Late 2004 i had an idea after x2 had been out in the cinemas and there was scarsly any talk of x-men 3. So i thought about an idea to do a spin off with some more gritty and dark elements for a tv show... My idea was simply "X-Factor" Originally i called it X-Factor: The Mutant Chronicles, but low and behold someone took Mutant Chronicles so the name changed to "X-Factor" but as you know for the uk people its a reality television series where people sing in a compertition. However my idea was still there for this spin off.

X-Factor...

The idea was to have a TV Mutant/Drama series like Mutant-X but be more successful. Mutant-X was quiet disappointing because everyone really was looking for the X-Men feel of which it didnt have nor belong to its universe. The idea i had was in X-Men 1 and X-Men 2, there were some dark tones however cos of the low rating it wasnt gritty enough. We needed something with a little more punch to it. However you cant just mimic a team like X-Men, a group of mutants travel new york stopping mutant related problems. Of which X-Factor was a more goverment verson of Xaviers dream.

So my idea was simply this, change the format. Make X-Factor have a different purpose, This of course was a Mutant Investigation team... Which somewhat seems to have appeared to happen to the current X-Factor Comics however my idea came first.

However unlike the comics my idea was to have this team investigate mutants who mimiced powers to some of the classic horror characters, Dracula, Wolfman, Frankenstines monsters, The mummy and so forth. But the big name characters have already appeared in the comic books already so i wanted it to be smaller, so some mutants who need blood to survive are mimicing vampires and causing histeory so forth.

The Team: what ive always seen on television is that you never really get more than 5 characters in a team. and usually one of them is absenst or stationary. Looking at the characters they've had in X-Factor, i believed they needed to swap a few characters around.

My Team: Consisted of Wolfbane, Strongman, Mutipleman and Magik, Magik has never been an X-Factor character as to Colossus little sister in the X-Men storys however i felt we needed a second female character with a more Magical quality. The team needed a leader and i liked the notion of Quicksilver being incharge however at the time i felt if they were going to make a 3rd X-Men or any future x-men movie that featured Magnetos family then Quicksilver would be saved for it. Which means we needed to look else where, no need really. Theres more than one Mutant with quick feet. And sothe idea was to introduce Northstar one of the first Openly gay mutants as the leader of this mutant team.

Northstar - lead command
Strongeman - was really the muscle guy / someone who cleaned up after them.
Wolfbane - was sort of field combat
Magik - became somewhat of a researcher and specialist
and
Multipleman - was the smart jerky kind of character who kind of had a comical relief over it all however at the same time provided some great knoweldge in the area.

So what you think so far? Theres more

13 episodes i forsaw starting with day one
The whole series/Seasons, well each series/season had some kind of an Arc. the first series arc was kind the loss of there captian. Jean-Paul Beaubier - the idea was to get you to like the character then take him away for the whole first series and have the four mutants try to search for him. Leading to his return in episode 13

Day One: File 00
File 00 was the very first story of which features Wolfbane heading to unknown where location ofstory would be, i felt new york was too done by x-men. anyway she is on her way to X-Factor as they opened recently and recurited her to join. This whole episode was a introduction story which introduced 1. the team, 2 the lose of there team leader and 3. The main villian. And who was that villian? Cameron Hodge - a human? yes, someone who is out for revenge and has inlisted the help of some unsavory mutant villians to torment Northstar and his team. By the end of the episode Northstar and Hodge are transported threw a reality shift of which leaves both the goodies and the baddies without a leader. Now Multipleman takes charge and has to keep the team working together to find Northstar.

How do you like it?
