way in fast forward to the present.
