So, how long before the franchise gets a restart? A guy I know who has a friend at Marvel says they plan on waiting til they get the license back from Fox and then making the new movies themselves like they are doing with Iron Man. He said that Marvel isn't all that happy with the trilogy, which makes me question him, but he did mention the Academy X movie long before Penn said he might be scripting a spin off not involving Wolverine and Magneto, so take that with a grain of salt.

SIX YEARS until,

"Uncanny X-men":

based strictly on the comics!

studio- Marvel/Paramount
director- James Cameron

Cyclops - Barry Pepper
Jean Grey - Rachel Weisz
Iceman - Ryan Reynolds
Beast - Jon Favreau
Angel - Ryan Phillippe
Prof X - Christopher Walken

villains:

Magneto - Rutger Haur
40 foot sentinels (purple too!)

cloth costumes, no leather

You know what's funny?

Finally we can restart the x-franchise! Maybe next time Hollywood will get the right cast!

No more Wolverine who's too young, handsome, and tall!

No more 90 year old Magneto!

No more old, brunette Jean Grey!

No more mousy and timid Storm!

No more blonde and unfunny Iceman!

No more mousy, timid Rogue with little to no sex appeal!

No more frat boy Cyclops who doesn't look like a real soldier or leader!

HOORAY!!! There's a chance Hollywood will get it right next time! HOORAY!!!

Hollywood is filled with evil bloodsuckers who only care about money.

Blind Fury, you lost any seriousness your ideas could ever garner by suggesting Christopher Walken for Xavier.

X-Men, I need more cowbell.

Trust me people, we aren't getting a restart. Not for several decades at least. You dont just restart a franchise because a few fanboys are upset at minor continuity changes. They'll restart this franchise once these become so outdated that they aren't even relevant to the current times anymore. Once the effects are laughably bad to current standards. Once everyone in the target audience range is too young to have seen the first franchise. And even then, who's to say X-Men will be popular at that point? Comic movies could be out of style also.

Batman was damn lucky to get a restart, and it was only becuase Batman and Robin was so unbelievable bad, that no comic fan in the world could say that they liked it. You may not like X3, but dont even think about comparing it to Batman and Robin (or even Batman Forever).
