Mojo is way behind and I posted the info TWICE above. X3's international gross as of Sunday was 205.5 Million. And that's the second update with another one at 204.5 from before the weekend.

I was being lazy like Mojo. :(

By the time Mojo updates it it'll be over 206. Nothing much is gonna happen till a small boost from China, but Japan is the biggie obviously.

Do you know what the reason is for such a long delay in release?

$436 is very impressive, especially for the last film of a trilogy!

Update:

Monday 10 July $113,372
Tuesday 11 July $120,058 (74.9% drop on last week:( )

Total Domestic $231,567,377 in 47 days
International $205,350,015
Worldwide $436,917,392

1st page updated.

I honestly believe FOX needs to stop wasting energy on an R-rated Wolverine film, and put X4 in high gear.

If they plan it NOW, then they have at least 2 years to prep and write a good story and get all of the actors back in contract.

They're separate producers and writers and directors. Fox isn't a one man show. They can handle more than one film in development. I think the Wolverine film should come first to give it a break because they shouldn't just be making an X4 but a start to a new trilogy so the storyline for the next series should be thought out in advance unlike the first 3 films.

I think you're both right. X4 will be the film that either ends the franchise for good or succesfully sets up the new era. They should start getting their ideas together for the next trilogy and the first film will be vitally important. Giving enough prep time is vital. Both X1 and X3 showed some signs of being rushed with effects work etc being left to the very last minute.

The Wolverine film, especially if R rated could be a good way of showing a different side to the expanded universe and both X4 and Wolverine should serve as good marketing for each other.

I may be imagining this, but I think I read that summer isn't a popular season for cinema releases in Japan because in the past not many of the theatres had air-conditioning.

Thanks.

I don't know much about the Asian markets so I suppose it's a possibility. It depends whether the other big films have also been delayed there. Hopefully we'll still see a strong performance.

My "theory" doesn't seem to hold true as lots of big films have had summer releases in Japan. The two exceptions I could find were "Van Helsing" and "I, Robot" which both did around $30m total after a September opening.

^ Van Hesling was utter crap, and I, Robot wasn't exactly the type of film they go for. Yet...they still did pretty damn good.

$30m? That's a lot. More than I was expecting for X3. If it makes those sort of numbers it'll be a great boost for the worldwide take.

Everyone really has faith in an X4. Am i the only one who feels there is no recovery!!! :p. It seems that if they tried to fix things they would end up in a tangled web of cliches and pointless pretold stories.

You know, one can argue that it was the ineptitude of Superman Returns that led to POTC: DMC having the greatest opening of all-time. Superman's weakness and poor word of mouth led more people to choose POTC because there simply wasn't anything better to watch that weekend. POTC should be thanking Bryan Singer and Superman Returns. Singer may get credt afterall and fans of Spider-Man 1 should be pissed.

The sad thing is that I've seen both movies and SR is a far better film. Go figure.

Um, no.

This movie was going to be insanely popular no matter what.
