Horror Zach Creggers’ Weapons

I have a few lingering questions though (mostly silly :o ):

What happened to Mr Grandy since the Silver Surfer was referred to as 'Mrs'?

- Was the child narrator one of the hypnotized kids?

- Why the hell didn't Silver Surfer lock her car doors when Aunt Gladys snatched that piece of her hair?

- How did the kids all get home after the spell was broken?
How terrible are the police in this town? :o

@Kane52630

You finally hyped up a movie that was worth hyping. This mess wasn’t better than Sinners or 28 Years Later, but it was entertaining and funny as hell!

And surprisingly very campy in the last half.

It had me and my theater like:

Movie of the summer. For real.
Good now go see Barbarian!

Oh this was a good one. It was totally worth the THIRTY MINUTES of commercials and trailers leading up to it (sidebar: may the CEO of AMC and his sidepiece get caught at a Coldplay concert :o)

I loved the approach of following each character culminating in the big insane finale. Aunt Gladys is an instant all-timer movie villain. I wanted to see her get taken out in the worst way possible and it's almost like Zach Cregger said, "Don't worry, I've got you."

I really have no notes, maybe I'd have just preferred to see a little more of Aunt Gladys/Alex and his parents and a little less of the cop and the junkie. Their part in the story was important but I'd have preferred that to be cut down just a bit in favor of a little more of what was going on at the house in the third act.

What a great year for horror this has been between this, Sinners and 28 Years Later.

Didn't Brolin and the Police Chief talk about how she was involved in an affair with a co-worker at her last school? Maybe that led to her divorce.

She was hitting that Big Gulp vodka a little too hard. :o

Between Brolin and the neighbors whose houses they crashed through, I'm sure they were fine. :o

tru...
the fact that they never followed up on watching Alex's house...
even after the place appeared to be abandoned with the windows covered and piles of news papers in the drive way

the one kid that didn't go missing with the rest that still might be a possible target, and they don't keep a car on regular patrol in that neighborhood

It was a little slow at the beginning but I did end up really enjoying this especially the last 15-20 minutes which lived up to the hype.

Everybody gave really solid performances although I do wish Josh Brolin's character had a bit more screentime but I think Creggers direction and overall camera work was the real star here.

That dude can direct the hell out of chase scenes and action sequences and I can only imagine the fun, creative stuff he will come up with for his Resident Evil movie.

To be fair though he also showed a bit of that in Barbarian too but I guess with a bigger budget to play with he was able to display it even more here.

I also think people kind of exaggerated when it comes to the use of comedy in this because I didn't think it was too much or overly comedic at all outside of the ending.

Amy Madigan running out of that house with all those kids chasing her through the neighborhood was definitely meant to be intentionally hilarious lol. I also love the fact that she got a really satisfying villain death as well because I'm a sucker for those type of endings and that pretty much put the movie over for me in the end.

8/10

The ending really felt like a crazy fairy tale type of ending with the kids getting revenge on their "witch" tormentor.

I do wanna see it but probably not till next weekend as I saw Together today and gonna take my niece to see Bad Guys 2 tomorrow

This reminds me that I still haven't watched that wacky Glenn Close movie.

Oh Drizzy it is funny as hell and very deep if you’re into spiritual warfare and discount the theatrics.

The fact that they gave Glenn Close black grandchildren and had her braiding their hair made it worth the subscription :lmao:

I had to search this because I had absolutely no recollection of this movie, and now I see why. :funny:
