the
Austin Powers films were good spoofs... also have to give marks to
Carry On Spying, which i enjoyed quite a bit...
my favorite spoof, though, i think, was a 1981 film called
Rustlers' Rhapsody... it was a parody of Western films, starring Tom Berrenger as the main good guy and an aged Andy Griffith as the main bad guy... John Wayne's son, Patrick, also an important role near the end...
my dad used to rent Rustlers' Rhapsody about once every year when i was growing up, because it was one of his favorites, and i learned to love it because of him, i think... since it was a little-known film, there was only one rental store we knew of that carried it in our town, but they went out of business when i was in my early teens, and i never saw the movie again for the longest time... then about 2 years ago, i found it on VHS and snatched it up... finally got the DVD a couple months ago, and i have to say, it's still just as hilarious as the first time i watched it! classic film!
it's a shame it was never that popular... anyone who likes the old westerns would surely appreciate its fresh approach... very well done, IMHO...
