Comics Your Top 5 Spidey Battles?

Except Spider-Man DOES NOT KILL. It's one of the few aspects of him that remains intact (& that nonsense w/him eating Morlun's face doesn't count.)
There are many ways to hav spidey defeat carnage perminently without killling him so it still could'ev worked

Who cares Brock/Venom is crap, get over it.
The new Venom is kicking a hell of a lot more ass than the old Venom ever did in the fact that he has killed Spider-man (Brock's lifetime ultimate goal) in Beyond.
Also the new Venom is a more fun character to read.
Get Beyond and get w/ the program dooders.
Srry I don't agree :o
Its like strapping Dock Oc's arms on GG and calling him Doc Oc 2

Spidey's first encounter with Morlun was pretty sweet
i still hate the totem crap, but nonetheless, i'll give it props
i wouldn't be a Spidey fan if i left out ASM 122
i want to read ASM 300 more than life itself
Carnage's first appearance was good
these aren't in any order, by the way

Or giving the Shocker pumpkin bomcs. Hey, let's just switch all the villains' motifs around. Have Electro run around w/a pumpkin head. Give the Rhino wings. Put a dome on Puma. And since Gargan's not using his tail anymore, Ock can have it.

Who'd he fight in 122?
Oh-another good one was #200.

he fought GG in 122
right after Gwen died in 121
it's only about the most famous story (other than AF15)
(note the ABOUT)

Ah.
Issue numbers aren't exactly my strong suit. I know stories.

You just really ruined the Carnage storyline for me; Spidey didn't need Venom to stop Carnage. That was just stupid. Truth be told I had issue with it from the beginning, but you just really brought it home. He could've gotten the sonic gun from Reed. As for finding him, he did it once, he could do it again. It would probably have made a much better story had he gone to Kafka or somebody to get some background info on Kasady.

It's a good story I liked how Carnage was way more sadistic than anyone else ever seen in a SM book, but it does have its faults.
Namely SM recruiting Venom to help bring Carnage down and then Venom agreeing.

And Spidey agreeing not to turn him in once it was over. Get real. Yeah, I really want someone whose sole desire in life is to see me dead running around loose in the city where I live. And then he actually feels bad about breaking the bargain.

I'll have to think a bit about the top five, but one of the ones I remember most off the bat is the battle with The Hulk. Spider-man ended it by knocking The Hulk out with a two-handed swinging round house! :wow:

And there have been some GG stories I've enjoyed since his resurrection, such as the first arc of Pulse. The twisted $h!t he pulled in getting control of the Bugle, the first arc of the MK book, even his Spectacular arc that existed only to tie in to the movie.

Btw Chris,- VenomIII killed SM by impaling him through the chest w/ his stinger tail.

Some good ones that I've read and have seen some people mention already are:
ASM #122 (The Goblin's Last Stand)
ASM #229-230 (Nothing Can Stop the Juggernaut)
ASM #300 (Venom)

Yeah, see I got Beyond #3 and realized that it's been Space Phantom. The whole time.

a lot of people are mentioning #300

but isn't spidey's 3rd encounter with venom their best yet.

I know the second is where venom spills offell (sp?) on spidey and he goes mad...

their third is closely after and ends with parker walking away victorious in some tighty whities...

;)

i've always felt that was there best battle, besides the artwork and the way the fights were played out were awesome...

I mean there is one time the symbiote goes below the sand the grab parker, then venom drags him closer (still underground), pulls him up and then punches him away.

I mean those panels are pure genius.

the only thing i like about the 300 fight is that parker is carrying a meaty gun and it looks cool when he whips it around.

Most also like that they are both in black for 300.
After 300, for me its 317.

That's what appealed to you? Seeing Spider-man with a gun?

it was a badass rifle and he stuck it to his back, it looked cool seeing him carry a big gun....

apart from similar costume and that, the fight i feel hasn't got anything going for it than nostalgia.

it wasn't widespread small scale, and nor did venom truelly have the psychological edge over spidey that he developed over the next few battles.

the conclusion to the bout was kinda weak and anti-climatic. So a gunned up spidey was more than a pleasure....

Spidey Vs. Juggernaut
Spidey Vs. Firelord
Spidey vs. Morlun, round 1
Spidey Vs. Mister Hyde with Cobra webbed to his right hand
Spidey vs. the suit that would become Venom, ending in the clock tower.

Spider-Man vs. Wolverine one-shot.

I must admit Chris that I'm surprised to hear you say that. IMO that was one of the worst comics EVER written. It was the beginning of the end for me. the beginning of treating SM like a noob, amateur, who was impressed by the "pros", the "real superheroes". Just thinking about that book makes me angry.
They actually portrayed Peter/SM as being afraid of people with guns, and getting shot at. WHen in fact SM was bored by that people with guns by issue 3 of Amazing fantasy.
They had him afraid of Wloverine, and acting like a scared, nooby puppy who had to follow mr. Big bad Wolverine around.
It was the precursor to the Iron lap dog, and the OMG the Great Captain America crap we are getting today.
IMO it is perhaps the biggest misrepresentation of SM ever. Yes, worst than today's crap.
I'm just surprised you liked that.

I didn't say it was a good book; I said it was a good FIGHT. The Firelord story arc sucked too but the fight was wicked cool.

If that were the real SM and not a Space Phantom.....then I'd agree :woot:

Hmm, I can't say what order I like them, but here's some of my favorate Spidey battles:

Vs Lizard in the final issue of "Torment" (Spiderman 5)
Vs Harry Osborn in the final issue of "The Child Within" (Spec. Spiderman 383 I believe)
Vs Carnage with Venom in the final issue of "Carnage" (Amaz. Spiderman 363)
Vs Bloodshed (Web of Spiderman 81) (I know, you don't know what I'm talking about)
