On another forum I frequent we've been using this applet that lets you chat with other people visiting a given web site. It's called Yaplet, it's pretty user-friendly and everybody seems to like it, and he people who run it seem pretty okay and have been really helpful about taking suggestions and working with the forum's admins. So I thought I'd give it a plug here. Give it a try if you feel so inclined.
I didn't see anything in the rules about promoting something like this but if for whatever reason the people in charge here would rather I didn't then by all means close/delete this or whatever you feel is appropriate.
