You know it's true: The Watchmen 2 Thread

DC screwed Moore in a sense, so he has the right to get mad. I don't have a problem with it but from a comic book fan perspective, these watchmen prequels are no different from any other major comic book property. At least with these prequels you are getting top talent to do them, which you can't say currently with Batman, Superman, ect.

which you can't say currently with Batman, Superman, ect.

Morrison and Snyder's respective Superman and Batman titles are among the books that are getting the most praise (and dollars) in the New 52.

I understand Moore getting mad, but he takes it way too far. Like his annoyane with Marvel over a freaking accidental misprint.

Ah, but you see what I mean, right? People want to write this off as a terrible idea that will tarnish the original Watchmen graphic novel but looking at the past, The Dark Knight Strikes Again didn't tarnish The Dark Knight Returns. It'll either be great or we forget that it even existed.

It's not ass kissing when Moore is consistently rude to both DC and Marvel (moreso to Marvel on account that his gripes against Marvel are rather assinine as opposed to his somewhat legitimate beef with DC). But my biggest problem isn't how Moore disrespects faceless companies but more along the lines of how he's disrespectful of the creators of the Big Two, acts like he's the greatest thing since Jesus, and forgets that he does everything that he complains about the Big Two doing.

Not specific to Moore & DC, I've seen you sing DC's praises for everything they do the last few years... whether it's a good idea or not...

As far as Moore goes, we can have different opinion on the man, and that's fine with me... I agree with some of your above mentioned comments, and disagree with a few others... perhaps we canget ino it with greater detail on some other date than Super Bowl Sunday...

Actually thinking about it, I can totally understand where you're coming from. But I'll freely admit when when I know that my opinion is a minority opinion such as my liking of JMS' issues in Superman and Wonder Woman. And I'll also admit that between the Big Two, DC is my favorite. I grew up more on Batman and Superman over Spider-Man (another favorite of mine) and the X-Men.

However much of my praise for DC comes more from the very simple fact that overall, DC has been quite satisfying. But when DC does something wrong, I certainly ***** about it. You should see me in the Teen Titans thread, where I act like DC has utterly destroyed and raped one of my favorite franchises (which they have by the way).

Now that will be an interesting conversation.

DC has been good latelly, i think that the reboot should have been a 100 % reboot with things going to year one, but it was mostly good, my only problem with this is that i would have liked the Minutemen comic to be a 12 issues miniseries as was originally planed by Alan Moore in the 80s

If they went back to year one people would either get pissed off because they have to sit through everything (Sinestro crossing over, Dick becoming Nightwing, Harvey getting scarred, Superboy, Supergirl, Jason, Tim, Damian, Talia, Guy, John, Kyle, not showing up for years) over again or piss people off because you changed everything from the origin up. I think keeping it but manipulating it to suit your story works best.

Agreed

I would have hated it if DC had completely rebooted everything :down

From what i saw in older Hype threads these prequels and spin-offs have been rumored for years, so i think that they may do a sequel to watchmen, this project is actually a good way to test the ground

The talking kitteh was fab :atp:

There should have been less gore and death and more talking kitteh

There should have been so much less of so much other stuff beside the gore in that story, along with the gore.

:wow:

I'll....... be in my bunk. :o

Can't say I'm the biggest Cooke fan so this doesn't do all that much for me.

It's weird because I actually do appreciate his work in The New Frontier yet this doesn't do a thing for me.

Don't know how to explain.

I've got a good feeling about this :)
But what is the crimson corsair?

he was called the crimson corsair?

I know but is he related to the original pirate story?

I don't know, probably? It's a pirate story. There was a pirate story in Watchmen, what do you think?

Hell, it could just be the kid that was reading the pirate story reading another pirate story. Could be what the dude who went nuts became after he slaughtered his whole family at the end of the pirate story. Could be a completely new story, but fits because it's a pirate story. All we know for certain is that it's a pirate story.
