Xenoblade Chronicles X Details How To Fight And Give Commands. March 12, 2015 . 3:15am

Get an early heads up on the intricacies of Xenoblade Chronicles X’s battle system.

Monolith Soft had plenty to share about Xenoblade Chronicles X’s battle system in their recent presentation, and the official website gives us more info with another look at how battles play out, along with some of the key details involved with the combat system.

[YT]TeBLW7jMLb0[/YT]
Planet Mira is filled with gentle creatures and other races, but there are also dangerous animals and hostile races from other planets, so sometimes, you’ll be forced to fight for your survival. As previously reported, attacks are split into both melee and ranged attacks, with an option to perform auto-attacks. You can destroy parts off of enemies to make fights easier, and also for a chance to acquire some items after battles from breaking parts.

Melee weapon-types include: Knife, Long Sword, Shield, Dual Sword, Javelin, Photon Saber, and more. The shooting weapon-types are: Assault Rifle, Dual Gun, Sniper Rifle, Ray Gun, Psycho Launcher, and more.

The image above shows us a little bit more on how to understand the battle UI. The top-left shows your character information, while the upper part shows more on the enemy, such as how they aggro, their level, name, and HP.

On the bottom, you have the Arts Palette, followed by what type of weapon you’re currently using, and an indicator that tells you your position against the enemy you’re facing or have targeted.

TP (Tension Point): fills up when you auto-attack.

Inner Level: indicates the character’s raw power.

Class Rank: indicates the character’s current class rank.

Here are some basic commands that you’ll use during battle:

  • Target Enemy: Selects the closest enemy to target.

  • Draw Weapon: Unsheathes weapon to commence combat.

  • Target Lock: Will have character and view focus on the target.

  • Switch Target: Used to switch targets when there are multiple enemies.

  • Parts Lock: Used to continue aiming for a certain part of an enemy.

  • Switch Weapon: Switches between melee and shooting weapons.

  • Arts: Launches a special ability from the character. Again, by using 1,000 TP, they’ll use an even more powerful Arts (the Tension Arts).

  • Help Up: By using 3,000 TP, you can revive a fallen comrade.

  • Ally Commands: Give orders to your party, such as “concentrate attacks” or “gather,” and more.

  • Indicate Battle Menu: Give specific commands to individual party members or the entire party. Some of them include “go with melee,” “go with shooting,” “get in your Doll,” and other specific commands. There’s also an emergency escape option that will take 15 seconds to make a run, leading you to the nearest landmark.

  • Retreat: Makes you stop attacking, allowing for a retreat to safety.

Xenoblade Chronicles X will release in Japan on April 29, 2015 for Wii U. The game will also release in North America and Europe later this year. You can read more about the game’s advanced battle techniques in our earlier report.

Xenoblade Chronicles X: Details On Creating Weapons And The Other Alien Races You’ll Encounter. March 12, 2015 . 12:31pm

At the shopping district, you’ll come across the Arms Company, where they sell and develop equipment for characters and Dolls.

Planet Mira and its vast continents have plenty to offer, from races of different backgrounds to all kinds of weapons you can make with rare resources found across the planet. The game’s official website shares more on making weapons and on other races in the game.

At the shopping district, you’ll come across the Arms Company, where they sell and develop equipment for characters and Dolls. There are companies such as the Sakuraba Heavy Industry, Granada GG, and Meledes & Co.

Players can support certain companies, and have them create newer and better gear by leveling them up.

To give you a better idea on how it works, these companies can be upgraded by offering them all-purpose minerals known as Miranium, or by simply using a company’s weapon and acquiring Commercial Points by defeating enemies. You can also request upgrades with the Affix Enhancement feature. This is done by offering various material found throughout Mira, and providing them to upgrade accessories.

As previously reported, equipment also has slots, which you can use to input “Devices” into them, as power-ups and effects to the gear. This is also done by finding material in Mira, then making the Device with them. Additionally, the Arms Company can make brand new equipment by simply giving them rare material.

Humans aren’t the only ones living on Mira, as there are some races that have been living on the planet since way before, along with others from distant planets. Here’s a look at some of the more common races you’ll find during your time on Planet Mira:

The Nopon:

The Nopon are indigenous to Planet Mira, and they’re known for traveling around the planet in their caravan to sell merchandise.

The MaNon:

img_world06_03_thumb.jpg

The MaNon are Peaceful extraterrestrials with highly advanced technology.

The Vaias:

Contrary to the MaNon, the Vaias are hostile toward humans, and they’re one of the more aggressive groups of extraterrestrials on Planet Mira.

Last week Xenoblade Chronicles X fans iYakku and Gessenkou translated the battle video that Monolith Soft released on March 6th adding English subs.

Well they weren’t finished there. They have really outdone themselves this time as they have fully translated the text presented on screen. We’re talking pretty much all the text on screen presented from the menus and even the UI.

Check it out below and make sure to subscribe to their channel for future Xenoblade Chronicles X updates. Also a big thanks to iYakku and Gessenkou for being so awesome.

Keep An Eye On This Xenoblade Chronicles X Enemy, Says Monolith Soft. March 16, 2015 . 12:29pm

“I think we’ve managed to create a very intriguing character,” says Xenoblade Chronicles X director Koh Kojima.

Xenoblade Chronicles X designer Koh Kojima has taken to Twitter once again to discuss a couple of the game’s characters. In particular, Kojima says, players will want to look out for an alien lady that was shown in the recent battle system presentation.

“Don’t you wonder who the woman with the head like a squid appearing near the end of the battle compilation is?” Kojima wrote on Twitter.

“She does appear to be rather cruel and evil,” he added. “She’s actually pretty popular among the development staff. I think we’ve managed to create a very intriguing character. By the way, she was designed by Ms. Yoko Tsukamoto.”

Following that, Kojima talked about Tatsu, the Nopon character that will be one of your allies in Xenoblade Chronicles X. Unlike Riki from Xenoblade, Tatsu will not partake in battles. Nonetheless, he is one of the game’s main supporting cast.

“Regarding Tatsu, of whom we’ve had a plush made… to tell the truth, there was actually quite the debate on whether to include a Nopon or not when we began development,” Kojima said. “The designers in charge of events just kept pitching ideas using Nopons. Ultimately, [Tetsuya] Takahashi joined in the excitement and pushed for the character of Tatsu, and I’m now glad we included Nopons after all.”

Xenoblade Chronicles X will be released in Japan on April 29th.

Food for thought:
A tip from Kojima regarding the game’s website: the header image at the top of the site can be changed by clicking the arrows to the left and right. The alternate image is the one you see below—it’s the large enemy mech the squid girl is piloting at the very end of the battle presentation.

From gentle herbivores to giant whale-like flying monsters, the official website shares a look at some of the many creatures you’ll encounter in the upcoming title.

Xenoblade Chronicles X’
s Planet Mira is home to all kinds of alien races, but it’s also home to numerous creatures. From gentle herbivores to giant whale-like flying monsters, the official website shares a look at some of the many creatures you’ll encounter in the upcoming title.

Brass Femina Zeus:
A boar-like creature with a firm lump on its head. The male (Brass Zeus) and female versions have different hair and body colors.

Stone Hippo: Has a sharp tusk beneath its jaw. They’re gentle creaters, and can often be seen around bodies of water.

Wood Fontera:
Herbivores with a height of over 6 meters. They’re similar to giraffes, as they use their long necks to eat leaves on trees.

Everlast Milesauro: Giant creatures that resemble dinosaurs. They don’t attack humans, and tend to spend their time leisurely.

Lake Rutorl:
Live by bodies of water, and have a mammal-like appearance. They also share characteristics of dogs and cats, as they face upwards and roll around.

Quick Strutt: Bird-like bipedal creatures. Similar to ostriches, they have wings but cannot fly. The Quick Strutts live in groups and feed off insects they peck off the ground.

Junior Simius:
share the appearance of an ape, but they have four arms to go with their two legs. They often travel in groups, and can occasionally be seen with their giant parents.

Last edited:
Young Lups: fierce carnivores that will even go after other prey while hunting. They’ll also attack humans immediately upon seeing any nearby.

Docile Ois:
Small herbivore creatures with a puffy ball on the end of their tails. They like to eat sprouts, and can often be seen living in areas with plenty of greens.

Youth Vasalt: These insect-like creatures have six legs, and use their front legs as sickles. You might occasionally see them using their sickles to dig holes in the ground.

Welkin Lukiora:
these giant flying creatures usually travel calmly in the skies. They tend to constantly float around their own territories.

Among the creatures on Mira, there are some that are considered a threat to humans, called the “Overed”. Overeds are similar to regular monsters, but they’re much stronger and have unique names.

The Overeds will be targets of subjugation quests at times, and due to their powerful nature, you’ll need to be well-prepared before taking them on.

Xenoblade Chronicles X Will Let You Slightly Customize Your Home Base. March 23, 2015 . 1:00pm

In his latest round of tweets, Xenoblade Chronicles X director Koh Kojima touches upon the BLADE home area in the game.

In his latest round of tweets, Xenoblade Chronicles X director Koh Kojima touches upon the BLADE home area in the game. As previously reported, New Los Angeles is home to a number of arms companies that manufacture weapons for you to use. Supporting certain companies will level them up and they’ll create better gear. These companies tie into the BLADE home area.

Kojima writes: “A word about a new feature related to battles that didn’t exist in Xenoblade Chronicles—the Arms Companies. You can enjoy each company’s characteristic equipment designs. The company logos were created by the Monolith design team, with great attention to detail. These logos can be used to customize the BLADE home area a little, so please give it a shot.”

“Could it be there hasn’t been much said about the BLADE home so far?” Kojima adds in his follow-up tweets. “It’s the area that serves as the player’s base of activities, both online and offline, so you’ll likely visit it frequently during the game. This is why we’ve created customization options like the ones mentioned in my tweets.”

Aside from the BLADE home and Arms Companies, New Los Angeles also houses industrial, commercial, and residential districts. You can read all about those here.

Xenoblade Chronicles X will be released in Japan on April 29th. North America and Europe will see the game sometime later this year.

Xenoblade Chronicles X: How To Use The Powerful Overclock Gear Mode. March 26, 2015 . 12:32pm

A rundown on how to fight while in Overclock Gear mode.

Monolith Soft recently shared a look at Xenoblade Chronicles X’s basic and advanced battle system features. The official website has now updated with additional info on how you’ll fight monsters with Arts and other tricks.

Arts have different uses that have effects that can be used as part of combos like “increases damage when used after a Fighting Arts” or “increases damage when used after a Shooting Arts. There are different combinations and effects while using them, so you’ll want to figure out which ways will help do the most damage.

Similar to Xenoblade Chronicles, Arts can also be used to knock enemies off balance, then combined with another Art to completely knock them over, making for a nice way to keep them down while giving a good beating. Once you knock them down, all your attacks will hit, and the damage increases by x1.5.

There are also some Arts that increase damage when used against enemies that are knocked down; however, keep in mind that there are some times when there enemies won’t be knocked down even after knocking them off balance.

Attacking enemies from the back or from higher elevations will increase accuracy and critical rate. There are some Arts that get enhanced effects when used from the back of flank, so positioning will matter.

Depending on the type of monster you’re fighting, some may have parts that can be targeted and broken off. Once you break it off, they won’t be able to use those parts to do certain attacks anymore, so it’ll play a strategic element on certain monsters.

[YT]JFeMcHr5Lp8[/YT]
After getting to a certain point in the story, you’ll unlock the “Overclock Gear” which greatly enhances your battle capabilities for the cost of 3,000 TP. When activated, it vastly reduces your Arts’ recast time, allowing you to continuously pull off Arts one after the other.

While in Overclock Gear mode, you can even get a Triple Recast, which is basically a more powerful Double Recast, a more powerful version of an Art. TP carries over after fights, so it might be a good idea to fill up your meter before taking on tough bosses or Overeds.

  • Gear Counter: is the middle number in purple, which changes colors as you use Arts.

  • Gear Time: is the bar next to the Gear Counter. It decreases over time and ends the Overclock Gear when completely empty.

Here’s a rundown on how to fight while in Overclock Gear mode:

  • Count-up Effect: The Gear Counter’s hit number goes up each time you use the same type of Arts consecutively, like Fighting Arts to Fighting Arts, or Shooting Arts to Shooting Arts. Depending on the number, there are effects such as “extend Gear Time,” “increased damage,” and “number of TP gained from attacks increased”.

  • Color Combo: As the Gear Counter’s color order changes (such as yellow to green) there will be extra effects such as “count number increase,” “increased positional damage,” “HP recovery,” and “bonus experience points”.

  • Party Chain: if other party members get 3,000 TP while you’re in Overclock Gear mode, they will also activate their own Overclock Gears. When several characters activate it at the same time, there will be a special effect.

  • Reactivate: while Overclock Gear is active, filling up the TP to 3,000 will allow you to reactivate and extend the Gear Time.

Xenoblade Chronicles X Unlocks A Neat Feature After You Complete The Game. April 6, 2015 . 9:01am

After you play Xenoblade Chronicles X to completion once, a “fashion equipment” option will be added to the equipment menu.

Monolith Soft and Nintendo will be talking about Xenoblade Chronicles X’s player-controlled mechs, called “Dolls,” in a new presentation on the game this Friday. While you wait for that, director Koh Kojima has other things he wants to talk about, such as the fashion equipment in the game.

After you play Xenoblade Chronicles X to completion once, a “fashion equipment” option will be added to the equipment menu. This option will allow you to customize your character’s visual equipment separate from your actual gear that you use for combat purposes. In summary, you’ll be able to equip the gear you like visually, without actually using its stats.

“Also, it appears that there are users that are concerned about creating their avatar, but you’ll be fine even if you just create one quickly and begin playing, probably,” Kojima says in another tweet. This would imply that your character’s look isn’t necessarily set in stone and that you will have an opportunity to customize it once the game begins as well.

Xenoblade Chronicles X will be released on April 29th in Japan. A Western release is planned for sometime later this year as well.

Xenoblade Chronicles X Details Starting Classes And Battle Effects. April 6, 2015 . 2:31pm

While it’s important to have your offensive and defensive Arts down, buffs and debuffs are something that players will also need to keep in mind.

There are all kinds of Arts to learn in Xenoblade Chronicles X, but you’ll need to learn them through different character classes. The official website shares a look at some of the starter classes, in addition to details on the buffs and debuffs of the game.

The very first class is the “Drifter” and once it hits rank 10, it branches out to three different classes: “Assault,” “Command,” and “Forcer”.

Drifter:
the start of all classes. They learn a good balance arts.
Equipment: Knives, Assault Rifles

Assault:
excel at both offensive and defensive Arts. They have higher stats when it comes to HP and Fighting power.
Equipment: Long Swords, Assault Rifles

Command:
uses various Arts to damage enemies. Their stats focus more on Fighting, Shooting, and Evasion.
Equipment: Dual Swords, Dual Guns

Forces:
a remote support-type that has many Shooting Arts. Their stats are higher on Shooting power and Latent Abilities.
Equipment: Knives, Ray Guns.

While it’s important to have your offensive and defensive Arts down, buffs and debuffs are something that players will also need to keep in mind. Here’s a look at some of the beneficial effects, or buffs, of Xenoblade Chronicles X:
Fighting Accuracy Up: increases the accuracy of Fighting attacks.

Shooting Power Up: increases the damage done with Shooting attacks.

Beam Resistance Up: reduces the damage taken by beam attribute attacks.

Damage Armor: creates a barrier that absorbs a fixed amount of damage.

Bullet Charge: multiplies the damage done with your next shot.

Fake Body: allows you to avoid enemy attacks for a certain number of times.
Next, is a look at buffs from weather effects and Battle Probes:

All Attribute Resistance up:
reduces the damage taken.

Critical Rate Up: increases critical hit rate.

Ether Attack Enhancement: increases damage of Ether attribute attacks.

Resist Down: reduces enemy debuff resistance, giving you a better chance to get them in “Break” and “Topple” statuses.
Now that we got a look at all the buffs and positive effects you can get for your character and allies, here’s a look at some of the debuffs:

Break: breaks target’s balance. Makes it possible for a Topple.

Knockback: pushes target backwards.

Stun: stuns the target.

Sleep: when a target is in sleep status, they can’t perform actions. They wake up upon taking a hit.

Black Sight: reduces target’s accuracy and evasion rate, along with their Shooting damage.

Burn: target takes Heat attribute damage for a fixed amount of time.
Similar to the buffs, debuffs can also come from weather and Battle Probes:

Shooting Accuracy Down: reduces the accuracy of Shooting attacks.

Fighting Power Down: reduces the damage done by Fighting attacks.

Weather Damage – Heat: target takes Heat attribute damage for a fixed amount of time.

Weather Damage – Bolt: target takes Bolt attribute damage for a fixed amount of time.

Xenoblade Chronicles X Shows Us Some Of Its Mecha Designs. April 9, 2015 . 2:30am

Illustrations for the Dolls in Xenoblade Chronicles X.

Takayuki Yanase is known for some of his mech designs done in projects such as Ghost in the Shell: Arise and Metal Gear Rising, but his latest is Xenoblade Chronicles X. The official website updates us with a gallery featuring some of his latest work for the game.

The top image is the complete drawing that Yanase completed, followed by a look at four rough illustrations. The request was to create an illustration that focuses on Dolls.

The above images show what the Dolls look like, individually. If you thought the designs look pretty familiar, Yanase also designed various Mobile Suits and Gundams for Mobile Suit Gundam 00, along with other mecha designs for Deadman Wonderland and Eureka Seven: AO.

As far as other video games go, Yanase has also worked on several Armored Core and Super Robot Taisen games in the past.

Xenoblade Chronicles X On The Starting Classes’ First Arts, Party Co-op Bonuses. April 9, 2015 . 12:31pm

The official website has been updated with further information on the early Arts of the starting classes.

Monolith Soft previously shared details on Xenoblade Chronicles X’s starting classes along with some information on buffs and debuffs. The official website has now been updated with further information on the early Arts of the starting classes, and more on the party cooperation “Soul” feature.

[YT]V8SbCB8ycqE[/YT]
The above video demonstrates a player using Arts in battle, showing off some of the Shooting and Fighting skills.

After using an Art, you won’t be able to use it again until its “Recast Time” finishes. The Recast Time varies from Art to Art, and continuing another charge will result in a “Double Recast,” which vastly increases its effects. While in Overclock Gear, you can go an extra step with the “Triple Recast”.

Here are some of the first Arts learned by the starting class of Drifter, followed by the next three classes of Assault, Command, and Forcer.

Drifter’s Early Arts:

  • Assault Hammer: hits target with the gunstock, causing physical damage and “Topple” status. (Assault Rifle/Rank 1)

  • Fire Grenade: shoots a grenade towards the enemy, causing Fire attribute damage, and inflicts a Burn status. Again, does more damage against targets that are Toppled. (Assault Rifle/Rank 1)

  • Chrome Armor: reduces the amount of physical damage taken for an ally. (Knife/Rank 2)

Assault’s Early Arts:

  • Rising Blade: three consecutive slashes of Weapon attribute damage to the enemy. Does more damage when you’re targeted by the enemy. (Long Sword/Rank 1)

  • Protection Mode (Tension Art): uses 1,000 TP for an aura that gives the effects of “Damage Taken Down,” “HP Regeneration,” and “Fighting Attack Power Down”. (Long Sword/Rank 2)

  • Powered Dive: activates a “Bullet Charge” effect (next attack does double the damage). Completely evade enemy attacks during this Art. (Assault Rifle/Rank 3)

Command’s Early Arts:

  • Back Slash: jumps and slashes for an attack that does Weapon attribute damage. Attacking from behind does more damage. (Dual Swords/Rank 1)

  • Early Count (Tension Art): uses 1,000 TP for an aura that further increases any “Critical Damage Increase” effect and adds “Critical Rate Up” and “Evasion Up”. (Dual Guns/Rank 1)

  • Stream Edge (Tension Art): a sword dance-like attack of five consecutive hits that does Weapon attribute damage. When used after a Shooting combo, it does more damage. Costs 1,000 TP. (Dual Swords/Rank 2)

Forcer’s Early Arts:

  • Beam Blast: shoots a thick laser that does Weapon attribute damage. When you have any aura effect, it does more damage. (Raygun/Rank 1)

  • Maintenance: gets rid of debuffs while restoring HP of a party member. (Knife/Rank 1)

  • Splash Blast: a laser that does Weapon attribute damage in addition to a Black Sight effect (lowers accuracy, evasion, and Shooting attack damage.)
[YT]we1UabMgIgI[/YT]

Another key feature in Xenoblade Chronicles X’s combat is the “Soul” system. It works by having allies communicate amongst each other during battle, where they’re granted with effects like HP Recovery and Damage Up Against Enemies. Here are the two varieties of Soul communications.

Soul Voice: A party member will say something like “It’s off guard! Let’s wreck it with Fighing Arts!” or “I did it! Give me some cover fire!” it will mark your corresponding Arts, and using them will increase your health along with the other party member. Additionally, it increases your bond with the party member.

Soul Challenge: Are bonuses granted for meeting certain conditions. For example, if you get “start the fight with a Fighting weapon” or “when your HP reaches 30% or lower,” you’ll then see an orange circle appear in the middle of the screen. By timing with the “B button” you can gain effects such as “HP Recovery For All Allies,” and “Soul Stage Level Increase By 1”. Getting a “Perfect” will grant you bonus TP, too.

Soul Challenge effects can be adjusted to your liking. For example, the “start the fight with a Fighting weapon” can have effects such as “Damage up + 100%,” “Break effect,” and “Gain 200TP Per Hit” are just some of the many effects that can be matched with your Soul Challenges.

There’s also a feature called “Soul Stage” which increases the level by 1 whenever you meet the requirements of a Soul Challenge. This grants further effects like “Soul Voice Rates Up,” or “TP Bonus For Great Success”.

Xenoblade Chronicles X will release in Japan on April 29, 2015 for Wii U. The game will release later this year in the West.

Xenoblade Chronicles X Details Its Different Types Of Dolls And How They Fight. April 10, 2015 . 7:07am

Dolls in Xenoblade Chronicles X can be heavily customized, and here’s a look at how that works.

We learned a lot about Xenoblade Chronicles X’s mecha weapons, called Dolls, in Monolith Soft and Nintendo’s latest stream for the game. The presentation focused on customizing and fighting as these powerful weapons, and we’ve got all the details. Let’s start with the basics—the different types of Dolls and their weapons.

There are three Doll types: Light, Middle, and Heavy-type Dolls. Light type have low HP but a high evasion rate, Middle-type are easy-to-use and well-balanced, while Heavy-types are bulky and require technique to control, but they have plenty of health and defense. Within each Doll-type are the different Doll models such as Wels, Inferno, and so on.

The Urban Doll models have bike-like transformations with the ability to drift, while Infernos transform into four-wheeled vehicles that are balance for driving. Depending on the type of Doll type, they have their own unique transformations, and there are even tank-like transformations.

Additionally, upon successfully developing a Flight Pack, you’ll be able to freely fly around using the Dolls. You’ll be able to test drive and fly around in NLA, too, but wherever you are, keep an eye out on your Doll Fuel. Additionally, Dolls can be purchased, and you can own several of them, but they’re also quite expensive.

While fighting as your character, there are various Arts and such, and it’s pretty much the same for Dolls, depending on the equipment you use. Hand Weapons for auto-attacks, and they’re just as important to use as they are while you’re on your character.

Arm Weapons used for Arts and have features like Beam Shields and Mini-guns. They have plenty of Art effects such as powering yourself up or weakening enemies.

Spare Weapons aren’t too strong with weapons such as Beam Sabers and Grenades, but they have low recast rates, which can come in handy. Back Weapons are powerful, with stronger weapons on the right-side and more characteristic weapons on the left. There are some that use both side slots, and they’re extra powerful.

Finally, the Shoulder Weapons are even stronger than Back Weapons. Similar to Back Weapons, their right-side are stronger while their left parts are more characteristic.

Parts and weapons for the Dolls can be purchased at shops, but there are some that you won’t be able to buy at stores, and these are called “Super Weapons”. These require design plans, and they require quite a lot of slots as well, so you won’t be able to equip as many weapons, but they will be extremely powerful.

Finally, customizing Dolls to your liking with various parts, weapons, and colors, is part of the fun of having your very own Doll, and giving it your personal touch. Judging by the presentation, Doll customization is extremely in-depth, and you can see examples of this in the screengrabs we’ve taken.

Xenoblade Chronicles X will release in Japan on April 29, 2015 for Wii U, and later this year in the West.

Customizable Dolls. Yup, I'm now officially glad that Zelda has been delayed, as this game will be taking way, way too much of my time.

Also, in other good news, apparently there will be an optional DLC to help with load times for the physcial version. Apparently it is an HDD cache. All four total comes to 10 GBs. And it is all free.

It is weird, in some ways Nintendo is behind the other companies, but in others, so, so much better.

Ok so some of this has been translated via subtitles. I'm putting this ups now with a bit of a written run/ break down of what's in the video and two more fallowing very detailed articles .

Not long ago, Gamechap released their partial subtitled video of the latest livestream demonstrating the Dolls and Online Network which you can watch below.

Nintendo released a new 30-minute video detailing Xenoblade Chronicles X‘s mecha “Dolls” and network features this morning.
Get the details below.
Doll Types
There are three types of Dolls, which any character can ride:

  • Light Type - Low HP and high evasion.
  • Middle Type - Well-balanced andeasy to control.
  • Heavy Type - High HP, heavy armor/defense, and requires finesse.
Dolls can transform into various land vehicles depending on type of Doll, each with their own unique traits. Urban Dolls are two-wheeled, fast, and good at drifting. Inferno Dolls are four-wheeled, emphasis on stability, and have easy handling. There’s also a Caterpillar type.
Dolls can also fly with a flight pack. You’ll have limited fuel, of course, and will fall back down if you run out mid-air.
As for how to obtain Dolls, they are purchased from the Blade Shop. Players can own as many as they like, but each unit costs a significant amount.
Equipment and Battle
Dolls are capable of auto-attacking and using Arts. Their Arts change based on equipment.
Equipment includes: dedicated auto-attack hand weapon, Arts-casting hand weapons, spear weapons, back weapons, and shoulder weapons. (Basically all non auto-attack weapons are Arts weapons.) Arts weapons have slots and can be separately equipped on left and right sides.
Arm weapons include: the beam shield and vulcan, among others. Many have support arts that have properties like buffs and debuffs.
Spare weapons are typically stored along Doll’s legs. They have short recast time and are easy to use.
Back weapons are especially powerful. Right-handed ones tend to be for offense and are as such powerful, while left is more about support. Some can be used in both slots and are especially potent.
Shoulder weapons even more powerful than back weapons. Like back weapons, right is about power, left is about support.
Doll weapons can also bought from shops. Some high-tier types can’t be bought, but instead must be crafted from recipes. Weapons with lots of equippable slots are particularly fearsome.
Doll parts can be named and their parts individually colored. Focusing purely on super powerful parts is bad for fuel, so it is not recommended.
Flying and using Arts takes up fuel. Powerful arts are especially greedy, meaning players can run out of fuel if they’re not careful. If they run out of fuel, naturally, they’re unable to use Arts.
Dolls will regain fuel if players eject from them, but slowly. Fuel can be instantly replenished when you’re at New Los Angeles, but takes a large amount of Miranium.
Doll combat tactics emphasize exploiting enemies in a collapsed state by using the “Catch” mechanic. During Catch, enemies are unable to move, nor attack. In exchange, Dolls deal more damage and are significantly more accurate. Additionally, a well-timed B button press will continue the Catch state.
Cockpit Mode sometimes engages during battles inside Dolls. In Cockpit Mode, recast times for Arts are replenished instantly, allowing for a barrage of strong attacks to hit one after the other. Whether it activates depends on luck, though.
Dolls are also able to use Overclock Gear, upping their damage output, recast times, etc.
Doll Insurance
Because your parts can get destroyed by the enemy, you won’t be able to use a certain weapon when, for example, an arm is destroyed. If you continue getting hit, the Doll will be completely destroyed. If that happens, you’ll be able to use your insurance for the first three times to recover the Doll for free. After the fourth time, however, you’ll need to pay a hefty fee.
Of course, buying a new one costs even more money, so it’s important to keep your Doll intact and not-destroyed.
Network
There are always other players roaming about the game somewhere. When connected to the network, you can meet up with other members of Blade (players) and explore Mira. Together, you can fight, gain experience points, and secure human resources.
Squads
Squads consists of 32 people, including your online allies that have been exploring Mira. Together, you can combine your power and explore.
Blade Report
Blade Report is a feature that allows players to share info about Mira for more effective exploration. Sending reports of discoveries to the Squad will forward your findings to the other members. Valuable findings can be highly rated, with well-regarded reports potentially going on to be shared even outside the Squad.
Squad Missions
Squad Missions are subjugation and gathering missions that players can take on with their squad at fixed times. During these missions, the number of items you collect and enemies you defeat are displayed on screen, and for each you collect or defeat, your quota will decrease. If you achieve one within the five conditions of Squad Missions, you’ll receive a Squad Quest.
Squad Quests
Squad Quests are special missions that players can take on in a four-person squad. At Blade Headquarters, there is a special terminal players can use to access the network and recruit squad members for these quests. It’s possible to take along NPC members like Rin, as well.
World Enemies
When you clear Squad Missions and Squad Quests, your reclamation of the game’s vast world will increase. Accompanying this rise in reclamation value are “World Enemies,” which appear the more you reclaim the planet. Although difficult, the reward for defeating a World Enemy is big. Some World Enemies appear at fixed intervals, as well.
Union Gram
Blade has eight units known as “Unions” with different duties. “Union Grams” display what each Union is currently doing. Each Union has its own respective activities they are recommended to carry out. By performing said recommendations, players can achieve a higher rating for their Union.
Ranking
Various different entries are being prepared for online rankings.
