You Color It.

looks too much like the 89' movie version of bats

And what's wrong with that?

Are you saying that Bob Kane's Batman is now "wrong?" What about Neal Adams? Bruce Timm? Kevin Nowlan? Dick Spang? Jim Lee? What about some of the fan artists on this site? Every artist who interpreted Batman over the last 65 years is, what, wrong?

Does the release of Batman Begins mean that all Batman pics from now on have to look like Christian Bale?

Hell, the Brett Booth drawing doesn't really look like the 1989 Micheal Keaton Batsuit at all (possibly around the gloves....)!

Sorry, I have no idea why the above post pi$$ed me off so much... I think it was the "well, I think, therefore it is." attitude in the "too much like."

Just to beat a dead horse....

If your Batman doesn't look like Bob Kane's, it's now "wrong."

OK, now to get back on topic....

Here's a little Ra's al Ghul drawing by Ra's al Ghul co-creator Neal Adams... Obviously, any other look for Ra's is "wrong..."

Right, so some time ago, I made a comment about writing a tutorial on drawing lens flares, And it's getting close to being done... Below is a detail from a thing I threw together, mostly to test how my lens flare techniques were working. The tutorial is coming, but you have to pinky-swear to never again use the crappy Lens Flare Filter in Photoshop... Dude, seriously....

This is a hand-drawn lens flare, grasshoppers...
(Actually, everything in this is hand-drawn except the tron-like circuts in the background... That effect I stole from HERE... http://www.tutorialoutpost.com/count/3034 )

here's some fo my own work if anyone wants to take a shot at it, i've coloured a few myself but most have already seen them

now come on man, I don't mean it as a bad thing. I was just saying that the drawing was very similar to the old and yet awesomely great 89's Batman movie costume. I'm am avid fan and collector of over thousands of batman and superman, etc comics, and I'm also an artist myself, so I have no problem with other artist using other medium's designs. I was just looking at the drawing and thought that it was well drawn but that it just looked similar to the other Bat design. I mean, if you look at some of my stuff, you'll see hints of different derivations I've used from other artists such as Norman Rockwell, or Tim Sale which I would like to think. But yea, I don't mean to piss ya off, if I wanted to, I would but I got nothing against ya man. So, I say in public, its a great drawing but it just looks similar. We cool?

Yeah, we cool... Had a bit of a bug up my buttocks yesterday. I've seen other posts on this and other forums where it sounded like the person posting WAS saying that "such and such drawing was 'wrong'." so I think I was just ranting at an entire subclass of post.

I stand by the content of what I said in general (poking fun at anyone who says anyone else's interp of a character doesn't "look right.") but I was a little aggressive... In your art thread I noticed some of the Tim Sale in your work, but I didn't catch the rockwell...

Then again, to look like Rockwell you need a freckled-faced, red-headed boy in a striped shirt with a slingshot in his back pocket, and, either some apple pie, a policeman, or a puppy....

But go look at the flarey-thing, above. Seriously, I am totally revolutionizing flares and glares soon....

i tried to do harley quinn i guess it came out nice :D
