Posts cannot be intelligent. Posts are inanimate bits of data hosted on a server and accessed via the internet to display on your screen.

LOL! Get a life.

The Da Vinci Code imo was better than Xmen 3. I guess its just up to people's own opionions.

X-men 3 didn't own jack.

It got owned in its second weekend by The Break-Up. Squandering one of the biggest all time BO opening weekends ever.

Yea, I can't quite understand why this article acts like Xmen 3 beat the pulp out of The Da Vinci Code. Im pretty sure Sony wasn't expecting The Da vinci code to open #1 agianst Xmen 3.

X-3

Domestic - $220 million
Foreign - $181 million
Budget - $210 million

DaVinci Code

Domestic - $201 million
Foreign - $479 million
Budget - $125 million

The only one getting owned here is X3. X3 may finish with $20 to $30 million more domestic then Da Vinci. Da Vinci destroys X3 overseas with $300 million more. At best X3 may cut $50 million off that total once it opens in all foreign markets but its still no contest.

Once you throw in X3's budget $85 million more I think Fox would trade places with Sony in an instant.

We've been through all this in more detail. In regards to English speaking countries etc.
Keep up ;)

Well as it appears to me in the instates X-men 3 will most likely bow out at 223 t0 230 million. Only besting The Code by 30 million dollars. However globally Da Vinci Code has spanked X-men 3 and all other movies. Except for Cars i don't really know there foreign take on it. However honestly Pirates Of The Caribbean 2 should own them all for it looks better then the first which i neevr thaught was possible.

What difference does the breakdown in individual countries make? All that counts is total revenue.

Not exactly, demography is obviously interesting. For instance in non English speaking nations apart from the Orient. Mr. Brown did better.

Yes demography can be interesting but it has nothing to do with the title of the thread. Oh well.

Regardless X3 has not been released in most of the Orient yet but I think DeVinci will beat it there anyway. DeVinci has made over $60 million in Japan and over $20 million in South Korea I doubt X3 will approach that.

DeVinci has also made more then X3 in England ($51 million to $32 million) and Austrialia ($18 million to $11 million). It's really only the US where X3 has out performed DeVinci because american superheroes are just not as popular overseas as they are here.

Virtually all comic book movies follow the same pattern they will do the same business overseas as the US or slightly less. The Batman movies have always brought in less overseas than the US. The Spiderman and X-Man movies are about a 50-50 split. Meanwhile something like the Harry Potter movies will perform like DeVinci and will more then double its domestic gross overseas.

I see you live in England. Does the X-Men, Spiderman, Superman, Batman etc have any where near the appeal of something like Harry Potter, Narnia, Lord of the Rings or DeVinci in England.

Your right it has nothing to do with the thread title, read the links I poosted way back on the 19/06/06 it conflicts with your data a little. Sources are always nice. Anyway the thread title is about opening weekends and posted purely for controversy. I know it's my title. ;) I'd say judged in those terms it's been a success.
