Sneak preview: the opening sequence of X-Men 5.

BLACK SCREEN:

Nothingness. Suddenly, from the void, a voice:

JEAN GREY
Mutation. It is the key to our evolution. It has enabled us to evolve from a single celled organism into the dominant species on the planet. This process is slow, normally taking thousands and thousands of years.

The nothing starts to rush toward the screen in a spectacle of color and light.

JEAN GREY
But every few hundred millennia…evolution leaps forward.

Commence opening title sequence. The colors rush forward, taking the form of a constellation, which erupts into fire with an unnatural screech. The fire is sucked into a void, and finally the Cerebro doors slam shut.

INT. XAVIER INSTITUTE – EMMA FROST’S ROOM

EMMA FROST stands alone in the dark room, dressed in a white dress, revealing as always. She walks to the sliding door and out to the BALCONY.

EXT. BALCONY – NIGHT

She looks out over the mansion grounds. A MAN approaches her from behind.

MAN
Hello, Emma.

Emma turns slightly, not completely facing him.

EMMA
Sebastian. What are you doing here?

SEBASTIAN SHAW steps from the shadows.

SHAW
Ah, how quickly you forget your obligations.

EMMA
I’m a teacher now. The Inner Circle and the Hellfire Club and your chauvinistic nonsense are far behind me.

SHAW
If only that were the case.

Shaw is joined in the shadows by SINISTER, merely a pair of red eyes. Emma narrows her eyes.

EMMA
Who’s this?

SINISTER
My name is Nathaniel Essex. A recent addition to your Circle.

EMMA
Get off this property, both of you. I’ll have nothing to do with this.

SHAW
That is not your decision to make. You departed from the Inner Circle under my good graces, and that alone. Your obligation is lifelong!

SINISTER
I do not think she will need that much convincing, Shaw.

Emma moves past Shaw, confronting Sinister.

SINISTER
You see, Miss Frost, the end of this world is fast approaching. And I’m sure that someone of your character is most highly concerned with being on the right side of the fence when that end comes.

Emma slightly backs down.

EMMA
Ah. Suddenly it all seems so clear.

She steels herself.

EMMA
What do I need to do?

INT. TEMPLE

The Inner Circle and Sebastian stand in a cavernous room. The tomb of EN SABAH NUR is open, mystical energy surrounding it. Emma looks into the tomb, the pale blue light illuminating her face.

SINISTER
Distracted, Miss Frost?

EMMA
Hm?

She turns from the energy.

EMMA
No. Just…thinking.

Sinister smirks.

SINISTER
I always knew that remarkable sense of self-preservation of yours would play to my advantage.

The smile becomes deadly. The other club members stand away, out of earshot.

SINISTER
I would hope you have the foresight not to try to turn it against me.

Emma flares her nostrils.

EMMA
Of course not.

SINISTER
Very good. Then why don’t you join us, and we will examine your prisoners?

INT. CORRIDOR

In a small tunnel in the ceiling, above the main chamber, lies LOGAN, still as the night. He slowly shimmies through the tunnel, looking for a way around, avoiding contact with the Hellfire Club.

FADE OUT.

FADE IN.

INT. KITCHENETTE

A young woman, ANYA, cooks breakfast. In the foreground, an old man sits at the breakfast bar, back to the camera. OVER SHOULDER shot of Anya. PAN AROUND the old man, to REVEAL ERIK LENSHERR.

ANYA
Eggs are done.

She speaks German. Erik smiles weakly. Anya puts a platter down in front of him.

ANYA
You always look so sad.

ERIK
Do I?

Anya smiles and kisses him on the cheek.

ANYA
You’ve been here so many months, I feel like you could be my father. Be happy!

Erik begins to eat his breakfast. When next he speaks, he lapses into English.

ERIK
How wonderful it must be…to accept someone who has done what I have, on blind faith.

ANYA
What?

Erik resumes German.

ERIK
Nothing, my dear.

INT. NEWS STUDIO

ALISON BLAIRE runs through the studio, an ASSISTANT futilely trying to apply her makeup. Alison reads from cue cards, then throws them over her shoulder.

ALISON
Can you believe this? The school freaking blew up!

ASSISTANT
It’s a shock.

The assistant tries to keep up with Alison, continue applying the makeup, and pick up the cue cards all at the same time.

ASSISTANT
Don’t you think you’ll need these?

ALISON
No! This is live, baby! It’s gotta have energy!

ASSISTANT
And the director’s gonna be cool with that?

ALISON
Seriously, how long have you been on this job, two seconds? I know Mark. He’ll be fine.

Alison runs onset and takes her seat next to her COANCHOR. She fluffs her hair one last time.

DIRECTOR
Live in five, four…

He finishes the countdown silently.

ALISON
Good morning, this Alison Blaire.

COANCHOR
And this is Chris Claremont from CNN Morning News.

ALISON
Breaking news this hour from Salem Center, New York, home of the recently much-publicized Xavier Institute for Gifted Youngsters, which fell victim to what police are tentatively calling a terrorist attack. We have today exclusive satellite footage of what appears to be a massive explosion, which obliterated the campus.

CHRIS
Police report that there were no survivors from the attack, meaning that the school’s staff and students, a body totaling a little more than one hundred, are all presumed dead at this point in time. Officials suspect that the attack is the responsibility of anti-mutant extremists, though investigations will follow.

ALISON
Stay tuned to CNN as we provide ‘round the clock coverage of this breaking story.

DIRECTOR
And cut! Five minutes, people!

EXT. SKY – EVENING

The sky is a deep red, with hues of pink and orange. A perfectly white cloud parts majestically as the SHIELD HQ airship moves through it. CRANE DOWN to the deck, where ORORO MUNROE stands, hair blowing in the wind. KITTY PRYDE joins her.

ORORO
It’s such a beautiful sight.

KITTY
Yeah.

Kitty swallows.

KITTY
You’re worried about Logan.

Ororo looks at Kitty.

ORORO
Of course I am. About Logan, and Jean, and Kurt.

KITTY
Yeah.

Kitty brushes her hair out of her face.

KITTY
I am too.

Ororo moves over and puts an arm around Kitty, and they watch together as the sun sets.

INT. CONFERENCE ROOM – AIRSHIP

The windows are massive, and outside the stars shine against a clear indigo sky, clouds far below the ship. SCOTT SUMMERS, HENRY MCCOY, and PETER RASPUTIN sit with NICK FURY. Behind Fury are MYSTIQUE, LADY DEATHSTRIKE, MULTIPLE MAN, and PYRO.

SCOTT
You’re kidding me. You are kidding, right?

FURY
This is your team, Summers. No discussion.

HENRY
These are criminals, Commander!

Mystique scoffs.

MYSTIQUE
I got a government pardon. Do you need to see the paperwork?

Scott stands.

SCOTT
The same government that tries to kill our students gave you a pardon and I’m supposed to trust you? Real nice.

MYSTIQUE
Oh please. Like you’d even have known it was me if Fury didn’t let you in on the secret.

HENRY
Even if he didn’t, it’s not like the others are strangers. I can’t believe you’re using one of Stryker’s experiments, Fury.

Deathstrike crosses are arms.

DEATHSTRIKE
If I did anything to hurt any of you, it wasn’t of my own will.

SCOTT
Tell it to my sternum.

Deathstrike wrinkles her nose.

FURY
You don’t seem to get it, Slim. You gotta work with them, ‘cause they’re briefed, an’ you’re not. If you don’t like it, then by all means run in there an’ get yourself killed.

Scott looks to Henry. Peter, meanwhile, locks eyes with Pyro, who flicks his lighter incessantly, a smug grin on his face.

INT. MEDICAL BAY – AIRSHIP

DR. CECILIA REYES stands over ICEMAN and ANGEL, both in hospital beds. Angel lays on his stomach, mere stumps on his back where beautiful wings once were. Iceman is comparatively in much better shape, his side stitched up and his jaw bruised, scars on his cheek. Ororo enters.

ORORO
How are they?

CECILIA
Bobby’s up. Warren…we’ve healed the physical damage, but I’m afraid the psychological trauma will be a little more difficult to overcome.

ORORO
What do you mean?

CECILIA
Well, flying…you know the feeling, Miss Munroe.

Ororo looks out the bay window.

CECILIA
Take that away from someone, someone with wings…he was an angel.

Cecilia sets down her clipboard.

CECILIA
Let’s just say, no one’s expecting an overnight recovery.

Cecilia exits.
 
Well, I'm just gonna keep posting the backlog until someone cares. :oldrazz:
This one is gonna have the big action right up front, ESB style, I think, with a more pensive conclusion. Not sure on that structure yet, but it seems to be likely.

INT. TEMPLE

Emma and Sinister enter a small cavern within the temple, where JEAN GREY and KURT WAGNER are suspended in a mysterious blue light.

EMMA
This makes two, at any rate.

SINISTER
There’s a third. In the temple.

Jean’s eyes widen. Emma turns to look at her.

EMMA
Well let’s find out more about that, shall we?

Emma puts her hands to her temples and reads Jean’s mind.

EMMA
Ah. The Wolverine. He’ll be expecting me, then.

SINISTER
He will do nicely for a third.

Sinister examines Kurt.

SINISTER
I have my doubts about this one.

Jean struggles against her bonds. Emma extends a hand and Jean convulses, then goes limp.

EMMA
Stay put.

Sinister continues mulling over Kurt. Kurt’s eyes snap open, and he teleports.

EMMA
No!

Sinister rounds on Emma.

SINISTER
You can’t even keep a human and a mutant unconscious?

He backhands her. She recoils and sneers at him.

SINISTER
Be thankful I don’t kill you where you stand. He won’t survive the cold.

Sinister strides past her and out of the room. Emma glares after him.

EXT. TIBETAN MOUNTAINS – DAY

A blizzard is underway. Epic, sweeping shot of the terrain as Kurt teleports in. CRANE down to him, shivering. He begins to run, until he hears a sound. Looking up, he sees a plane flying overhead. He blesses himself.

KURT
Our father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us…

He teleports.

INT. PLANE

The STEWARDESS grabs on to a chair.

STEWARDESS
The captain requests that you all fasten your seatbelts for the duration of the storm. This is normal, and we hope to be out within the hour. Please, don’t panic.

Kurt teleports into the middle of the aisle.

KURT (cont’d)
…this day our daily bread, and forgive us our…

He slowly opens his eyes and looks around, then sighs and faints.

ANGLE ON the stewardess. She shrieks.

EXT. XAVIER INSTITUTE – DAY

Police cars surround the school. A news van pulls up. Before it is even in park, Alison Blaire jumps out the back. She fluffs her hair and straightens her hot pink skirt as she walks toward the remains of the school, followed by her assistant.

ALISON
Wow. So this is all that’s left. Unbelievable.

She straightens her posture as her camera man sets up. A POLICE OFFICER approaches her.

OFFICER
Miss…this is a closed crime scene.

She smiles pleasantly and shakes his hand.

ALISON
Hi, my name’s Alison Blaire, I’m with CNN. We have the exclusive on this story.

The officer blinks.

OFFICER
That’s nice, Miss Blaire. But the investigation is still underway and we can’t have your news crew on the property just yet. When we open it to the press, we’ll be sure to call you first.

Alison pouts.

ALISON
Oh. Okay.

Suddenly, a loud BOOM.

Alison squeals, and sparks fly from her hands. She squeals again. The police all direct their attention to the Sentinel that has just forcefully landed.

SENTINEL
Sentinel Squad O*N*E has been assigned to cleanup duty for the Xavier Institute attacks. We are to assist police forces in cleanup procedure.

Alison whispers to her cameraman.

ALISON
Are you getting all this?

The cameraman nods.

ALISON
Good, we’ll just greenscreen me in later.

The officer speaks to the force.

OFFICER
All right. Let the robot help.

The Sentinel begins clearing wreckage.

EXT. DECK – AIRSHIP – DAY

The airship approaches the mountains, and the snow begins. Pyro looks up into the snow and stands as the flurries begins to fall on his face.

INT. MEDICAL BAY

The bay is empty, except for its two patients. Pyro enters, brushing snow out of his hair, and stands beside Bobby’s bed. He looks down at Bobby.

PYRO
Look at you. You’re a mess.

He looks more closely at the scars, the broken nose.

PYRO
Fighting’s no good for you, eh Bobby?

Bobby coughs.

BOBBY
John…

Bobby rolls over, grunting in pain as he does.

BOBBY
You’re not dead.

Pyro snorts.

PYRO
‘Course not.

BOBBY
What are you doing here, John?

PYRO
Got picked up by SHIELD, they’ve been training me the past few months. Now I’m being sent on a mission with your “X-Men”.

Bobby turns around in bed again. He smiles faintly, not allowing Pyro to see.

BOBBY
I remember when you wanted to be an X-Man.

John sneers at him, then leaves the room.

INT. AIRSHIP – CONFERENCE ROOM

The X-Men: Ororo, Scott, Henry, Peter, and Kitty, sit around the conference table with Fury, HILL, Mystique, Deathstrike, and Multiple Man. John enters and joins them.

FURY
You’re late.

JOHN
Sorry. Got sidetracked.

FURY
Don’t care. Sit down an’ shut up. Now here’s how this is gonna work…

EXT. ANYA’S HOUSE – DAY

Anya and Erik play chess on the porch. It’s a sunny day out.

ANYA
How did your trip to America go?

Erik captures a knight with his pawn.

ERIK
Not as well as I’d hoped, to be honest.

ANYA
Your friends?

ERIK
As it turns out, not much inclined to befriend me.

ANYA
I don’t see why. You’re a very nice, sweet man.

Erik smiles as she captures the pawn with her bishop, and then he swiftly takes the bishop with a rook. A setup.

ERIK
Thank you, Anya. Truly.
 
I really like your X4 and your X5. The Erik/Anya relationship is intriguing. Must know more! :woot:

Okay, so remember way back when when I was writing this thing? Here's some more.

INT. JFK INTERNATIONAL – POLICE OFFICE

Kurt Wagner sits in front of two OFFICERS.

OFFICER 1
Xavier’s?

KURT
Yes. It is nearby.

OFFICER 2
Not anymore. You don’t know? Xavier’s was attacked. Blown up by a bunch of mutie haters.

KURT
Mutie?

OFFICER 2
Sorry. Mutant.

Kurt inclines his head.

KURT
I’ve been away much too long.

OFFICER 1
I suggest you find somewhere to stay, friend. After what Magneto did at Alcatraz, not many people are too keen on your kind.

KURT
I see.

Kurt gets up.

KURT
Thank you for your help.

He exits into the main LOBBY.

EXT. NEW YORK CITY – DAY

Kurt walks down an alley. Graffiti covers the walls. DIE MUTIE SCUM. GOD DID NOT MAKE MUTANTS. He teleports away.

INT. CONTROL ROOM

Alison and her assistant watch the tape from earlier.

ALISON
So that’s a Sentinel.

She leans in closer to the screen.

ALISON
What’s that on its leg? Can you make it bigger?

ASSISTANT
Yeah, hang on.

The image is blown up.

ALISON
Huh…”Shaw Industries”. Never heard of them.

She turns to her assistant.

ALISON
Big black robots. I think I wanna do a report on these Sentinels.

ASSISTANT
A report?

ALISON
Yeah, an investigation.

Jazz hands.

ALISON
An exposé. We’re gonna hit it big, Lila. Real big.

INT. TRASK’S OFFICE

BOLIVAR TRASK fills out paperwork at his desk. Sinister appears before him. Trask looks up.

TRASK
You’re not real.

SINISTER
I assure you, Secretary Trask, that I am quite real.

TRASK
What do you want?

SINISTER
The files that I had wired to you, regarding the X-Men…

TRASK
Were successfully uploaded to the Sentinel database.

SINISTER
Of course. And do you have bodies, Trask?

Trask sighs.

TRASK
No. Your plan didn’t account for SHIELD.

SINISTER
Because I thought that you would deal with that yourself, Trask. It seems I overestimated your usefulness.

TRASK
Someone else hit the school. Explosion, terrorist attack, whatever. They’re all dead, students and teachers alike.

Sinister leans in over the desk, baring his teeth at Trask, his red eyes boring through the other man. He says just one word, quietly, menacingly.

SINISTER
Wrong.

Trask meets the gaze, not frightened.

TRASK
What do you mean, “wrong”?

SINISTER
It is a ploy, you stupid man. The X-Men are very safe right now. Where, I have yet to discover. But this means that both you and the Sentinels have quite lost any usefulness to my plans henceforth.

Sinister disappears. Trask’s eyes widen, and then shadow erupts from his chest. He falls forward.

EXT. ALCATRAZ – NIGHT

Magneto’s army storms the island. Magneto turns to JUGGERNAUT.

MAGNETO
Go. Find the boy. And kill him.

JUGGERNAUT
With pleasure.

INT. JIMMY’S ROOM

Magneto stands over JIMMY’S DEAD BODY. Juggernaut smiles.

JUGGERNAUT
All done.

Psylocke and QUILL enter.

QUILL
We killed Dr. Rao and Worthington.

EXT. ALCATRAZ – NIGHT

Magneto and the Brotherhood join Phoenix.

MAGNETO
End this.

Phoenix smiles and ascends into the air. The X-Men are killed instantly, along with the soldiers.

INT. ERIK’S ROOM

Erik’s eyes snap open. He sits up in bed, panting.

Anya slowly opens the door and pokes her head in.

ANYA
What’s wrong?

ERIK
Nothing, my dear. A bad dream, that’s all. Please, don’t let it bother you.

Anya sits on the bed beside him.

ANYA
It doesn’t.

She looks at him. Through him.

ANYA
What did you do?

Erik looks away, sighs.

ERIK
Unspeakable things. I allowed hundreds of people to be killed.

He swallows.

ERIK
I’ve lost track of just how much blood is on my hands.

Anya looks away, unfazed.

ANYA
Magneto.

She looks back to him.

ANYA
You’re Magneto.

ERIK
I’m sorry. Part of me hoped you would never find out.

ANYA
And the other part?

ERIK
The other part wanted to tell you from the moment you took me in.

ANYA
What do you want me to do? They are looking for you?

ERIK
I don’t know!

He gets up. Anya is now breathing heavily.

ANYA
Leave. I can’t keep you here anymore.

Erik exhales sharply through his nose.

ANYA
I mean it.

He turns and leaves the room. Anya falls onto the bed and sobs.

INT. CORRIDOR

The corridor is pitch black. Suddenly, a torch lights. Pyro smirks, then sends the flame down both walls, illuminating the entire team: Cyclops, Storm, Beast, Shadowcat, Colossus, Lady Deathstrike, Multiple Man, and Mystique.

INT. EN SABAH NUR’S TOMB

Emma c.ocks her head.

EMMA
They’re here.

Sinister looks to her.

SINISTER
And I thought I’d have to go looking for them.

Sinister turns away and walks briskly to the door.

SINISTER
I have to leave for a short time. Deal with this.

EMMA
With pleasure.

INT. ANOTHER CORRIDOR

Logan sidles around a corner in the darkness. He sniffs, then smiles, shaking his head.

INT. JEAN’S CELL

Logan enters slowly. Jean looks to him. Logan pops his claws and slashes across the computer terminal in the corner. The force field holding Jean deactivates, and she falls into Logan’s waiting arms.

JEAN
Logan. You came back for me.

LOGAN
Every time, Jeannie.

Her focus changes.

JEAN
I feel strange, Logan. Like something’s wrong, but I don’t know what.

LOGAN
Come on, we gotta get outta here.

He helps her to her feet.

EXT. ALLEY – NEW YORK - NIGHT

Kurt lies on the ground. Above him is more graffiti: A GOOD MUTIE IS A DEAD MUTIE. He is bleeding from the temple. It’s raining.

INT. NEWS STUDIO

Alison reports as cameras focus on her.

ALISON
Anti-mutant violence is at an all time high following Magneto’s attack on Alcatraz. The extremists, fueled by the destruction of the Xavier school, have taken the guerilla war to the streets of Manhattan, where nearly every alley wall is covered with hateful messages. The mayor had this to say:

CUT to clip of the mayor at a press conference.

MAYOR
Violence of this kind will not be tolerated. Our public works office is moving to remove the vandalism as soon as possible, and the police force would like to warn those responsible that this gang violence is unacceptable and will be punished with jail time!

Cut back to Alison.

ALISON
We’ll have more on the mutant phenomenon after the break. Stay tuned. For CNN, I’m Ali Blaire.

The cameras cut, and Alison gets up. She goes to MARK, the director.

ALISON
How do you like the new name? I figured I’d try Ali on for size, do you think it screams “reputable reporter”?

Mark sighs.

ALISON
Why sigh? What’s wrong? Oh God, it doesn’t scream “high school ****”, does it? Because that’s totally not what I was going for.

MARK
We have to talk. Come back to the control room.

INT. CONTROL ROOM

Mark holds the door for Alison.

MARK
Sit down.

She does. Mark turns on one of the monitors. It’s the Sentinel footage.

ALISON
Oh. That. I broke a rule, yeah, sorry about that, but it was totally worth it and—

MARK
Alison!

She stops.

MARK
That’s not what this is about.

He pauses the frame. Sparks shoot from Alison’s fingertips.

MARK
This is. What is that, Alison?

Alison squirms.

ALISON
Uh…mic malfunction?

Mark’s not buying it.

MARK
Alison…the fact of the matter is, we can’t have someone…like you working at the station.

ALISON
Someone like me? You mean a mutant? So what, that story was total bullsh.it? Is that what you’re telling me?

MARK
Sorry. The producers want to cut a deal. You’ll be on unemployment, you’ll have plenty of money.

He extends his hand, for a shake. Alison slaps him square across the cheek.

ALISON
F.uck you! I don’t want your money! You’re gonna get one big-ass lawsuit, that’s what you’re gonna get!

She scowls and turns on her heel, leaving the control room.

INT. BAY – SHIELD HQ

The young mutants huddle around. At the fore are JUBILEE, DANI MOONSTAR, ROBERTO DE COSTA SAM and PAIGE GUTHRIE, and the STEPFORD CUCKOOS, ESME, SOPHIE, MINDEE, CELESTE, and PHOEBE.

JUBILEE
This sucks.

MINDEE
Things like this never happened at the Massachusetts Academy.

JUBILEE
No one asked you, Madonna.

She crosses her arms.

JUBILEE
Kitty and Pete get to go be X-Men, and I’m a glorified babysitter. What gives?

Fury enters the room.

FURY
Keep b.itchin’, that’ll make it better.

Jubilee glares at him.

FURY
You think they let me skip to the big headquarters in the sky and the secret 007 missions?

Jubilee frowns.

JUBILEE
Nah, I guess not.

FURY
Well, you’re wrong. They did. But you ain’t in SHIELD, yer in the real world. And here, you gotta work your ass off before anyone gives you any recognition. You sit there whinin’ all day, ya think Slim’s gonna tell you ya made X-Man? Not gonna happen, sister.

Fury lights a cigar as he leaves.

FURY
You want the black leather uniform with nifty pink piping, ya gotta prove to Cyke you got what it takes.

Fury leaves. Jubilee crosses her arms, pouting.

JUBILEE
Kitty has pink piping. I want mine to be yellow.

The Cuckoos scoff.

INT. PENTAGON

Trask’s office is sealed off. FBI agents are inside.

INT. TRASK’S OFFICE

One of the agents, FRED DUNCAN, examines Trask’s body with gloves on.

FRED
Creepy.

AGENT
What?

FRED
There’s no sign of a struggle, or of any damage. Guy’s just dead.

AGENT
Are we thinking—

FRED
I wanna wait to hear from the lab. But off the record, yeah. I’d say we’re looking at mutant-related case.

AGENT
Goddamn muties…nothing but trouble.

FRED
Not all of them.

AGENT
Yeah, well, sometimes I wish that cure went over a little better. S.hit like this happens…makes our jobs too complicated.

FRED
For the good old days when there were only a handful of ways to kill someone.

AGENT
Got that right.

EXT. ALLEY – NIGHT

Kurt still lays unmoving on the ground. Suddenly, smoke emanates from his body, the usual purple-ish haze that accompanies his teleportation. Unstopping.

And then he’s gone.

INT. CORRIDOR

Logan and Jean rush to the exit. Jean bites her lip. She’s bleeding from the nose now.

JEAN
Oh god…Logan!

She stumbles and falls. Logan grabs her.

Jean mumbles.

JEAN
Something’s happening, I can’t make it stop, please, stop it…

Logan cradles Jean in his arms.

LOGAN
C’mon, Jeannie, we gotta keep moving…

Jean touches his face.

JEAN
I can feel you again.

Logan furrows his brow.

LOGAN
What?

Jean smiles, faintly.

JEAN
It’s all back. My powers…

She glows radiantly.

JEAN
They’re back.
 
Ohhhhhh my.........Jean is getting back completly....this is getting good......keep going....

INT. CAVERN

Emma enters. Jean is gone.

EMMA
Bloody hell…

She turns on her heel and uses her telepathy to scan the temple.

EMMA
Blocking me…but how?

INT. TEMPLE

Emma marches up to Shaw.

EMMA
What is he planning?

SHAW
What?

EMMA
This Essex ponce, what is he planning? Jean Grey is gone, and her telepathy is functioning again!

SHAW
You let her escape?

EMMA
I did not let her escape! She had help; Wolverine is here, and I could’ve tracked him down if I wasn’t busy babysitting some gothic punk for you!

Shaw snaps a finger, and SCALPHUNTER approaches.

SHAW
Two X-Men are in the compound. Find them.

EMMA
Not just two. The whole team’s showed up now.

SHAW
Then take everyone!

He turns back to Emma.

SHAW
You. Come with me.

INT. EMPTY ROOM

ELLIE PHIMINSTER sits on the floor, Indian-style.

ELLIE
See, it’s begun now, like I said it would, thank you. Now it all comes tumbling falling down down down, until you can’t make it better.

EMMA
You don’t make any sense!

SHAW
Listen closely.

ELLIE
The heroes are here, but they aren’t alone, they have help. They don’t what’s coming, they don’t know that evil is awake and it will come to them, like a bird, always back and back from the ashes, never dying always breathing alive forever. Everything is going to fall down and all the pieces will shatter and no one can fix it.

Emma looks to Shaw.

EMMA
What does she mean? Phoenix?

SHAW
Partly, I believe. I’m more interested as to why Essex needed this girl so much.

EMMA
Perhaps he can sift through the nonsense.

SHAW
You’re a telepath. See if you can dig in there.

Emma rolls her eyes.

EMMA
I’ll try.

INT. CORRIDOR

The X-Men come to a sealed corridor.

CYCLOPS
Pete. Knock it down.

Colossus metals up.

MYSTIQUE
What are you, ******ed?

Colossus stops moving. Cyclops turns to her.

MYSTIQUE
They’ll hear that door crashing down from a mile away. Stand to the side, Muscles.

Colossus moves as Lady Deathstrike approaches the door. She extends her claws and silently cuts a hole in the door. Colossus removes it and props it up against the wall.

MYSTIQUE
See?

Cyclops scowls as the team moves through the door.

EXT. GERMAN COUNTRYSIDE – DAY

A train speeds down the tracks.

INT. TRAIN

Erik sits, alone, looking out the window. Suddenly, everything goes dark, except for Erik’s tiny bubble of space.

SINISTER
Erik.

ERIK
Who’s there?

The red eyes reveal themselves.

SINISTER
I know what you think, Erik. What you want. What you wish.

Two hands emerge from the darkness, placing Erik’s old helmet on the empty seat beside Erik. Erik looks at it in disgust.

SINISTER
Take it. Become the man you were meant to be.

Erik places a shaky hand on the helmet. The hands suddenly, violently grab his arm. Erik gasps. Then it’s done. His eyes widen, and he looks at Sinister, in awe.

SINISTER
Welcome, Erik.

The eyes, the shadow, the helmet all disappear, and Erik is alone. And changed.

EXT. GERMAN COUNTRYSIDE – DAY

The train is torn off the tracks.

INT. TOMB

Shaw looks over En Sabah Nur. En Sabah Nur’s eyes snap open, the corpse like body emanating an eerie green glow.

EN SABAH NUR
It begins.

The light springs forth, knocking Shaw back with a wall of pure energy.

INT. CORRIDOR

Jean’s eyes burn with the fire of the Phoenix, and Logan is slammed against the wall.

LOGAN
Jean!

She peels away at his bones, metal seeping from his pores like fine powder, accompanied by thin mists of blood.

INT. HELL DIMENSION

Kurt awakes in a hazy hell dimension, all red and black, smoke and flame.

INT. CORRIDOR

An explosion rocks the corridor. Mystique is thrown against the wall, as are the others.

MYSTIQUE
What the hell was that?

EXT. TIBET – DAY

Green energy bursts from the mountain as En Sabah Nur awakes. The entire area rumbles with power.

INT. CORRIDOR

Jean suddenly turns away from Logan mid-procedure. He falls to the ground as Jean walks away, the wounds healing.

INT. HELL DIMENSION

Kurt teleports away.

EXT. GERMAN COUNTRY SIDE – DAY

MAGNETO emerges from the wreckage of the train. He looks up and levitates into the sky, taking with him streams of metal from the train, which form a fluid, metallic “cape”, swirling and billowing around him, the magnetic fields holding him aloft. Survivors below look up and point, knowing.

Magneto has returned.

INT. CORRIDOR

Logan groans and gets to his knees, his skin healing. He instinctively pops his claws.

Nothing happens. He looks down in horror. The adamantium has been stripped from his body. He turns his head suddenly to the other side of the corridor.

CYCLOPS
Logan!

Cyclops and Storm head the pack. Logan spots the new members.

LOGAN
What’re they doin’ here?

STORM
They’re with us. Not our choice.

LOGAN
I sure as hell hope not.

Storm helps him up.

STORM
What happened?

LOGAN
I got kidnapped, they brought me here. I got out, found Jean and the elf.

CYCLOPS
Jean? Where is she?

LOGAN
I dunno…she’s…she’s back, Scott. Phoenix.

CYCLOPS
Oh, no. No…

MYSTIQUE
It’s not Phoenix.

The three X-Men turn to Mystique.

MYSTIQUE
It’s En Sabah Nur. He’s gathering followers.

KITTY
You think he’s got Kurt, too?

MYSTIQUE
Most likely, yes. So if you can still walk, Logan, we need to get on our way.

LOGAN
I can walk fine.

He joins the group. Kitty notices his skin still healing.

KITTY
Logan, what happened?

LOGAN
Nothin’.

She makes a face.


LOGAN
Don’t worry about it now, kid. I’ll be fine.

INT. HOTEL ROOM

ROGUE enters the room. GAMBIT lounges shirtless on the bed.

GAMBIT
Well hello, chére.

ROGUE
Turn on the news!

Gambit sighs. Not what he wanted to hear. He flicks on the television.

It’s the weather report.

ROGUE
Damn it!

GAMBIT
What’s buggin’ you?

ROGUE
It’s the school. It blew up!

GAMBIT
Blew up?

ROGUE
I think…I think they’re all dead, Remy.

Rogue leans against the wall, sobbing.

ROGUE
I can’t believe they’re gone.

Gambit gets up and embraces Rogue from behind.

GAMBIT
If I know the X-Men, then they ain’t dead, not by a long shot.

She turns and looks up. Gambit leans in and they kiss, softly at first, but then more passionate. Gambit pins her against the wall as they continue to kiss.

ANGLE ON: Gambit’s eyes, as they slowly turn normal colors.

ANGLE ON: Rogue’s eyes, which glow red briefly.

Gambit gasps, and pulls away. Rogue leans back against the wall. Gambit’s eyes return to their black and red, and Rogue’s eyes return to normal. She looks over to him.

ROGUE
I warned you.

Gambit smiles.

GAMBIT
That didn’t hurt a bit.

A cell phone vibrates on the nightstand. Gambit goes and picks it up.

GAMBIT
LeBeau.

Rogue looks over, curious.

GAMBIT
Oh. It’s you.
 
Ooh! This is getting better and better. Really good job! :) :up:
 
Nice job Boba, the way Apocalypse is introduced reminds me of X-Men Evolution.

I'm really looking forward to seeing what happens next!
