Just finished watching it.

What a film. It had a decent sized audience and plenty of responses (mainly laughter).
Really enjoyed it, the way they broke it up and told each story leading into one another. Cast was great, esp for being replacements.
The fact that basically (imo) NOTHING was answered in regards to the big mystery of the movie except
A. what happened to the kids parents
B. What she needed the kids for
and I still liked it, is astonishing. Of course it left me wanting more.
But I wonder why Aunt Gladys spell didnt completely break over everyone once she died. It broke for Thanos but the parents never recovered. The kids didnt seem to recover, at least not for a hot minute since the mysterious narrator stated that some began to speak again. Is it because the tree is just sitting in a dumpster? No water got on it? It's permanent unless a new spell is cast to unbreak it? I need a sequel and a prequel STAT.
This seems to be the most logical explanation to me. The cop and the junkie might have snapped out of it fairly quickly too had they not been killed since they only seemed to be under her influence for about a day at most.I could be wrong, but my assumption is that
it had to with the length of time people were under the spell. Brolin’s character spent a really short smount of time under her control so he bounced back quickly. The parents suffered way longer so any chance of recovery is slim.
They thought this would flop or be a modest hitIf WB had any marketing skills, they would have had random kids running across sporting events like Smile did with the creepy smiling people in the audience.
I loved the narrative structure. But it's really the fact that the characters and their episodes are interesting, exciting and well written. Otherwise that could have been the movie's downfall. Which is further confirmation that Zach Gregger is an immense talent.just got out that movie was a whole bunch of WTF but in a good way I liked how it was told from different angles which is something you just do not see in movies I liked how they did it. the finale was bat crap insane again, in a good way. I liked Julia and Josh as the leads I am quickly becoming a fan of Julia and I only seen her in 2 movies this and F4: First Steps and that was just basically mo/cap and VO.
I also like that not only did you have 3 MCU actors in the movie they were all in the same scene at least once, Julia, Josh, and Benedict .
WB's marketing skills are driving this to a potential $300m finish. That's quite a bit more than any of the Smile films made. Considering Warner is leading all studios in market share and has had 6 films open over $40m, their marketing department must be doing something right. If WB had any marketing skills, they would have had random kids running across sporting events like Smile did with the creepy smiling people in the audience.
