X-Men ‘97 X-Men ‘97 News and Discussion Thread (TAG SPOILERS!!!!)

I would welcome a Motendo game, right now.

Episode 4 was fabulous. It was fun and at the same time great growth for Jubilee, and then on the second half, honestly no one can do Storm justice the way Alison Sealy Smith does her.

That damn Beau DeMayo strikes again.

Are they actively trying to use Gambit as little as possible? :waa:

It's my least favorite episode, though I think that's largely because they linked two segments together, that I felt were a mismatch , for me at least.
I appreciate others may see it differently , but it felt like a jarring parring for my taste.

So, if i'm looking at them as two separate episodes , as opposed to one episode , I'd give both a B, with the Jubilee episode being the better of the two ,IMO.

That was a fun distraction episode, the first half was a lot of nostalgia and gave Jubilee and Sunspot some attention for a bit and the 90's themes and levels were such a kick, got some real Matrix and Into the Spiderverse vibes as well, the animation was so good in this part.

The second half felt more like a set up for the next episode but again it was good to focus on Storm for a bit on her personal quest to get her powers back potentially so it served more purpose than the first half even if that was a bit more fun and actiony.

Just a shame you have to wait a full week for the next episode.

Rewatching the original series I noticed that Wolverine was much more prominent in the show, and so far this new series hasn’t done much with our beloved character. He gets a few lines here and there but that’s about it. Maybe that will change in Season 2.

Nah we good, keep giving us Wolverine in doses. We've had enough of him the last 20 years.

You say that as if its a bad thing. We're fine with him being in the background for once

I wonder who from Forge team picture is still around and may appear. I don't know all of those characters that well.

I like that they’re updating the intro along the way. Also, I noticed they keep adding more and more scenes from the Dark Phoenix Saga. I wonder if that’s a sign of things to come?

I agree with the others. One of the best things about '97 is that the story giving the other X-Men some love and spotlight.

Logan led most of the X-Men movies and had an entire trilogy for him. The last cartoon was focused on him. He's coming back as a title character in the MCU this year. And he's getting a new game soon, which is supposed to be the first of an X-Men trilogy. So 1/3 of the X-Men trilogy will be solely focused on him.

Sorry Logan fans, but I'd be more than happy if he was completely absent for all upcoming seasons and replaced by any other X-Man.

I agree with you. This was my least favorite episode. I did not like how it was divided.

It would've rathered an entire episode for Jubilee in Mojo world, and an entire episode focused om Storm.

Also, was it just me or anybody else thought this mojo episode would be fully in 8bits? That was kind of misleading because I thought Magik, Alex and Longshot would be in this episode based on the previous released images.

Edit:

I think this was the image that had me thinking it would've been an entire episode, and feature multiple characters.

Oh, last comment: I loved seeing easter eggs of the future X-Factor spin-off, but I did not like seeing Rahne there since she's going to be in the New Mutants spin off with Beto.:o

The Mojo episodes were the worst part of the old series, and that hasn't changed in the revival. I would have much rather watched Genosha being admitted into the U.N. than Jubilee and her boyfriend running around in a video game. :loco: Given what happened to Storm at the U.N., it would have served as a more fitting lead-in to the second part of the episode.

Thankfully, Lifedeath Pt. 1 saved the episode from being a complete waste. I wish we could have spent more time with Storm and Forge and seeing them get to know each other. Otherwise, I like how they adaped the original story, particularly having them out in the desert with nature.

I'm sorry, I'm still laughing about...

Forge is over here making his special buffalo chili for Storm, taking her horseback riding, pledging his undying love for her and Ororo looks that man in his face and just

Also loved the implications that could be made about that 'trusting those in Washington' line.
