"You ready for another Bout?"- The Thor/Chris Hemsworth Thread

Has anyone read any news regarding Chris wanting to quit? On another forum I'm a part of, people mentioned rumors of this because Chris apparently has trouble maintaining that Thor physique of his. He says that the workout is punishing.

I can understand though, working out to get that body cannot be enjoyable. But it'd too bad if he left once his contract's up.

Never heard that one^^

There was some rumor about him wanting more money because RDJ gets paid like 10 times as much as everyone else, but that seems like bull too

And honestly, Hemsworth seems to have the easiest time out of any current superhero actor pulling off the physique.

Jackman talks about all the dieting and exercize and asking Rock for help, and how tough it is to be 40 and doing that
Chris Evans talks about it like it's absolute hell, because he is a skinnier dude and it's tough

Whereas, when asked about his workout, Hemsworth just kinda says "Eh, I eat more and work out and stuff"
It seems to be no big deal for him.
Did anyone see Hemsworth on Jimmy Kimmel?? He hit that carnival hammer game one handed with a prop mjonir and sent it flying, after saying he had to slim down for that Melville's-inspiration movie he's working on.... he really is Thor.

Hemsworth just nailed every scene he was in and has successful showcased Thor's character progression from the first film and The Avengers. Hats off to Chris who has mostly defiantly earn his position as THOR

Hemsworth was once again terrific as Thor. It's hard to imagine anyone bringing the character to life as perfectly as he has done. I thought he looked even more in command of the role than ever, and he had some great interactions with Hopkins, Hiddleston and Portman. He has the character down cold.

I just wish that they had given him a more definite arc in the film.

I mean he's practically the same person for the most part from the beginning to the end of the film. The only thing that really changed for him, on a major note, was his views towards Loki.

And I guess the MCU might be trying to establish with both how it was shown in our recent film and recent episode of AOS that Thor's powers come majorly from his hammer and not so much from him.

his views toward the crown also changed plus his abode. fairly major

Agreed. At the beginning of the film he's acting the responsible crown prince by all accounts, even refraining from contacting Jane because of his responsibilities. During the course of the movie he realizes what ruling does to people and what it takes and comes to the conclusion that he's not willing to go that route, and seemingly choosing Midgard over Asgard.

Agreed. The first film was about him maturing into someone mature enough to rule. So of course the next film would be him turning down the crown. A pretty typical part of earning the right to rule is being humble enough to turn it away when the opportunity presents itself. It's like that old saying about how the people who want power are those least fit to wield it.

Plus, you know, kinda hard to be an Avenger when you're king of the nine realms.

See, but I think they needed to show more of those hardships of being king to show how Thor actually grew, but instead, his choice to leave at the end seemed solely motivated by his feelings for Jane.
I wished they would've shown more of the hard and sometimes heartless decisions Odin has had to make, and I think they should've left in the scene of Bor killing Malekith's family.
Then we'd see that Thor weighed the costs of ruling and the things it makes you do, and decided to walk away and be a better man, while also fleshing out Malekith further

Well look's like Chris is pulling a Chris (Bale) on us as well when it comes to changing drastically for a role.

I think TDW houses Hemsworth's best performance as Thor. To be honest, all of his performances have been pretty much perfect. I like him in TDW more due to the maturity he displays, & there is a lot more emotional baggage with him as well.

How much do you think Chris weighed during filming of TDW? My guess would be around 210-215 pounds.

Hemsworth's performance is the first reason why I actually love this movie. He's perfect,my favourite CBM hero by far.

Just saw the trailer for this new film In the Heart of the Sea. Looks AMAZING. I can't wait to see it. I love how Hemsworth is committed to Thor but still pushing himself and seizing opportunities to grow as an actor by taking these other roles. Ron Howard obviously likes him.

I agree with this completely! I can't imagine anyone else playing Thor honestly. He hits all the right notes and never oversells his role. Combined with Hiddleston, the acting in The Dark World alone elevates the film above other films in the genre in my book.
