X3 owns the Da Vinci Code!!!!!

Da Vinci Code has already made $460 million worldwide, how does X3 own it?

because it beat it this week at the box office?

I guess he's talking just about first weekend takes.

First Weekend Takings :) and first week takings.

First Weekend Takings

Preliminary estimates also gave the latest installment of the comic book franchise the fourth best three-day opening ever and the best single Friday in movie history with a gross of $45.5 million.

First week takings (estimated).

Estimated ticket sales for Friday through Monday at U.S. and Canadian theaters, according to Exhibitor Relations. Final figures will be released Tuesday.

1. "X-Men: The Last Stand," $120.1 million.

I'm not definding Da Vinci or anything but X3 was released in about 90% of the interantional markets and still couldn't beat Da Vinci's second weekend.

Despite a huge opening in the U.S, X3's overseas opening is rather embarrassing considering it couldn't beat the second weekend of another film.

Ahh, but that's what happens when you have the biggest paperback of recent years vs. the most consistantly ssuccessful comic book of the last 30 years as adaptations. Dan Brown will always win in the longterm, it's not embarressing for the Xmen my title is........ Misleading, that's sort of the point.

Da Vinci Code cost half of what X-men 3 does, and its probably going to gross close to or well over $200 million in the US.

I believe it's already reached that.

That's incorrect, it actually took in $104 million over the three day weekend. The $120 million was over the four day weekend provided by Memorial day.

And every movie loses the following weekend to a huge block buster.

I like both films, and have seen X3 twice at the theatre, and DVC 3x at the theatre. However, DVC has already blown X3 out of the water with regard to total intake already, and DVC cost a lot less to make.

In profit terms yes. Suprisingly the cultural impact of the Da Vinci Code is less than that of the X men or perhaps it's not that suprising when you consider Brown's book is derivative based on an earlier work and although will be remade as a film probably in 30 years, the book sales will wane as the book version dates like all best sellers. The X men will still be a monthly title in 40 years and I suspect we will have a few more movies by then.

Bums on seats due to Asias far cheaper prices is also interesting ;)

DVD sales to come and per unit X3 will sell more here I suspect as well.

Followed by THE BIGGEST BOX OFFICE DROPS in History with The Hulk like drops & dropping & dropping some more. Obviously no article / paper will mention "the bad" probably because FOX paid them off for that

Interestingly bums on seats due to Asias prices compared to the west may tell a different story in regards to success rates. I actually didn't enjoy X3 much and I thought the Da Vinci code was also poor. It's also interesting to note that in English speaking countries X3 did better. Weird stuff. In the UK it stayed above the Da Vinci code in its second week.

The fact of the matter is, is X3 will not touch TDVC international gross.

However in the US, UK and Australia it has beaten it. Fascinating.

Indeed.

I always set the mark of success by looking at US takings.

It started massive ... fell sharply but has made steady progress since.

All in all Fox will be very happy, as am I.

Now look at MI3 numbers .... OUCH, not good.

X3 didn't open in Japan as of yet not sure about still opening in others countries.

I thought it was awful, but so was the Da Vinci code.

Really. This is comparing a sub-par adaptation of a book to an adaptation of a sub-par book.

How much did it truly own Da Vinci Code when X-men 3 cost about twice as much as that movie?

Da Vinci Code = MORE profitable than X-men 3.

da vinci code is gay.

the book.

the movie.

the people that read the book and watched the movie.

all gay.

and the advertising blitz for the da vinci code probably costed more than it costed to make the da vinci code in the first place
