Sequels Penn Talks Young X-Men Movie!

I hope the project gets off the ground soon. Have the younger xmen on their own for whatever crappy reason. Throw in a storm/wolverine cameo and have the kids rollin with uncle gambit. Cant wait. I want the trailer to start off with a kineticly charged ace

He WAS going to do a movie with the younger characters (Rogue, Iceman, Kitty etc) but is NOW going to do something else with the idea of a younger X-Men movie. We're specualting that he means a prequel set before X1 with younger versions of Storm, Cyclops, Jean, Beast, Xavier etc. This would mean no Rogue or Iceman, no Wolverine.

Penn admitted that he was originally signed on to write and direct a "young X-Men film," but that's recently changed. Says Penn, "The original idea was to have me do a young X-Men spin-off, a spin-off of the young X-Men characters. But someone came up with a pretty interesting idea which I can't discuss.

He says he was originally going to do a young X-men film BUT someone came up with another idea, meaning something else entirely be it a prequel, sequel, spin-off, whatever, but he can't say what it is at this point. For all we know it could be a Gambit spin-off or something. Now, it's possible that it COULD be a prequel with the original film X-men, but that's only because he hasn't said anything about what he actually IS doing, so that's only one idea out of an infinite number of ideas.

A prequel is not a young x-men movie, he'd say I will be doing a prequel, so it is still a young x-men movie, with young mutants, which? we don't know, but don't think they are jean, scott, storm and beast.

And that "how to do" means something, it's not like his friend suggested a different spin-off; is still a young x-men spin-off, but with a new vision, or so.

Um... guys... how exactly is it a Young Xmen movie anyway if it was about the later students... Rogue Iceman Kitty are all young adults now... by the time this gets into production those characters should be in their mid twenties and I am not talking about the actors ages... the point is I don't consider Rogue and Iceman/Collosus/kitty to be "young" anymore like they were X1-X2... therefore... if they do something that takes place AFTER X3.... just call it X4 for God's sake... doesn't make any sense otherwise...

If not I don't mind seeing younger versions of Jean/Cyke/Beast/Ororo/Xavier sort of like that Xmen Evolutions cartoon... could work though who'd the villain be?... but everyone wants to see X4 with Gambit so what the **** are they waiting for.

Actually, it might be a good opportunity to pull something of a Jean/Scott/Emma Frost angle, which it seems a lot of people want.

Of course, I'm only talking IF that's what Penn is doing. I'd much rather see an X-4 than an X-0.5.

At the end of the day, I'm interested in this movie. Seeing young x-men (if they are from the movies) is something I'll enjoy seeing it. But if the idea is other mutants, unknown, then no, definetly.

I hope this movie don't mean no X4.

I think Scott would be better playing the "Rogue" side of things:

After a whole movie of trying to get him to take off his glasses, eventually taking them off and almost getting herself killed:

I suspect a young X-Men flick with a big Jean/Scott/Emma love triangle. Eh, sucks but it's better than any of the first 3 flicks (because it'd mean, y'know, Cyclops would actually have scenes for the first time).
