Your Only Meaningful Relationship Is With An Inflatable Wrestling Thread - Part 239

The Hardyz likely had cold feet about returning to the WWE knowing that they would have to say adios to the Broken Universe if they do return.

Also, would the WWE do an African tournament? They can get a head start on everyone else by holding an African tournament.

It's funny because rumor has it that Impact talked to Bully and one other unamed guy about coming in and taking the title off Lashley before ultimately going with Alberto. I bet the other guy was Ryback

No. They offered Ryback a deal sometime in 2016. The original plan was for Galloway, but he didn't re-sign so they went out to Bully Ray, and were close to a deal, but nothing came of it. So, they went with Alberto, who they were originally going to sign, but backed off of, and then Galloway and Hardys left, so they picked him up.

Impact Spoilers

So, this is looking like the new signees for Impact: Alberto El Patron, LAX (Konan, Hernandez, Angel Rose and EYFBO), Garza Jr., Laredo Kid, Reno Scum (tag team), Matt Morgan, Chris Mordetsky.

For the Knockouts ODB is apparently back, Alexxis Nevaeh (though I guess she's going by her real name now, Alisha), Rachel Ellering and Santana Garrett have been getting tryouts, Leva Bates wrestled for the Knockouts ONO. Any or all three could be getting signed. Also may be bringing in Christina Von Eerie.

It does seem like they are really trying to hit the Latino market.

Seeing as how Impact Wrestling has no testing policy, he fits in there nicely.

Santana Garrett has also done a couple NXT matches (WOW seems to be her home promotion, she was a tag champ there with Amber O'Neal) also Rachel Ellering has had some work in NXT

Id prefer Garrett in NXT, but you go where the opportunities are

hope Tessa Blanchard ends up in NXT permanently

The Hardyz are better off in ROH anyways. They can continue the Broken Universe there. There is no way in hell that the Broken Universe will thrive in WWE. They will come back to the WWE the way they left:

getting some of that sweet merch money though

they were one of the biggest sellers during their tenure

Broken Matt Hardy has been the only time I have liked Matt Hardy in the last decade. Likewise Brother Nero for Jeff. If they return like they were when they left, and the fans in attendance began to chant "delete" then we'll see the WWE punish both of them by making both of them job to Roman Reigns at the same time.

If they sign with the WWE, it's adios to the Broken Universe. I do hope that their ROH run is long term. I am going to enjoy the Broken Hardy's while I can before they go back to Team Extreme in the WWE and get treated like the Dudleys were in their last run.

Im totally on board with them being in ROH, my comment was just a missive

the problem there though is that Jeff can't go to New Japan due to his drug convictions.

Do I think that Matt and Jeff will return to the WWE? Eventually I do, but not until they start competing in the Indies as what they were when they left the WWE.

they can do a version of "BROKEN" in WWE

do what Jericho did, come back, don't talk all that much, have Matt take the lead, build from there

They only way Broken Matt works in the WWE is if Matt has creative control of the character and his storylines in the WWE and the chances of that happening is 0%.

I don't see Matt Hardy coming back to the WWE as Broken Matt or Jeff coming back as Brother Nero. No way.

honestly, Id love for ROH to become a legit #2 promotion

they just need a proper TV deal

They're already #2. Comet TV may suck but it's in way, way more homes than Pop, Spike, AXS, Destination America, or El Rey.

Because of ROH's business model it's fairly unlikely any big network is going to give them a major TV deal. TV networks pay for exclusive content, and ROH TV only exists in the first place to give Sinclair Broadcast Group some original content to air on their TV stations that doesn't require a licensing fee.

As long as ROH TV is on free-to-air TV and streamed free worldwide on their website and the Fite app, nobody is going to pay them to air repeats.

Our best bet is for Sinclair to finally cut through the red tape and turn their Tennis Channel into a new national cable sports network. When that finally happens, ROH will have a permanent and more visible national home.

But even on their current syndication model they're getting at least 3X the viewers of Impact. Probably closer to 5-6X if you include streaming.

I'm not even aware of many major African wrestlers aside from Angelico

The WWE had two at one point in Adam Rose and Justin Gabriel. Also, Kofi Kingston.

There's a South African Promotion known as World Wrestling Professionals that will have Carlito headlining their next event:

I am interested in the WWE Asia Tournament just to see how Asian wrestlers not from Japan are going to do. The WWE has been scouting talent in Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines, so it's not going to be a "Japan-only tournament" like some people think it will be plus they have like 8 Chinese at the Performance Center. Also, I'd expect that the Latin America Tournament will not just be Mexico and Puerto Rico.

I don't think he wants to ever do this, but would it be better if the Rock signed a legends deal with the WWE? He appears once (sometimes twice) a year anyways, so why not give him a Legends deal? I don't think he wants it though, but it prevents a waste of a roster spot.

Meltzer said the deal the Hardys signed with ROH "is not short term" and that they are once again taking indie bookings. They had previously stopped taking indie bookings because they were considering WWE, and if they had signed there they likely couldn't honor indie dates.

Meltzer didn't say exactly how long they signed for but said that creative freedom and the ability to keep working indies was a big factor.
