Beat downs, throw downs whatever.

What are your top 5 Spidey fights in the history of 616 continuity?

I'm gonna go figure out mine and get back to ya.

You might consider mine are a little token but there are the ones I get the most enjoyment from reading.
They also show webhead at his absolute best.

In order-

1-ASM#40 Vs Green Goblin

2-ASM#300 Vs Venom

3-ASM#250-251 Vs Hobgoblin

4-ASM#230 Vs Juggernaut

5-PPSM Vol2 #47 Vs Green Goblin

Hmmm-in no particular order;
Green Goblin, after the death of Gwen.
Juggernaut-just classic.
The aforementioned Hobgoblin battle.
Wolverine.
1st time against Ultimate Doc Ock. Hell, just about any bout w/Ock is one for the record books.

My favorite Spidey battle, and comic of all time. I have this issue framed and autographed by Stan Lee.

And this is my other favorite battle. I used to have this issue, but I trashed it to hell when I was younger. I think I like this battle, strictly for all of the humor and the whole Leeds vs. Parker angle, extending to Hobby and Spidey.

I don't need a top five, because I can clearly narrow it down to those two battles, as being my favorite Spidey fights.

These were sweet; I'll give you that. But Spidey used "borrowed" powers against the Tri-Sentinel. I like it when he has to get by on what he has.

It is true that he had to be Captain Universe, in order to take down the Tri-Sentinel, but I think I like that fight so much, because of all of the prior events that led to that point. Spidey was so confused that entire time...but when the Tri-Sentinel arrived, the powers fully kicked in, and he knew his mission. It probably seems hypocritical of me, considering how I dislike the whole stinger thing they are doing now...but this was more fun, and obviously short term and with a singular purpose. Not to mention, he complely screwed over Graviton when he didn't have time to fight him. It took like two seconds. Funny stuff.

ben reilly as spiderman and peter vs sentinels during the onslaught saga.

spidey vs morlun in coming home arc

spidey's first encounter with black tarantula (actually his second wasn't so bad either)

spidey and x-man vs electro (classic fight)

ben reilly and spidey vs the robot master and Norman osbourne (right at the end)

spidey vs norman in night of the goblin.

ben vs kaine at the end of the forgotten years (kaine getting hit in the balls is priceless, reminds me of terry fighting dirty against the jokey in ROTJ, pure genius, completely showed he was his own person)

just for the sake of it, ben reilly and kaine vs countless spidey clones

i'm a 90s man myself and truth be told, there were some stunning battles back in those times, no matter what anyone says...

oh and although spidey wasn't technically involved, ben spidey vs polestar and longshot (is that her name) while kaine took on rhino is probably one of my all time favourite fights. I mean using spidey powers to rip down a building instead of climbing up one and then beating RHINO with it.....geekasm-tastic....heck i nearly had one just typing about it.

Thank you November, you have just reminded a '90's' fan of the great moments.

X-Man/Spidey vs. Electro was great. Epic scale.

Gaunt/Osborn vs. Pete/Ben

Night of the Goblin was brilliant, too.

ben's speech to the robot master about not killing him was probably the height of my love for him...

can't remember the details but it was something about not killing people and not being the punisher, if you don't recognise the costume, i'm spider-man.

the way he was constantly trying to get peter to live his life and sacrificing himself for the cause, the sake of making sure his step family would be brought up safely. the man was a god among men....

what the hell would he think of idiot's life he went on to save... bah...

:down

My top five:

1- ASM #122
Spidey vs. Green Goblin
This was Peter at his most pissed off, fighting a foe he had every right to kill. What a fight this was...!

2- ASM #229-230
Spidey vs. Juggernaut
Damn, this was a fight! Spidey, totally outmatched, and still, he wins!

3-Secret Wars #8
Spidey vs. Titania
After Titania beat She-Hulk into a coma, our hero beats her down without her landing a single blow!!!

4-ASM#3
Spider-man vs. Doc Ock
'Nuff said!!!

5-ASM#300
Spidey vs. Venom
Love this one....Spider-Man versus a totally new foe with all his powers and then some. If only the Spidey/Venom battles had stayed up to par past issue #347....:(

Perhaps they WOULD have stayed up to par had they not become so damn frequent. And contradictory. Venom got so overused in the 90's it wasn't even funny.

I actually really liked the Spidey vs Morlun in "The Other" arc.

It was kinda shocking at some parts, what with the whole "NOW YOU HAVE NO MORE EYEBALL" then the "NOW ILL EAT YOURT ****ING FACE OFF".

I know....:cmad:

They honestly should have left him on that island. He was far more menacing when he was the unbeatable foe. I mean, the first 4 battles against Venom were phenomenol...after that, we got Venom as an ally, Venom as a good guy, Venom as a lunatic, Venom as 2 Venoms....the list goes on and on.

I think they should have left him there too, like how they should have left Norman dead.

None of which were as bad as Venom as an interchangeable entity. The Scorpion? Whose drug-induced idea was that?

I like Norman. I missed Norman. The WAY they brought him back was kinda corny, but I love him as a villain. His conflicts w/Spider-Man were always so personal, & that's rare in a superhero-supervillain relationship. I'd rather have him around than not.

LOl yeah, remeber the series where Venom fought Carnage digitally over the internet or something lol

Lol I HATE what they did to Venom!!!
At leats Brock isn't dead yet, so theres a possibility that he could recover from cancer and get back the symbiote some how. It also sucks that carnage got owned by the Sentry.... you'd think a character like him would get a better death than being taken into space and ripped in half without a fight, just because he escaped from jail... WTF???
If anyone it should've been spidey to kill him.... the Sentry isn't even that cool of a hero.

It was this terrible story in which venom and carnage got somehow downloaded and fought using the digital world as a battleground..................... I know its stupid
