Your top ___ Toylines

They are two of my faves.. Along with Bebop and FULLMETALPANIC! and YuYuHakusho and Rurouni Kenshin :/

Speaking of.. Im going to invest in the trigun figures

So after looking at Toyfare's top 100 toys of the decade, I knew I disagreed with a lot of them. But since I don't have the time nor the ability to do the top 100 figures that I can think of, I decided to list the top ____ number of toy lines for myself. Go ahead and jump in! Try to let the lines that you liked as a kid influence some of your choices. But these are really what i consider my top 10 or so toy lines ever.

10. The Bots Master- Power Rangers meets Transformers in a toyline and show about a dude who gives AI to robots his makes from scratch. There was a big power range-esque robot called Jungle Fiver that blew stuff up in 3D. It's one of the first lines that I tried to buy up as much as I could because it was very cheap at a toy liquidator store.

9. Batman: TAS- A great cartoon, a great batmobile, and tons of great toys at first as most of them were very close to their look on TV.

8. TMNT (original)- This would be higher if they stuck to coming out with new and original good and bad guys instead of going to whacky action features and stupid versions of the turtles as clowns and monsters. A very creative line at first.
I also fit Toxic Crusaders in with this line.

7. Ghostbusters (Original and Extreme)- Who didn't want to be a ghostbuster?

6. Transformers- Never had many as a kid. I always had a few, but with their reintroduction in the last few years this makes my list.

5. Marvel Legends- I probably would have really cried over this line as a kid because I probably would have loved it but couldn't find any. A buddy of mine has a kid who really got into them but he said that his son cried a lot when they couldn't find certain figures anywhere.

4. Power Rangers- This was probably the first line to really stress me out trying to find. I was in I think 4th grade when it came out and it petered out for me during 5th grade. I never got the original megazord and I still blame my dad for that.

3. Aliens/Predator- Such an amazing line with tons of variety. I remember having so many different kinds of aliens and I love the marines. My favorites were the King and Queen aliens, followed by the Bull, scorpion, and gorilla aliens.

3a. I completely forgot! Lord of the Rings by Toybiz! Ah, to be back in 2001-2002 as the movies were coming out and to grab all the greatly detailed, accessory loaded, should still be being made line to compete with Star Wars figures. The cave troll with a rubber face where you could lift his lips to see his gums? The armed to the teeth Helm's Deep Legolas? The figure of Birthday Bilbo that I think most stores ended up throwing away because no one would buy it? This would be number 2 if it lasted longer and if the last great series for this line wasn't only internationally released.

2. Food Fighters- A weird line to be at the #2 spot over so many other great lines. But it's a very sentimental line and I think it's beyond original. Logistically, they make absolutely no sense. But they're just cool.

2a. Ok, so Exo Squad is tied with #2. It was close to being number one, but I for some reason started losing the ability to find them in later releases. The show and toy line about futuristic soldiers fighting weird looking genetically engineered rebelling slaves in exo-suits was just awesome. The attention to detail on some of those figures still is better than some stuff today. The figures looked very close to the show, they weren't too expensive, had tons of accessories, and were just so awesome.

And my #1 line ever is....

1. GI JOE!! No action figure line ever gave me as much playtime as this. So many great vehicles, tons of figures, tons of accessories. I really got into some of the early 90's stuff, like Battle Corp, DEF, and Eco Warriors. Some of my fondest memories of christmases and birthdays was getting new GI Joes and vehicles.

Honorable Mentions: Star Wars, Army of Darkness (palisades), Resident Evil (Toybiz and Palisades), James Bond Jr, WWE by Jakks Pacific, The Corps, Mighty Max...more to come

you said top 10 toys of the decade.. thats 2000-2010... thats "the decade" as in today... some of your listings were nearly 20 years ago

You all know i only collect marvel stuff... but based on my other fig knowledge.. it shall go like this.. These are the ultimate toy lines of this decade

10. Soon to come... which i may have to get... Mc Farlands twisted christmas
9. Muppets
8. DC Superheroes/Universe
7. Star Wars Unleashed (large figures, not the tiny crap)
6. Neca Harry Potter (damn awsome sculpts)
5. Legendary Heroes (still new, but damn awsome looking)
4. Marvel Select
3. Cult Classics (any line with frank the bunny is an automatic win)
2. Sota street fighter
1. Marvel Legends and all subsequent related lines

honorable mentions...
pirates of the carribean
mortal kombat
simpsons
Now Playing
Resident Evil
Sin City

does it have to be of the decade? I'd prefer an all time list(can't believe I've never made one about THIS before).

I'll just list the top 10 from 1 to 10. I don't feel like going from 10 to 1 for suspense.

1. X-men(toy biz 90's)- I played with X-men more as a child than any other toyline and i had TONS of these.

2. Marvel Legends-Plastic Crack. Plastic Crack, i say!

3. The Simpsons:World of Springfield- A fun line that found no character to obscure to be made.

4. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles(1987)-one of my greatest obsessions. I had so many Turtle figures as a child it was ridiculous. From the first assortment all the way until they did Toon Turtles, i got them religiously(well, my parents bought me them anyway).

5. Real Ghostbusters- One of my favorite toons as a child, I had all 4 ghostbusters, slimer, stay puft, Ecto1-3, The firehouse and tons and tons of monsters, ghosts, varient Busters. I also had the lifesize proton pack, trap, ecto goggles, and slime blower from ghostbusters II!

6. C.O.P.S.- Not the most popular cartoon but some of the coolest toys ever. Tons of fun and they made for great generic cops and generic thugs whenever I played Batman, ninja turtles, or whatever else.

7. Batman: The Animated Series-very nice looking and cartoon accurate with excellant play value.

8. Transformers-I never got quite as many of these as I wanted but I loved the toyline. I've got like 4 or 5 different versions of Optimus alone to date.

9. South Park(mezco version)-one of my favorite shows is one of the best toys around. Only thing that keeps this lower on the list is the lack of secondary characters.

10. Buffy The vampire Slayer/Angel- Buffy is my fave show of all time so i'm constantly flipping for these collectible figs with great liknesses. I'm still pissed they never made Gunn from Angel though. wtf?

I think he meant that the Toyfair top 100 list was just for the past 10 years, but for our list we can do our top 10 toy lines of all time.

Do you actually read before you write?

Toyfare did the top 10 tos in the decade. I never said anything about my listings being in the last decade.

And decade can also refer to the past 10 years and not 1990-2000, 2000-2010, etc etc, as Toyfare referred to the period between 1997 and 2007, as this year I believe is their 10 year anniversary.

Point of order. The only time there wasn't "new" Transformers product on the shelfs was 1991. They've been out there pretty consistantly since 1984.

True. I was referring to more mainstream television shows, and probably inaccurately as well. Transformers was more or less reintroduced to me when Transformers Armada came out. Before that it was Beast Wars, which I watched in the late 90's and collected, but there were a few years when i don't think I saw a single show based on transformers or bought a transformers figure. So I think it was "reintroduced" to me personally.

Awesome list! You touched on a few things that I completely forgot about like Visionaries, MASK, Silverhawks, and Captain Planet (awesome vehicles).

Mighty Max- Micro Machines - He Man - Jurassic Park - Dino Riders- Dragons- Spawn- Star Wars- Adventures! - Transformers

10. Transformers
Had a decent amount growing up. I was born in '89 and was pretty much through with them by the time by the time Beast Wars rolled around. I still picked up the dinosaur related ones, though. This is a hugely popular line so there's not much for me to say.
My favorite from this line? Trypticon, the freakin' REX that just happens to be the DECEPTICON CITY!

9. Megabloks Dragons
I was going to work Legos into this list somewhere until I realized that Lego never really put out a singular line that I find overly impressive(Except for Aquazone. Consider it mentioned). However Megabloks, always the poor man's Lego, finally struck gold with their Dragons line. The line has limped on today with a few minimal fairly unimpressive expansions every once in a while, but the intial few years of sets remain exceptionally impressive. They literally form an entire world that can easily take up a whole room- these things are massive. Not overly sturdy in design, they are basically make them where you want them kind of sets- exceptionally hard to pick up and transport without tearing them apart first. I began building them on top of thin wooden boards so I could move sets around without fear of them breaking. The line started small, with one basic dragon mold that covered the first wave of amazing sets, featuring two warring factions of knights. Things expanded into the second wave, introducing a two headed riff on the original dragon mold, a new longer thinner sea inspired dragon mold, and a smaller earthbound beast like dragon mold, and several new warring factions. Castles expanded into battlegrounds, caverns, prisons, sea ports, and battle ships(paving the way for the smaller yet also excellent Pyrates line). Things continued to expand and while the line is now in it's twilight years, it remains one of the most expansive and imaginative lines I've ever encountered. Great designs, and great playability.
My favorite from this line? The Vorgan Stronghold!

8. Mighty Max
Man, did this line rule. Creative, colorful, insane designs worked into transforming playsets filled to the brim with detail. Sure, the little guys were too tiny to move, but did that bother anyone?! Went to the places Micromachines wouldn't dare go!
My favorite from this line? Well the face of the line belongs to the amazing Skull Mountain, but I always had a soft spot for: The Kronosaur!

7. Spawn
What a line. This will forever be the line that changed the toy industry forever. To see it go from a cartoony, above average superhero line into the hyper detailed and inventively articulated line to the super hyper detailed statue figures has been quite the journey. I personally am not a fan of where McFarlane and Spawn stand today, but that's part of the line's appeal. It has gone through literally so much change that there is virtually something for everyone. I like it's start and love it's middle, for me the height of the line was the extremely detailed accessorized and SUPER articulated Dark Ages The Samurai Wars wave. From bendy, almost cute monsters with action features and bright paint jobs to futuristic robots to demons and motorcycle riders and connecting figures to the most affordably priced statues on the market, this line has it all- whether you like gothic or midevil or futuristic or even the occassional modern themed figure- this line has it all.
My personal favorite? So hard, and so many. But I'd pick either the original black Violator or the Samurai Wars Jackal Assassin:

6. Playskool Adventures!

5. Star Wars

4. Dino Riders

3. He Man

2. Micro Machines

1. JURASSIC PARK

Mega Bloks produces some pretty nicely sculpted stuff. My son has two POTC ships and the figs and the ships themselves (Black Pearl and Davy Jones ship) are pretty damn nice. Legos is easily a top three, if not number one, on my personal list because of endless hours I'd spend making a bunch of stuff outta legos outta generic lego sets. Legos is dear to my heart, and as much of a bastard toy line I think Mega Bloks is I gotta give it props in the fact that the figures are sculpted in a way I wish Lego figs always were instead of the little painted on decos and the sets like the POTC stuff all are nicely done. I was surprised, especially being a Lego fan and looking down on Mega Bloks.

Man, I loved Legos though. I would often make the "set" once and from then on take it all apart and make my own "creations". I made alotta space ships, star fighters, robots, alotta sci-fi stuff. I remember this movie I saw on HBO or something called Robot Jox were guys were in these big ass robots and fought each other and I would make big robots with guns and s*** and a lego guy would be inside its chest, kinda like Exo-Squad figs. I Half the fun was building these big ass robots with weapons and s*** and the other half was blowing them up fighting them against each other with bits getting blown off or one of their arms being smashed and having to fight like that and on and on. I loved using moving parts and making stuff have transforming parts and s***, it was awesome. If legos weren't a damn arm and a leg I'd get some due to nostalgia, there's ome cool stuff out there. Yeah, the Star Wars stuff and Batman stuff is cool but their non specific space stuff and aquatic stuff looks pretty cool. I woulda loved that s*** as a kid. With some of the newer parts and techno bits I could make some sweet robots nowadays.

legos win... u build nearly everything, mega blocks u build only like 30%-40% of everything, most of it is already sculpted plastic, thats why i like lego better
