XFiles movie........where is the truth?:(

rest assured, theres alot of people that want x-files 2 to happen- but at the moment it's stuck in limbo over legal issues/rights. Apparently there have been a few scripts written over the years.

Duchovny and Anderson have both expressed interest in another - duchovny going so far to say that the franchise could continue in movie form and be more "viable than mission impossible."

It will be a stand-alone however (which imo the first should have been)
Totally disagree with those that say the show dropped in quality before mulder left- Season 8 was a great season, on par with any other especially the last episode where mulder and scully become lovers- that was handled very well.

Sure Season 9 suffered from a lack of Mulder- but hey at least they tried...plus the final episode was still pretty cool. John Doggett was a great character- would definately want to see more of him in a movie.

I'd love to see an X-Files 2- as long as it didnt feel like a tv-movie. Plus I'm not sure how they'll deal with the fact the two are a couple either.

Duchovny Confirms X-Files 2... Again
An end to development hell in sight?
by Paul Davidson

March 28, 2007 - X-Files star David Duchovny and series creator Chris Carter have been talking about a second X-Files motion picture for years. However, the talk has remained just that — talk — with 1998's mid-series movie marking the high point in the X-Files franchise.

Is there more truth out there waiting to be pursued, cornered, and analyzed by Fox Mulder and Dana Sculley? Apparently so, for firm plans are finally underway to make a new film based on the popular paranormal-themed show. Duchovny told the press, as reported on the IESB.net website, this week that he and co-star Gillian Anderson are in final negotiations for The X-Files II. In fact, he was confident enough to say that a deal would probably struck by the end of the week, with filming to commence in 2008.

There is no script for the film yet, but Duchovny suggested it would follow up on the core stories of both the series and the movie. It's worth remembering, however, that when Duchovny was previously in negotiations for the movie back in 2005, he stated they were working on a story that would focus on the supernatural rather than the alien conspiracy that dominated the film and most of the series.

Additionally, it's not clear whether any use will be made of the screenplay Frank Spotnitz was hired to write in 2006. Spotnitz was then under orders to ignore the X-Files alien mythology in favor of a fresh story. If previous work on the film is being discarded, does that mean we get another film based on the intriguing alien plot and mythology of the TV series? This is one more film we'll be watching closely here at IGN Movies.

Why can't they just stop comfirming the movie over and over again and make the damn thing.

Problem is, there are looooooads of really mediocre paranomal thrillers out there these days....just recently we've had Jim Carrey's Number 23, which could have easily been an episode of The X-Files, and this Sandra Bullock/Dr Doom 'he's dead - no he isn't' movie.

With The X-Files, there has got to be paranoia, conspiracy and mystery.

Final Destination was originally going to be an X Files episode.

Am I the only one who wants a continuation of the conspiracy plot? There's more drama there. Oh well, anything X-Files is fine by me.

I really hope that's true{but with the movie going back and forth, we'll see}. I like the idea of a stand alone movie.

Could it be 1-18-08??? Just kidding.
I really liked the show and the first movie.

No, you're not. There's gotta some conspiracy if the movie is set after S9.

New X-Files Movie Next Summer?
David Duchovny says the long-awaited film could hit theaters in 2008.
by Eric Goldman

US, July 14, 2007 - At the TCA (Television Critics Association) press tour today, David Duchovny was in attendance to promote his new Showtime series Californication. During the event he was asked about the often speculated about second X-Files movie. Duchovny said that it was indeed going forward, and added that "Gillian [Anderson] is onboard."

After the event, I was among a smaller group of journalists who spoke to the actor further, and Duchovny was asked why he felt so confidant the movie was happening this time, after years of rumors about different scripts. Duchovny answered that the reason he was sure about this script was because "I'm actually supposed to see it next week! Before I would just say that [there was a movie] because they told me, but now, after talking to Chris [Carter] -- he's been giving me progress reports -- and he actually called yesterday, and said 'Next week, you should have something to read.'"

Asked to confirm earlier reports that the movie would be a standalone story, and not part of the larger mythology arc of the series, he replied "It should be. It should be a one-off, yeah."

I then asked Duchovny what the schedule for the film might be, in terms of both shooting it and releasing it, and he said "I think it was November, for a summer release." When asked if that would be summer 2008, the actor nodded.

Duchovny said he was looking forward to playing Fox Mulder again, and when asked why, answered, "Because he's cool! It's a great show and I love playing the character and I like the people."

We NEED more X-Files... there hasn't been a show since that has reached the greatness of the X-Files, imo. Hell even the "not so great" episodes aren't that bad in comparison to some shows out there today.

Also, X-Files fans I suggest you check out Supernatural on the CW. It's probably one of the closest things to the X-Files we will get for some time. The show is about two brothers on the road hunting down monsters, demons and the supernatural. It even dives into some urban legends such as the Hook Man and Bloody Mary. So, if you're looking for a show similar to X-Files, I suggest you give the show a shot because you will probably like it alot as well. The show also has some of the writers from the 'X-Files' team and is produced by John Shiban, one of the producers of the 'X-Files'.

I've been an X-Files fan from the start to finish, it's still one of my all-time favorites. I wouldn't mind seeing another X-Files film, if it ever comes around, that is.

Do you really need another one? The existing movie is pretty mediocre in retrospect.

The X-Files TV show ran for a decade, I think that's more than enough. The show ran out of creative juice long before the end.

Better to remember Mulder and Scully as icons of the 90's rather than has-beens in the 00's.

Completely agree on everything.

It still blows me away that the show ran that long. It was huge hit somewhere in the middle there. I didn't start watching until season 3 and hung around until about season 7, when it was obvisous there was no more gas in the tank. It went down hill real fast.
That show was so hit square on the bullseye or just plain miss. There were episodes where I was convinced it was the most creative thing on TV, and there were others that were so formula that they were hard to sit through. The show had so many different writers it made for such a schizophrenic show in terms of tone and theme....but that was one thing that kept me comeing back for a while.

The movie was OK. Not too bad, but it just played with the general myths of the show.
I agree that Mulder and Scully should be left as a phenomenon of the 90's. When I think back to 90's TV.. Seinfeld, X-files, and maybe the first few years of Friends..define it for me.

  I'd like the conspiracy stuff to come back, but I understand that they'd need to do something like this first (or for a while). You gotta give people time to accept the franchise (or be introduced to it). Then come back to the meat & potatos later.

how the hell was this thread found!?

i cant ever even get the damn search tool to work for me.

Maybe this will be the first of a series of X-Files movies, a la Star Trek :P

Great news form me, I still love the show  (maybe is 'cause I havent seen the last seasons yet :P )

Yeah, the tone of the show shifted from week to week, but I think it was for good. Remember the COPS episode? IMO it was genious.

loved the show and watched every episode until the end of season 8. Season 8 works really well...a series highlight. The mythology is actually pretty straight forward if you go back and watch all of the mythos episodes. The weakest series were 9, 5 and 6
when the production moved to L.A and took on a more sunny and humorous vibe. That said, the show was always sharply written at the worst of times. It was the introduction of super soldiers that caused the series to jump the shark, I never did like the bounty hunter arnie look alike either. Heres hoping for some real originality again in the X-Files 2 Movie. I always thought the first missed an opportunity by tying itself so closely to the tv-series. It was never really cinematic enough....looking forward to a stand alone pic.

any x-files fan who dropped the show (I did initially after season three) is really missing out. The show is still really enjoyable right up until mulders complete departure. Dogget is a good character and works really well, but Reyes was a bad idea.

I really think the title should be 'The XXX Files: Scully Gone Wild.'

The first pic is horrifically photoshopped. Face looks like plastic or a wax figure.

she looks quite concerned in the bottom left picture. maybe its cos shes in a vulnerable position? :woot:

any perverts for gillian should see a movie called straightheads (or closure in the US) ive heard she gets nekkid, and I must say its about time.:hyper:

David Duchovny Says 'X-Files 2' Will Start Shooting This December

Well, here we go again; talk of another X-Files film seemed to be the movie gossip that refused to die this summer. But for the faithful, it's all finally coming together. Movieweb recently interviewed David Duchovny about the release of the DVD for The TV Set (Jake Kasdan) when the actor decided to drop a little bomb. Duchovny told Movieweb, "the script [for X-Files 2] is written and as far as I know we're all trying to shoot in December at some point." Sure, there had been some vague promises before, but this latest announcement is the first time anyone has heard of a start date for the production. News of the sequel began to heat up when Agent Scully herself, Gillian Anderson, had discussed the possibility on her personal web site back in May. The last time Duchovny had commented on the film was back in July, but he had remained relatively tight-lipped on many of the details involved.

Duchovny has just finished work on Vincent Perez's film, The Secret, and Gillian Anderson will soon begin shooting How To Lose Friends and Alienate People. After that, both stars will have two big empty spots in their schedules, just in time for December. Duchovny requested that fans try and contain themselves and, "keep it a secret and just give everybody a fresh experience of not knowing what the movie's about" -- staying true to form, there was not much he could add beyond confirming that yes, the script is complete and they are ready and willing to start production. Even though it is not exactly the most detailed information, when it comes to X-Files, I think most fans will take what they can get. Stay tuned for updates as they come our way.

Took ten years but seems like its finally happening.
