Your own batcave

Next summer I will be breaking ground on building a new house. I have always wanted my own batcave type room, you know with a secret entrance, so I'm pretty sure I will be building one, but I am in need of some suggestions from my comic book loving friends as to how to make the entrance for my batcave.

I've given it a lot of thought, and I don't want anything to complicated, and it's more of a novelty type thing (I don't think I'm batman), but what would you do if you had this oppertunity?

Would you use a book case for a door? This is what I'm leaning to.

I would also conside making two secret rooms, one upstairs but really small with a fire pole for an entrance. I've also considered making it multifunctional with a laundry shoot that leads to it. This would having to make it the laundry room as well, but that's okay. My thinking for both the fire pole and the laundry room comes from the idea that it might be a good idea to have it incase of a tornado or something.

Anyway, please use this thread to discuss any ideas you've had about making your own batcave.

For the record, it will mostly consist of guns/ammo and a couple of safes.

Oh I forgot to add, it will also house my Frankenstein collection and other worthless crap. So it will be a novelty type room too.

Only build it if it's gonna have the room underground, anything else and it's not as cool. It just goes from being batcavish to underground railroadish.

I don't need a computer in there, I will have my laptop. I have thought of video survelance though.

As far as a bar...
I will have a bar downstairs in my gameroom with a keg, so I don't need a bar in here either. It will the room that will connect to this one.

but then it wouldn't be a secret, because the gameroom is gonna be about 600 sq. ft. The basement is going to be a full basement, so anyone with a brain would be able to see that the basement doesn't look as big as it should.

So- not pointless, but smart.

I don't want to sound like an alcholic, because I only drink one beer a day, and it's for medical reasons (kidney stones). I teach youth Sunday School, and I hate going and buying it, but my doctor said it's the best thing to do for them. So far he's been correct, and I know it's okay to drink according to what the bible says as long as it's in moderation.

But Heinekin is the best!

you should use fake bats and a install a speaker system with bat sound effects looping in the background...because too much exposure to real bat droppings could cause you to go blind...seriously. But you better build it and post the pictures.

I've always wanted an idoor swimming pool, with a huge rock waterfall/mini mountain at one end. I would have a secret room behind the waterfall. I've always wanted that.

There's an animation on there of a chair that has a slide under it to get to your secret passage. You lift the cushion, and slide down.

You could also make a "slide away" wall... but that would take a LOT of space, unless you slide it UP into the ceiling and the wall above it.
