“You were expecting black leather?” - The MCU X-men costume thread

Hi all,

Today I would love to chat about which costumes the x-men should wear when they debut.

I would love to see Storm in her white outfit.

As for Cyclops, I think giving James Marsden 97 look in Doomsday would be cool but then the mcu x- men could have this look

The iconic 90s costumes are going to be used for the Ot cast.

But I think we would still see those for the reboot cast, but with different details.

Yeah I would love to see that too.

I would love to see Emma wearing something like this. She’s going to be the watershed moment I think because we’re sort of in a more conservative era and they did kind of desex the human torch a bit but hopefully they don’t try that with Emma because she is meant to be an over the top dynasty type character

Emma will probably be toned down to a point, but she is a sexual character by her very nature.

I expect the costumes to be more faithful and comic book inspired than what we got in FoX-Men.

However, the more outlandish ones, would be toned down or would be modernized. Though I don't expect Emma Frost to be one of them. She wears white and sexy clothes but not really costumey compare to a lot of X-Men.

I'd hope they do away with the head gear thing for Gambit, but he does have to have his long coat.

Rogue is basically just stick her in something green.

I wouldn't want Jean Grey on a battlefield in her Marvel Girl costume, it just doesn't look like something you'd take seriously.

THey did quite well with Emma Frost's outfits in First Class so maybe something similar for the MCU.

I don't like the red and blue costumes, it's just too reminiscent of Spiderman and the combination doesn't suit the X-Men characters in my opinion.

Cyclops' costume are always blue.

The members of the X-Men each have their indiviual costume color schemes even if a lot of them uses blue and red in their costume, there's a different color included in the color scheme.

Blue/white - Iceman, Angel
Red/white - Angel
Blue/yellow - Cyclops, Dazzler
Red/gold - Phoenix
Blue/white - Havok
Red/yellow - Colossus

I'm talking purely about the red and blue combination like the Jean Grey pic you posted rather than costumes that have red or blue in them alongside other colours. Rogue looks awful in the red and blue costume.

I think they would use it for some of the X-Men. But all of them? Storm, Jean, Cyclops, Beast, Gambit and Psylocke have so many costumes in the comics to use as a reference.

I don't see Psylocke wearing a one piece bikini in multiple mcu films.

Except Psylocke because the actress would be constantly cold and uncomfortable haha

I'm not really beholden to any particular era/set of costumes of the X-Men; I'm fine if they pick & choose for different characters.

BUT things I'd like to avoid...
- Black leather, i.e. the Morrison/Quitely years
- Classic / OG 60s blue & yellow, i.e. the First Class look
- Leather jackets for characters other than Gambit & Rogue

For Gambit, the long leather jacket is a must. Rogue too since its part of her most iconic costume.

We already saw the orange/brown suit for the Wolverine.

Dazzler's costumes in that pic are also possible since those two are some of her signature costumes.
